  • If your screwdrivers are stinking up your toolbox, ditch them and get some vintage vibes going in your toolbox with these suckers.

Grew up using those old wood handles. Kinda miss them now.

I just picked up a set of new Sunflag (Made in Japan) wood-handled Phillips head screwdrivers on Amazon - about $35 for #1, #2, and #3 models and I'm looking forward to putting them to good use!

They also don't get all slippery when sweating which I hate and I live in south Florida so it's inevitable I will always fumble those damn stinky plastic drivers.I I find the wood handle ones at flea markets. Usually 1 dollar or even a pair for 1 buck can't beat that

Good point. at 1$ a pop that's an even better deal than most new chinese made ones

New Britain offer wood handles. Have a set from dad. also Blackhawk had some, which were made by New Britain. Good stuff..

    Nice!
Looks like they could do with a light sanding, and then some tung or linseed oil though.

I have recently added all my craftsman plastic handled screwdrivers to my kids "loner" tool box. I agree with you completely wood handled screw drivers are alot more enjoyable to use. I try to look for anything vintage because 90% of the time the quality is better ( obviously there is alot of junk from back in the day too) I have been hunting down old Stanley "hurwood" and " Yankee" ( not the ratcheting type necessarily) screwdrivers.... I highly recommend them and if you have patience New Old Stock pops up on eBay !! I haven't decided which I prefer yet ....does anybody know when Stanley discontinued these drivers? Not to much info out there on them......

@lemongrass can you read any inscriptions on the smallest one? I have the identical and I'm attempting to find out approx what year it was made. I cannot see inscriptions on mine

All of these read Irwin Hanson on the handles

Do you know what the groves in the handle is for? I have some from my dad and grandpa and they are the only tools that have held up

I would assume for some added grip. If it was perfectly smooth and say you get oil/grease in it it'd be like trying to hold onto a stick of butter while working.
