  • #paddleing #gear #canoeing In today's video we're going to discuss the easiest method to correctly size a Paddle for you to use. First we talk about blade types and how they affect overall Paddle length and how they are used. Afterwards we'll discuss the grips and thier use and to finish off I will describe the 3 parts of the Paddle Stroke.
    There are lots of different
types and I don't have them all these are but a few of the ones I use and are the most effective for me. You need to find yours. Shaw & Tenney is a good place to look for a Northwoods Paddle, Pole & Paddle is another both are located in Maine.

Can we have some cheese with that wine? I do prefer a shorter paddle mostly, as I sit and kneel a lot sometime sitting almost on the floor of the canoe and tilted over. A paddle that is too long and my shoulders bother having to hold my arms up higher every stroke. and then there is the pole. My next paddle will be a longer otter tail.

Hahaha go onto bushcraft and survival pages and boards and listen to them! I have a new ottertail coming and I can't wait! Thanks for your comment and the view bro!

Do you use the gunwale of the canoe as lever at the end of the stroke?

Some will say not to do this, but yes I do and if you start to get tired over the course of you trip it helps. Some that do will add a piece of leather to reduce wear to the paddle at the throat
