- I was posted in SMS II department of Rourkela Steel Plant | Rourkela | SAIL | Steel Authority of India Ltd..I worked there for about 1 year...
I feel very sad when I see the Public perception about the PSU employees so called "Sarkari Karmchari" do not work.....The extreme pressure, these employees face can nobody face....Sirf naam ke hi sarkari hote hain but the service conditions & the pay scale is not "Sarkari"....It's a harsh truth that nobody tells.....

Good to hear you ... I joined as a junior doctor in Ispat General Hospital (IGH) ,SAIL , ROURKELA here. I got my qtr nearby hospital campus with surrounding big trees and green calm environment ... Rourkela is beautiful with Peaceful calm environment . 🌳

I can understand ...what's enginiring and what we face in that time, i also want to become engineer , the only drawback of engineering is that we have to face mentally pressure,....but it's good to know u explain it very truth way....now i m happy to know u are selected in 2018 CGL examination...CAG top rank A class job.....i m also preparing for CGL ....i hope u will share your experience of your CGL journey.... PSU chorke SSC ka preparation. Hats off. Sometimes we reject certain jobs in life simply because we are not ready at that time. Every job is same, although different people have different perspective. Mental peace is always important no matter what.

I am born and brought up in Rourkela. It was once I joined my college( IIT Dhanbad) which is like a densely populated dusty city, I then started appreciating more the beauty and greenery of Rourkela which I took for granted during school days. 😅

Felt so upset on reading comments like "ghatiya company" for a steel plant when it was just a few days ago that such steel plants supplied LMO (liquid medical oxygen) with the workers even delaying their lunch time just to meet the oxygen demands. can never forget how at the time of demonetization, bank employees were working even on Sundays and had even read about an employee's daughter as to how she had volunteered to help. how was the LMO transported?? Our Railways did it aur coaches kaise.bante hain?? People should ask themselves these questions before being so insensitive.

Same in NTPC brother, pollution..little bit better in terms of money, but locations are extremely remote. Township are not at all good like in sail. Literally, u have drive 20km to get a city like Rourkela forget about good school, hospital etc.
I personally say.. SAIL is way better than all other PSU.. because Sail townships are actually a proper city by itself.
Honestly saying all PSUs are overhyped by coaching centres and their faculties.
Sometimes, I regret why l have wasted my time in Gate preparation. 😂😂
Actually, PSUs are heaven for HR, finance, medical professionals but not for engineers. So everyone in PSU struggles for changing their department from core section to non core department😂😂

I know how tough it is to work in steel plant.
I joined in electrical in a private firm
It's very adventurous to see how steel and irons are made specially in SMS plant.
And i totally agree with you there is high level of pollution.
As i am from electrical so i have to remain on shop floor all the day.
People who dream of working office job after engineer, they may get heart attack after seeing those scenes.
By the way, work of operation team is minimal as compared to electrical and mechanical

Same here,my father was also working in operations role as a senior manager in SMS 2(Convertor shop) in Bhilai Steel Plant from 1980-till 1999 dec.
He used to work in shifts,faced the dirts & smoke,molten steel all around him,risky and high pressure job but good salary.....only difference is that you joined as an engineer but my father joined as a chemist.
In the IT sector,this managerial role is known as Delivery Manager where instead of molten steel ,tickets come into the picture,otherwise the job is
almost the same.

I resigned from a private steel plant....I was also in operation and process...mai v hot dust blast zone se ak labour ka accident experience kia tha..haa kismat unka achcha tha ki wo bach gaya,but bohot dangerous tha...sabse jada diqqat mujhe hota tha jab 1500 -2000 degree temp zone me jake,mujhe lobe cb fan ka scale regulate karna hota tha...kavi kavi to mujhe lagta tha,yaar kaha fas gaya hu mai...maine bohot request ki mera GM se ki mujhe mechanical maintenance ya fir power me shift kar dijie,kuki mera stream diploma in mechanical engineering hai,unhone suna nehi...aur salary !!unka to bat karne v saram aata hai...bas chor dia job...uske bad railway JE me exam dia,lekin mera v kismat futa nikla...1.37 mark less tha mera score...uske bad Covid and govt policy, no huge recruitment..avi vi jung jari hai...pata nehi jindegi me keya hai..jab koi govt corrupt employee ko dekhta hu..jine govt covid k time me v bitha k pura salary dia ..bohot gussa aa jata hai....kuki ye sab past work environment yaad ata hai......

PSU(whatever it's Maharatna or anything else) vs Govt. Kahoge....then I suggest you to join Government sector.... Professor vs CGL...if you need money, join the Professor job but if you are crazy for power...join CGL....it all depends on your priority....

This time SAIL has recruited through GATE 2022 and as per notification, after training period candidates will be absorbed as Assistant Manager (not junior officer). So kindly tell about life of assistant managers as well.
The life of Assistant Manager is same...Only Designation & Pay Scale has been changed...The work profile is same...

Yes , sail is a good psu but they suffer badly because of low profits etc. If you are posted in bad place , you'll be there forever.

NOC is not required after resignation....It will be required if you are currently employed in a PSU/Govt. Sector....
Relieving letter will be enough to get a job in another PSU if you have already left the current job.....

Around 85-86k inhand...in addition to that..u ll get PRP and lba(location based allowance)
