Background singers messed with a great music. The leader singer delivered a authentic show despit (as i said) the background off key
Yeah something in the backup singers is not right... I think whoever was on the top part was dropping down to the lower harmonies? Not sure. Lead singer is bomb.
I think it's a bad mix mainly. They are right on the money on the intro. But Ghiba and Hayley are both right, something is off.
Actually, the notes of the harmonizations are on point, it‘s just not the main harmonization notes laymen people are used to. The issue they’re having is the dynamics of their singing - it sounded like they were screaming the whole time and fighting for the lead vocals. Instead of smooth blending, so it sounded sharp and flat in certain times
@@thomasmitchell4494 I just listened to the original for comparison and you're right, the notes are the same. It's just that the voices are very blended and sound like they're coming from far away (not sure what that is, reverb?) in the original -- the harsh edges get kind of smoothed out, so maybe these guys could have benefited from some effects or something. It seems like a really difficult part to sing, actually (probably harder than the standard lead melody of the song). They sound great at the beginning and in the "answer my prayer" refrain, don't mean to knock them I'm sure they're great singers.

The background singers aren't off key. The issue is that because kenton limits himself to ad libs, no one ends up singing the lead line, so it sounds off. They're actually singing their parts but the main note is missing.

Impossible to know which part of this machine is the best! I think the piano player has experienced more joy in 2:59 than I have in decades-long stretches, the singer’s vocal, the harmonies of the back up singers (this song requires perfection from these three - and gets it in spades), the hat-on-backwards drummer with hair so cool it might slow global warming or the rhythm section clued into the back up singers. This is extraordinary talent putting on a clinic in how to love what you do. Thank you for this video.

Your videos have just started being passed around by my musician friends up in Toronto - we are a bunch of old farts (60's and 70's) who grew up on this music.
