Takeda is spot on when he says that Kageyama is lucky to have met this particular group of very special seniors who have consistently supported and lifted him up. He might have been forced out of playing setter or shafted to a support role had he gone to Shiratorizawa like he originally wanted. I like the message conveyed here - that sport is also about the teams you meet along the way and the people you learn from.
That's the thing about Hinata. Kageyama never really stopped being "The King" with Hinata. So he is basically like: "ok, so what? Let him cook. If the food sucks I'm just gonna tell him"
HINATA was CLEAR MVP. Hinata was the most influential in this episode. Hinata was the one who not only got Kageyama back into it but also opened the pathway for everyone in the team to speak their feelings regarding Kageyama. I get why you’d say Kageyama because he probably had the most on the episode due to his character but Hinata was the driver of this episode in my opinion.
In the German dub, Tsukki's comment at 7:55 is actually along the lines of "Oh look, my favourite movie, 'The Return of the King'", and I think that's such a funny translation, I had to share it here. Also one of my favourite episodes, and your reaction did not disappoint. Great as always!
I think the difference between King Kageyama from Kitagawa Daiichi to King Kageyama from Karasuno is when he was in junior high, he was forcing his teammates to match his level without knowing their skills and capabilities first; while with Karasuno, it's no longer about matching his level; he's gotten to know them well enough that he knows how much he can push them to reach the topmost limits of their potential.

hinata helping everyone heal, learn, and generally have a more positive volleyball experience in this season actually has me in tears. he's such a good main character and is so well written, which is something that is more difficult to achieve than it looks!
Tips for whoever still couldn't understand Kageyama. He is extremely innocent LOL. And he didn't understand nuance. He is very straightforward and he took things literally. That's why he was confused between Oikawa's advice and Atsumu's goody two shoes. Hinata show us the best way to handle Kageyama. Just be brutally honest to him. Suga also did good for Kageyama by showing him how to communicate with Tsukki, remember the 1st match of Karasuno vs Seijoh? Kageyama seems difficult but he is actually also very simple. Atsumu is right, Tobio is a good and honest boy 😂. He'd never have any ulterior motives or something. I'd say Hinata is the MPV here. Just like ep2 when he yelled "kageyama I'm here!" This ep also very crucial for Kageyama and Karasuno. Without the King of the court, Karasuno will not go far at National. Ppl might felt uncomfy with this ep and Hinata's crushing at Shiratorizawa camp, but without those "accident" Karasuno will not evolved.
After that junior high match where his team just gave up on him, Kageyama became a goody-two-shoes setter meaning he adjusts his set depending on the spikers capabilities. The problem with that is that it will not make his spikers develop and become better because he just gives them easy sets that they can easily spike so their skills become stagnant. He realized that that's wrong in this episode that's why he is calling out his teammates and give them hard to spike sets so that they can improve and transcend their ceiling. Atsumu was not being a prick, he gave Kageyama the advice that he so badly needs to hear.
To me this episode is an absolute MASTERCLASS in character writing. When I first watched it, I didn't really see it that way, but after years of rewatching it countless times, it became crystal clear. The way so many character dynamics come full circle in this one episode... There is barely any action in this episode and it still felt intense, lively and interesting. Just pure character interaction masterclass.
Kageyama's growth as a character and as a player is one of my my favorite things in haikyuu. Although, many people has been undermining his hard work through out the years because he's a “genius”, Kageyama will not be that “king of the court” if he didn't work hard. He absolutely doesn't care whatever title he earned, all he wants is to improve. Kageyama has been adjusting for his teammates, I think it's also a good thing as long as it's working. Spiking at comportably, and with what they're good at. But also forcing them to hit his spikes because he TRUST them that they can and because like what suga said, they have plenty of strong spikers. Kageyama is still young, and it's scary how good he is in that age. Maybe because aside from he has grandfather who is an amazing volleyball player, he has been training since he was a child. And continuesly honing his skills through out the years. He wasn't as easy going as Oikawa, nor, Miya. He can be difficult to be with, because people easily misunderstood him. I think that makes it really difficult for him, his nature, his attitude, that makes people wary of him. BUT HINATA PUSHED THAT DOOR AND WALKED LIKE A KING to his life, a sunshine came to his life. Also, without his teammates, and his partner, Hinata. Maybe he's still stuck with the “dictator” attitude. But of course, having such good teammates who will lift you up and help you alone won't make you change, you need to do the rest. And Kageyama did. So here he is, The New King of the Court.
