    Watching this video and then watching an older one you really get a look at how well your production & quality have improved a lot. It's pretty cool to see!

    Did my high school years in Calgary with the Bow at my back door! We had a fabulous time fishing the Bow and Elbow rivers. The fishing was grea t 50 years ago and I am sure it is as good or better now!

      its different, for better or worse. Rainbow trout population is a shell of its former self. Browns dominate the population studies. The hydroelectric dam upstream is owned by a foreign entity and let out super erratic flows with only respect to energy and non to ecosystem. Great place to catch a trophy brown on streamers but the dry fly fishing isn't what it used to be

      If somebody responds " i had great dry fly fishing on the bow last year" blah blah blah... it used to be better, just a fact

    Love that vid, kinda breaks my heart seeing a couple outta towners come and smash a river that I've been struggling with for a couple decades though.
    One of these days I'll have to get a boat.

    I went there once. Guide was Ted. That is wonderful memory with picky trout.

    What kind of rod are you using for streamer and hopper fishing?
    #6 or heavier?
    Sry for my bad english.

    • @newflyfisher
      @newflyfisher  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes we were using six weight rods with fast-actions for casting streamers and grasshopper patterns. Thanks for asking.

    Big zonker and black leeches work best on the bow. I was born on that river and caddis was never mentioned.

      Sorry I do not but if you check out the other videos we did with Simon, you should be able to determine that.

    Why u guys don’t keep the fish I’m sorry but I don’t know anything about fishing but I want to be a fisherman 😂😂😂 soon

    • @dandavis6319
      @dandavis6319 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's illegal to keep fish on the bow nowadays.
      But that's not why they don't. When these guys produce shows they dont need people questioning their ethics. Besides big trout outta the bow downstream of calgary are fun to catch but dont taste great. They also have a decent level of mercury by this point in the river.

    They never show what happens when a fish swallows your hook or gets hooked in the gills. Only the perfect catches and releases are shown. I guess I'm just the only one that loses a fish every now and then resulting in me taking the fish home. I would like to see a "professional" carry out iki-jime or a more primitive method of humanely killing a fish.

    • @johnbrungard1597
      @johnbrungard1597 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Michael Fish I rarely have a fish get hooked deep that survival is in question. Fly fishing is probably one of the easiest means of catch and release fishing. Most also use debarbed hooks. If you are constantly hooking fish deep then you are definitely doing something wrong!

      this is a catch and release only fishery. They changed the regs a year ago.

      Law in this water says you release it period.
      No taking it home, doesn't matter if it's dead.
