Great to see this old footage and also to see a ceremony that hasn't changed over the years. The public attendance was slightly less then. Today, if you want to be close to the Cenotaph on the east side pavement, you have to be there att 8 a.m. I've been there for the last five years but never really made it that far. Thanks for this contri

There's a lovely moment in this @ 15:10 where a vet is visibly moved to tears by the occasion (the Massed Bands are playing Nimrod) and he gets to share a little smile and joke with the GSM. Lovely stuff.

Have been searching for years for old footage of Remembrance Sunday. The best bit of the whole ceremony is the veterans solemnly marching past the Cenotaph. To see WWI and WWII veterans is something that we won't see much more of, sadly.

14:05 - OMG that is me (front row on the left of the screen... ) AB(MW) Tweedie... LOL many years ago when I was 21 just came back from a 9 month deployment including the 90/91 Gulf War.
I volunteered to attend this ceremony , it the first time the Royal Navy used the SA80 for ceremonial purposes, there was no rest arms position at the time.
We had to stand in the at ease position for 20 mins at one part... totally killed my arms... :) it was great when the old vets walked past us as they kept thanking us for our service.. now I am a veteran myself !
Fast Forward 20 years and I have done this ceremony again in my new Job! th-cam.com/video/38AiAGqNElU/w-d-xo.html - See if you can spot me !!

I'd like to see the BBC coverage from the 1970s or 80s when Tom Fleming did the commentary. He had the perfect voice for it and didn't speak too much either.

Even the very youngest WW1 veterans would have been around 90 at this time, about the same as the very youngest WW2 veterans marching in this years ceremony. The faces grow older every year and many have sadly left us but if you just listen to the music you would have no idea if this was from 1991 or 2019. They are identical.

A massive massive shame you didn't put up the best part of Remembrance Sunday - the march past of the veterans. If you have that still, please put up that up. A huge shame.

The recording on the tape stopped unfortunately. Real shame, I agree.

Interesting to see the trees almost pure green, whereas yesterday looked distinctly autumnal. Just goes to show despite underlying temperature rises there is still a lot of natural variability from year to year.

Emma. there are two ceremonies. Armistice Day is always held at 11a.m. on 11 November, the day when WW1 ended. Remembrance Sunday is held at 11 a.m. on the second Sunday in November (the Sunday nearest to 11 November, Armistice Day) and is the larger ceremony with the official wreath laying and the Parade of the Veterans. In 2018, these two was on the same day.