Love your comment! Talent will not grow without a good support system. This is why Kageyama being in Karasuno is the most important. I shudder to thing what would happen in he went to Seijoh or somewhat accepted to Shiratorizawa. Karasuno accepted him and let him be himself, they also guide him to be a better version of his King self, the Serene King, and this is all what Kageyama needed.
@@roroellies8188 Right? He's in the right team. Great coaches, great team. They're his support system. About his talent in volleyball and being a setter. Hinata for the MVP, because when kagayema's words killed the vibe and created tension in the team, the world was breaking for kageyama. It was going to cause a tear between him and the players but hinata killed the tension and lightened the mood of everyone while giving a new perspective to the team. He warmed up the surroundings for kageyama to come out of his shell. He is also the only one who nitpicks on kageyama when he makes mistakes and keeps him in check.
Imo Kageyama has came a long way, from being a KING of the court, who wants everyone to perform the way he desires. To being GOODY TWO SHOES, who gives exact tosses required by a certain winger/spiker. And now becoming a KING who gives exact tosses but pushes them a level up i.e. giving them not only the tosses they want but also making them try new things and achieve new heights. Kageyama's character growth is insane, if not the best. Now, I can say Kageyama has become kinda similar to what Oikawa is.
After big development in season 1 and fought with Hinata in season 2, who would have guessed that there still more room for character development this big for Kageyama.
Interesting distinction between his outburst in junior high and now is that back then he thought he was in control and everyone should have adjusted to him, buyt this time around it was more out of desperation. After he sets to his team, he is practically powerless, so any outcome is a result of someone else. Knowing he is giving his best not resulting in possitive outcome makes him desperate, despite the fact that everyone just trying new things and failures are common durning experimentation and practice, which Kageyama fail to recognize due to him being focused on himself. So for him this wasn't an issue of recognizing what he was doing right or wrong, but realizing what everyone else is doing on a court, which he used to do lot more, but when he played with best players in Japan, he didn't had to adjust and just focused on playing his best.
Let me say that this anime ending story was BEAUTIFUL :) and made a lot of people cry! It's no doubt my fav anime out of the other animes i watched/read I don't know how many times I cried for this show. :)
It's 9:00 PM on the dot in the Philippines. Of course, I was waiting for your upload. Awesome reaction as usual. Can't wait for your reactions to the nationals!
One of the points that people always forget is the point that suga said about kageyama. Kageyama in middle school think that he is the best and everyone should just listen to him, but after fighting with his old teammates, he open up and start to realize that there are a possibility that he is in the wrong.
Kageyama found that balance between the "Goody Two Shoes" type of setter and the "King" he was back in middle school and became a better version of himself. A lot of that character development was because he found the right kind of teammates who didn't back down or gave up on him. One of my favourite episodes for sure!
