Hi, I used AkG K271Mk2, BD DT770 (80 Ohm) and AT M50XBT2 all of these headphones were sound loud and precise. X6 has very good headphones output. Thanks!
Thank you for this review. I enjoyed your walk through. Could you please clarify something for me: Is it possible in manual mode, to use the built-in mics for all the channels? What I want to accomplish, is to record an instrument, and then record another instrument on one of the other channels, while listening to the first recording. But I only want to use the built-in mics.
Hi, No, as i understood it is not possible to record built-in stereo mics to all 4 channels at once but it is possible to make an "overdub" whereas you can play back previously recorded piece and record a new track on one of the channels. You can also try out so-called "studio" app in launcher - this app is available after upgrade to 2.1 firmware. On the other hand, i would recommend you to use portable DAW software something like Garage Band on iOS or iPadOS, it comes free with every new Apple device or if you an Android user you can purchase Cubasis which is an absolutely brilliant piece of software. It is much easier to work with recordings in DAW. Hope it helps. Thanks!
@@TechieViewVideo Thank you for replying. I'm a semi-professional producer, and I've been using ableton for years. But now I'm starting a journey, and I'm opting out of too much gear. If I can do simple layer by layer recordings on this device, that would be amazing. I've been reading their reference manuals, and searching a lot for in depth info about their newest firmware update, but it's not entirely clear to me, if the overdub function fulfills my need. If you have any chance to test it, I would be very grateful. All I want, is to be able to use the built-in mics to record several instruments layer by layer, until I've used all the 6 channels. And then to access each layer as a standalone wav file. The main purpose is to create samples for other producers to mix. So for example, I make a song with guitar, percussion and flute, recorded by the built-in mics, layer by layer. Then I can make a decent mix down to showcase the song, but ultimately the producers can get access to each instrument separately, so they can mix and edit it as they want. It seems this should be possible with the portacapture. And that's why I want to know, if the built-in mics only can record into channel 1-2, or if they can be used as the input for all the channels. Not simultaneously, but just one layer at a time. I fear that the channels are tied to the inputs. Which would be an unnecessary limitation. Maybe that's what the new overdub function is solving. Just can't find accurate information anywhere...
Hi, I understand, i have to look it up to be sure, i'll be back to you with that. By the way, I'm finishing video about 2.1 update it will be posted in couple of days. Also, in settings menu of X6 you can see Input mapping where you can choose which input goes in which channel. Thanks!
@@TechieViewVideo Alright great. I subbed. I've seen more people ask for this feature, so maybe if it makes it to your 2.1 video, it could be helpful for more than just me :)
Hi, I just uploaded 4 pictures to community post section, i think you can see it there now. In short - you can route / map built-in mics to channel 3 and 4 so you can record built-in mics to channel 1-2 by default or record built-in mics to track 3-4 if you re-route it in input settings menu. Thanks!
Tks for your review. Can u tell if , when connected to a camera, the tascam starts recording automatically when you start recording on the camera ? Or you have start both device independently. Thanks
Hi! If it just connected through 3.5mm input one has to start recording manually on both devices, if it connected and synchronised through the “blue” than recording could be initiated automatically on both devices. It also depends on capability of the camera. Thanks!
This is a great review. Does the device let you crop recorded audio and playback on loop? I want to use to for instrument practice. If the Tascam devices don’t have this, do you know if Zoom devices have the capability? Thank you
Hi, good question, no unfortunately that kind functionality is not present at this point, one can use Bluetooth only for remote control or synchronisation with other devices. Lets hope in future updates Tascam will introduce something like that. Thanks!
Tnx, how many OHM headphones you recommend for the X6 headphone output? 32 or 80 ohm? Tnx...

Nice review, how can we find that wind muff or deadcat you are using?
Hi, It is just a random one which fits it size-wise, i bought that one on Amazon. Thanks!

Hi, Yes, you can edit and play recorded files on the device itself. Some Zoom recorders can do it too. Thanks!
@@TechieViewVideo Thank you so much for the response, that's what I needed. Keep up the great videos 👍
Very thorough video. Thank you! What deadcat are you using outdoors?
Hi, it is just a random one from the Amazon, fit the size very well. Thank you!
What tripod did you use with it? The slim one.
Hi, it is just random inexpensive one from the amazon web shop, they have plenty of different kind most of them are good enough. Thanks!
hi can it Bluetooth to audio speakers or headphones live? well done on the vid btw
