Mexican Mayor Murdered Days After Taking Office

Arcos's death comes on the heels of the killing of Francisco Tapia, the city government's new secretary, who was shot dead three days earlier. Arcos's Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) also condemned the violence, demanding that the authorities bring the perpetrators to justice. "Enough of violence and impunity!" the party said in a statement. "The people of Guerrero do not deserve to live in fear."