Honestly best therapy anime for me! I watch it again and again and again and feel the same rush of emotions every single time. I hope we do get 10 more seasons of it. :>
whipping your team to shape is not the same as verbally abusing them. this is part of what Kageyma had to learn. Oikawa was too much of an adjustment to the "good two shoes" side, Atsumu was the much needed calibration
I like that you mentioned accountability at 15:18. I think that was what allowed Kags to reclaim his "King" title but successfully this time. Tying it back to what Hinata said to Kindaichi in S4E5, fighting is normal, and that "fighting" or holding each other accountable made all the difference, whereas Kageyama's middle school teammates just abandoned him. That's my interpretation. 😅
I have to be honest. If you think Kageyama was rude last episode, you haven't really played any sports. Everything is fast-paced, you have to make split - second decisions and so the communication must be succinct. You have to make sure your teammate understands you instantly without any hesitation. If that means saying " You're in the way," so be it. That moment was more about Kageyama having the audacity to criticise Nishinoya, his senior, mid-game than how he criticised him. I just had to put it out there since I don't think they have that sports background that would make Kageyama's comment seem absolutely normal.
I fully agree to Ange's wish. I also want Haikyuu S5 to 10!! The argument between Kageyama and Noya cannot be so serious as we already know their teammate sprits. As for Kageyama, his weakness is communication skill. I love his simple way since I am enough adult to know he is not a two-faced guy, but it sometimes makes needless fights among high schoolers. Conversely Oikawa is good at how to handle teammates by each personality, I bet.
Uh wen carlie said Suga is like a proud mom to Hinata, I really can't wait until we reach THAT episode😭😖 Also 15:28 FUTUKACHI! Listen to mr. Angelo please! 😂
I love this moment. It shows how necessary Hinata and Kageyama are for each other and their growth. I wonder if Kage is in the spectrum (autism)... a genius focused in onlynome thing, unable to understand social clues.... the same for Ushiwaka
May i suggest...can you make your all star team from the series after this season?...as usual your guys for me are one of the best anime reactors in this platform..no cap
They did call Noya the team's one and only genius (until Kageyama's arrival) in the first season, so putting him on Kageyama's level is supported by the show itself.
23:00 Other than semis and finals, the rest of the matches are going to be 3 sets spoilers(may be?) doesn't matter anyways as we only have 3 matches and a training arc remaining that will be covered in 2 movies 😂
Continue with this pace, you 2 should be in time for the Haikyu Movie to be out in your zone, which will debut in 16 Feb in Japan. (Not gonna spoil you on who will Karasuno play with, unless you watch the trailer.)
Kags is actually doing an amazing job as a setter in the sense of settings fewer balls to Tanaka, if your best hitter gets tired in the court he will get slower, more sloppy and not reach the ball high enough, fast enough and the other team will block him more consistently, so what does a setter have to do in that situation? Let the player rest, be refreshed, set more balls to the rest of the team and when he's on better shape, keep the balls coming to the best hitter again with a better view of the court
For me hinata should be the one who get MVP becous he was first person who accept kageyama as King of the court PS. No in National the will be playing 3 sets 2 sets to win match.
I don't think Noya gave Hinata the idea of accepting Kageyama. Hinata always deals with King side of Kageyama. Kageyama only acting like Goody two shoes with others, but never with Hinata
what happens is that since Kageyama is so good his teammates feel like they can't really call him out for his mistakes, now they all are on an even ground thks to Hinata
This is the episode i think kageyama surpasses oikawa fully. He fully understands who he is as a setter and how to maximise the teams value. By fully embracing the strengths of his spikers and learning to eliminate the teams bad habits in a healthy way, he is just like oikawa. (But more talented).
Guys you do realize that when you have an emotional reaction to some scenes, you tend to miss the subtitles which very often shows important details about a character or situation. Consequently, you're missing out on some significant moments in the show. I would suggest that you re-watch the show from the beginning to fully understand and appreciate each character's unique traits. It's a little disheartening that you've missed so much because you don't often pause and rewind after an emotional scene.
Karasuno is like the worst team to have a practice match with...they always suck and is uncoordinated at this point when they play against other teams.
