@i aM nOT thROwInG aWAy My SHoT I am not Australian, HOWEVER my house burnt down in the Camp Fire in 2018. I don't think they were trying to make a joke, as the air being awful is a genuine reason that their voices may not be up to the usual standards.
I thought their voices were naturally deeper, which is (one thing about) what I love about this show and the fact the Toby and Lucy didn’t want them to put on these fake “british” accents and sing it in their naturally accents.
Just a quick note to those of you who may not be in Australia or familiar with Australia - the smoke here is insane. It's actually fucking nuts. Sure, right now it's not as bad in Sydney as it is further south (drove four hours up, four hours back to see Six so I'm very familiar with the smoke levels), but they've had the city coated in THICK smoke on and off throughout the whole of December and January. Unless you've been in NSW or Vic during these fires, you have no idea what breathing this stuff in every single day is like. Yeah, all of their voices are a bit rough. We're literally choking here. I'm amazed they can even sing at all, quite frankly. When the smoke is thick it is physically painful to breathe it in. Also Aussie accents tend to give a deeper voice in general which takes some getting used to. But, seriously, try and remember that they've been breathing smoke for literally the entirety of their rehearsals and performances and cut them some slack on the vocals.
I wish they would’ve let Loren keep her natural hair for Seymour. You can tell she’s wearing a wig and it would have been nice to have a brunette Seymour. Edit: I now know that Loren dyed her hair blonde, which is still disappointing but that’s besides the point. Idk her hair just looked like a wig in this video. 😂
I love this cast so much but , I think the six at the end was a bit rough on the edges it might just be that their voices are deeper than Americans and the British but that’s my opinion.
The Australian cast naturally has voices a lot deeper than the American and UK casts
