- I recently watched the David O. Russel film Amsterdam and while it was fairly by the numbers, naturally I really enjoyed Bale’s performance and the character he portrayed. So, why not do a World War 1 prosthesis fitting doctor roleplay, eh?
You’re a war veteran with some characterful - if unsightly - facial scars. Burt Berendsen is a doctor who creates facial prostheses (and experimental drugs) to help war veterans. What follows is a roleplay where the good doctor encourages you to sing a little song, just before he relaxingly shoots you up with morphine and fits you for a facepiece and glass eye. Enjoy!

🎙 What is ASMR? 🎧
ASMR (autonomous sensory meridian response) is synaesthesia of the soul. It’s a relaxing feeling, it’s a tingling down the spine, or it’s simply a sleep aid. Whether it’s being ‘held’ by someone you have confidence in, or ‘looked after’ by someone with authority, or just feeling ‘safe’ with someone you trust, it uses audio-visual triggers to enable you to let go of your worries and stresses - even just for a bit.
📽 What is FPC? 🎞
FPC (first person cinema) takes all the relaxing elements of ASMR but has much more of a focus on immersion and the suspension of disbelief. It’s kinda like being the main character in your own short movie, with popular figures you know and love, or entirely created worlds - just for you. There won’t be any visible mics or traditional triggers in these videos, and they will seem more unintentional than the usual ASMR videos - but they are unique and relaxing experiences designed to transport you to different places, worlds, and times.

I think you and Mr Bale are kindred spirits. The lengths you both go to for your characters, embracing them until the real you is no longer there.

@@PAshish-dh5fk I'm not sure if Christian Bale has a TH-cam but if look at the characters Bale portrays you can see his versatility and the versatility that Jim encompasses too.
the whole idea of singing a song creating a poem that makes absolutely no sense was actually a real artistic movement! very interesting movement for anyone who doesnt know about it. its called Da da.

I watched Amsterdam in theatres with my fiance and we both loved it, Bert was probably my absolute favourite character in the film and you captured his mannerisms perfectly

I haven’t seen the movie so I cannot comment to the comparison of Bale, but what an endearing, fantastic character Burt is.
I can see him sitting on a bench in a sunny park, long after the war is over - older, greyer, slower… telling stories and making nonsensical little songs with anyone willing to stop and sit for a while. Unknowingly saving some young persons life with his kind words.

Whatever the perspective coming from the character being portrayed, heroic, good, evil, bad, average Joe/Josie or indifferent...Jim brings it fully rounded.... after considered development throughout whatever given timespan. Often with well placed twists for added Zing. I wish there was an emoji for a chef's kiss. 💋👌HOWZAT? Hope it's not some kind of rude European hand signal.