I have the opposite feeling about this episode. I did not like how it was handled. The point about holding back, not saying certain things to the players would be valid....if not for the very obvious fact that the team never calls out Kageyama himself. Think back to the episode where he was adamant Hinata should just keep his eyes closed and hit his balls. No one on his team called him out. It was Oikawa...someone from another team who called him out on it. So I dislike this notion that everyone on his team should now accept everything Kageyama said, especially his seniors and more experienced players. The show already established the value of experience but now it's almost as if they're making the other players look incompetent so Kageyama can look better. Not a fan of the writing this episode.
But Kageyama calls out himself so many times. Even when people comment 'nice toss' to him, he'll say that the toss was a little too slow or fast. Even in this match in the earlier episode he realised how Date Tech forced (scared)him to set anywhere but the middle. So what's wrong with him wanting the same from his other teammates. And that was the entire point of the episode not that everyone should accept when Kageyama calls them out but that everyone in the team should call each other out, so that the team can improve And for when he said to hinata to keep his eyes closed I think he was bit of over correcting. He knew how his selfish actions affected his middle school team and so he was seeing himself in hinata who wanted to do what he wanted even though matches were near and it could put the entire team off balance. And on the point of experience, even though seniors do have more experience in team sense and they should use and help the juniors with it and it definitely gives them authority. But at the same time it is also true that Kageyama's volleyball career experience is greater than probably anyone on this team and him sharing his part will be beneficial too.
The seniors don't just accept what Kageyama says. They're mediating. The 3rd yrs are mature, full of patience, and will deal with Kageyama's deficiency in communication skills maturely. But even in S1 ep2, Daichi put Kageyama in his place because of his egoism (lack of communication and hearing skills). If Kageyama were to revert to that phase like a full regression, Daichi won't take that sitting. Meanwhile, Noya obviously reacts emotionally first, but will accept criticism no matter the tone. Tanaka, Tsukki and Hinata won't listen to Kageyama if they don't like what he's saying or how he's saying it. The 3rd yrs & the coach allowed them react the way they see fit when Kageyama acted rudely. The whole point of the episode was the evolution of the team's communication. With the coach and 3rd yrs to mediate maturely, Kageyama can freely voice his opinions that are based on his superior game intellect, but will be the voice of reason if the message doesn't come across correctly. Daichi has been allowing "fights" and conversations happen during practices since the first 3 vs 3 match in S1. He definitely allows his players free speech even if they're prickly like Kageyama and Tsukki, or self-deprecating like Suga. Better let the team voice out their concerns during practice than let it blow up in a real match. Daichi only stops Tanaka from being physically violent. As proof, the moment Kageyama voices out his opinion that Tanaka be subbed out in this ep, the coach asks for a time out immediately, and Daichi explains to Kageyama why Tanaka shouldn't be subbed out. They're not bowing to Kageyama's higher talent/intellect. They're actually translating team dynamics to Kageyama like he's a noob (because that's his obvious weakness: communication). Daichi won't just shut down Kageyama like he did in S1 Ep2 because the Kageyama now has the matureness to listen to other people's opinion. That means the Kageyama now, even with his greater talent and game IQ, can accept that other people's opinions can be better than his, and that he can be wrong sometimes.
I'd suggest to re-watch the whole series or maybe start reading the manga while sipping teas and get relaaaxxeeeed. If you still have the same opinion then it can't be helped I guess 😊

I'm here, Woooooo!!! Love you guys! ^_^
Carlie asking "how is the home life" every time just kills me bc honestly truly that's viable
We do need 10 seasons or more of Haikyuu. 😫
Great Pov..!!❤
Kageyama was able to embrace his “king” side because of the players he is playing with… because he went to Karasuno. I love this show so much.
Uh wen carlie said Suga is like a proud mom to Hinata, I really can't wait until we reach THAT episode😭😖
Also 15:28 FUTUKACHI! Listen to mr. Angelo please! 😂
You can’t shake TANAKA’s resolve that’s spot on. That’s why
He gets the girl in the end ❤️😍
Love your reactions guys thank you so much
I love this moment. It shows how necessary Hinata and Kageyama are for each other and their growth.
