    Thank you for the information. I just fixed my truck today. 125 ohms . Wow. New injectors last year. New parts are not always good parts. Thanks may God bless you all!

    Thanks a lot brother. I'm a Master Diesel Mechanic and at the dealership level we don't do just the solenoids. I honestly didn't even know they were available. I just bought a 2500 that's throwing this code intermittently, and happened to see this video when I was mentally preparing to do the diag tomorrow.
    A solenoid is WORLDS better than an injector. Thanks again.

      No problem man. My pleasure. Granted we had to modify a socket to get the solenoid off. I don't remember what size it was. And I'm not entirely sure about a source on new solenoids. The one we found was on a used injector.

    Thank you so much for this video. It saved my ass. The socket for this job is a 26mm 12 point deep socket. I bought the solenoid on amazon for $27.

    I threw the same code on my 07 3500 5.9L and need to maybe do the same thing. I've already reset the code and it's running, but I'm sure the truck will eventually throw the code again. I did run the resistance at the gasket harness plug and found injector #1 at about 10ohms (earlier it was at 35...kinda weird) like you recommended in the other video, but I haven't taken the valve cover off yet to test the valve cover gasket harness or the solenoid itself. Thanks for the video cause I think this will save me a lot of diagnosing time!

      +Daniel Wieman if I can do anything to help let me know. Good luck bud.

      My 2006 3500 5.9 only give me a code P2149 (back 3 bank) when it gets hot. Solenoids about to fail increase in ohms as they get hot. Only way to test this is to ohm the solenoids out when he engine is hot and after the code appears. I’m just replacing all the solenoids. BTW the solenoids require a 1 1/16” 12 point socket. You can grind it down to fit around the solenoid head without removing the rockers.

    Nice video I grinder down the socket for out side and fit perfect

    Could the a faulty bank/harness (p2146) cause it to throw a injector code (0201, 0202)... reason I'm asking is I replaced#1 injec however when I unplugged the injector harness it was filled with oil residue (also ohmed the injec solenoid..all is good there)

      William Yount yeah I would be looking for a split in the wiring harness somewhere under the valve cover.

    Actually a 27MM 12 pt. Deep or a 1-1/16" 12pt. Deep works just might need to grind out the step inside the socket to be able to go down past the solenoid/terminals. 26mm is to small and 28mm to big. At least thats what worked on my 07, 5.9

    I'll bet that injector specked out just perfectly...LOL

    Can removing the rocker arms without rotating the engine off the Compression Stroke for that cylinder throw the timing off and course the not to start

    What does it mean when your ohm reading is dead flat/ zero?

    • @HamiltonLandWorksLLC
      @HamiltonLandWorksLLC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When reading ohms a zero or close to zero means no resistance or short.

    did you end up having to do the valve lash, i expect so but it was hard to hear. Thanks Great work!

    What’s this about having to calibrate after a solenoid replacement? Guy told me that you could try 3 different solenoids on one injector and all 3 will fire the injector differently. I’m in the process of replacing my solenoid and he’s kinda making me question doing it my self vs taking it to a shop... any info would be awesome!

      News to me. Never heard of it.

      @@HamiltonLandWorksLLC there are shims under the solenoid that determine injector timing 🤷🏻‍♂️ anyway has it always worked fine when you’ve replaced Cummins injector solenoids ?

    • @HamiltonLandWorksLLC
      @HamiltonLandWorksLLC  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had no shims under this one. It's ran like a top since. Not saying this guy is wrong or right. Just saying I didn't see any and it runs great.

    • @HamiltonLandWorksLLC
      @HamiltonLandWorksLLC  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Plus injector timing is electrically controlled.

    did you retest continuity after replacing the solenoid?

    • @HamiltonLandWorksLLC
      @HamiltonLandWorksLLC  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No need to. New solenoids were ohm tested before install.

    Same code comes and goes .. sometimes 6 months at a time it goes away. Ohms on injectors and gasket are good. Any clue ? Cuts out the front three cylinders when it does. Sometimes just need to turn the key off and on and it's fine.

    • @HamiltonLandWorksLLC
      @HamiltonLandWorksLLC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Short somewhere. Gonna have to find it the hard way.

    • @HamiltonLandWorksLLC

      Focus on pinch points and connectors.

    • @ffgriffin
      @ffgriffin 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      When it happens I can move the harness all around .. it didn't help or hurt when its running on all 6 I can't make it do it. Hard to figure out when it comes and goes. I think it goes from the valve cover gasket to the ecm. Should be easy right lol 😆

      Where the valve cover and the harness touch.

      Only difference is Dodge put the 6.7 Cummins in their Rams along with all the emissions crap in the later half of 2007. First half came with the 5.9 Cummins.