I wonder if Kage is in the spectrum (autism)... a genius focused in onlynome thing, unable to understand social clues.... the same for Ushiwaka
17:28 well if i remember correctly Naoya was the mvp or the best libero in midlleschool Chidoriyama naoya is famous
16:21 Sadly we are not getting proper 5 season of haikyuu even when the manga is already finished and very well written.
Why's that?
@@gerbie42Movie=money
@@gerbie42 because they decided to put the last 100 chapters in 2 movies🥲
@@_Yua_ and possibly OVA's for the timeskip and other stuff👀
@@luka_haru I really hope they won't cut too much because the timeskip is one of my favorite arcs😩
I had a feeling Noya won't get MVP for that one - still, I'm glad you guys noticed the importance of his behaviour 🏐⚡⚡⚡ also Asahi is precious 💖
What a great episode 😌
seriously Tsukki may be one of my favorite characters in anime...
Asahi is known as Jesus in haikyuu community, because of his hair and goatee and also because he is super nice
Kageyama should just have a pocket size Hinata with him all time.
Acompanhando do Brasil. Vocês são especiais. Sempre fico ansioso para ver o próximo react
Hinata mvp too for me. Coz he always brings so much light to so many situations. His growth too is so so so amazing
23:00 Other than semis and finals, the rest of the matches are going to be 3 sets
spoilers(may be?)
doesn't matter anyways as we only have 3 matches and a training arc remaining that will be covered in 2 movies 😂
For me hinata should be the one who get MVP becous he was first person who accept kageyama as King of the court
PS. No in National the will be playing 3 sets 2 sets to win match.
Gotta be Hinata or Kags... Hinata was the one to make the team realize to let Kags be Kags, but each one can still individually be themselves.
Everyone when they watch haikyuu 11:50
“He said the K word” LOL
❤
❤❤❤❤
I don't think Noya gave Hinata the idea of accepting Kageyama. Hinata always deals with King side of Kageyama. Kageyama only acting like Goody two shoes with others, but never with Hinata
Kageyama starts demanding
everyone: 😧?
Hinata: Let him cook👑
Hinata for the MVP
only the semis and final of the spring tournament is 5 sets :)
SUGA-MOM!
I recommend to give a chance for kuroko no basket and assassination classroom in ur next poll you wont regret it
KAGS'S JUST TRYING TO BE CONSIDERATE OF TANAKA
what happens is that since Kageyama is so good his teammates feel like they can't really call him out for his mistakes, now they all are on an even ground thks to Hinata
This is the episode i think kageyama surpasses oikawa fully. He fully understands who he is as a setter and how to maximise the teams value. By fully embracing the strengths of his spikers and learning to eliminate the teams bad habits in a healthy way, he is just like oikawa. (But more talented).
Oikawa from the future begs to differ
Guys you do realize that when you have an emotional reaction to some scenes, you tend to miss the subtitles which very often shows important details about a character or situation. Consequently, you're missing out on some significant moments in the show. I would suggest that you re-watch the show from the beginning to fully understand and appreciate each character's unique traits. It's a little disheartening that you've missed so much because you don't often pause and rewind after an emotional scene.
Give me 10 seasons I dont care 😄
suga momma
Waiting for Miya Twins to take time off your life..
🤍🫶🤍
Karasuno is like the worst team to have a practice match with...they always suck and is uncoordinated at this point when they play against other teams.
Not to the little angel!
React to classroom of the elite please it very good ❤❤
Hinata would be the mvp for me
No your lie in April reaction?😔
Its coming in a few hours 🙂
And that was the entire point of the episode not that everyone should accept when Kageyama calls them out but that everyone in the team should call each other out, so that the team can improve
And for when he said to hinata to keep his eyes closed I think he was bit of over correcting.
@@roroellies8188 already relaxed but thanks for the suggestion ...I guess.
