Thanks for sharing not only the settings but also explaining the purpose and variable options for each setting! This goes a long way to helping increase understanding about TV options for not just TCL TVs.
Just purchased the NU8000, got the 55 inch, PS4 pro looks amazing and the input lag and response time is wonderful, can’t wait for you all to review it

I get how to adjust the brightness of the HDMI inputs, but when trying to adjust the brightness of the home screen the only options are brighter, bright, normal, dark, and darker. The "brighter" setting is still pretty dark, and this setting affects the brightness of the Roku streaming apps (Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, etc.) I wish these TVs had a brightness setting for their home screens similar to the one for the inputs.
The first thing anyone should do when you get a TCL is set the backlight to 50%, whatever mode your in. These TVs are famous for having weak backlights that go out constantly, causing the dreaded black screen of death where sound is fine but no picture unless you shine a flashlight on the screen. I just had to replace an LED strip in mine after only having it a year and a half. You have to take the whole TV apart to fix. I had to buy a LED tester for $30 and LED strips for $50. Even though it was only half a strip that needed replacing. I always play games in the dark so it doesn't bother me with a lower backlight setting.
Personally I switch to movie. And for the most part leave the setting as is. I may have adjusted a couples things but not by much. And I love the settings! In my experience if brightness isn’t turned up the picture showed up too dark in certain scenes.
I basically try set my TV up where it looks equally good on all HDMI ports. So when I play my PS4 it looks good, watching blu rays look good and watching TV from my HD antenna looks good.
I have the same tv but my picture mode doesn’t give me an hdr option , could it be because of my hdmi cable not being the best ?? Please help, I want the best gaming experience possible. Ty
The TV will only show the HDR picture modes when playing HDR content. What device are you using as a source? Is it a HDR video/movie that you're watching?
Have had this TV in my living room for a month. Just now realized there's both a bright and a brighter.... Oops should've watched this video more closely when I got it and did the initial calibration. Switching from bright to brighter makes an already nice picture even better.
I just got an R617 55" 2019. I am wondering if this gamma setting should be applied to it as well? Or is the R617 completely different from this TV? I currently have it at 2.2. Any Advice would be appreciated.
You can adjust the gamma depending on your room conditions to bring out more details or produce deeper dark scenes. If you find dark details crushed or hard to see, then you can decrease it. This is a different TV to the R617, but the settings behave in the same way.
@@RTINGSdotcom Thanks for the reply. I don't notice any details being affected so I will just leave it at the default of 2.2. I have a question regarding the sharpness setting, if I don't want the TV to correct sharpness, and display the picture as it is from source what should I set it to? My old TV would treat 50 as 'off' but I see most people are setting this TV to 0. I asked TCL and they said that 50 is equivalent to off. Is there any way to confirm? Thanks.
Backlight set to 4? Really? And my question is.. I've got the TCl U58s7806s and if I set picture to "movie" and then change some things it's called "user". It's probably going to rewrite these "movie settings" or am I wrong? I've got the PS4 Pro and XSX and see some artefacts in the picture.( picture shaking)But not in the game itself but only in the menu and sometimes in the apps like Netflix or TH-cam. When scrolling games or icons. Can anyone tell me what causes this? Thx a lot. 🤗😁
I’m having issues with very noticeable noise in the background of DV and HDR content. If I turn the BFI setting on it seems to clear the picture up substantially. BUT, it’s absolutely hard on my eyes from the flicker. Any ideas? I was able to find a nice setting with your recommendation of setting the backlight to 4. Not sure if you meant for that but it helped out a bunch, and the background picture noise is less noticeable.
I am confused with these tcl tvs. Just bought mine, 50P61us. It look different on what I see here on TH-cam. It is not roku, it has different interface. Anyone know what my model is and why it is not roku? I am from asia.
The TCL TVs in North America are different to those overseas. Unfortunately we haven't tested the international variants and don't know how they compare.
Do you guys change the settings now once you go to game mode? Or leave them all regular the way they are now on your settings, and only thing changed is game mode on? Thanks for any reply. Xbox One X user here.

Can u pls review tcl p715 4k tv
THANK YOU!!! I have been trying to figure out how to correct extreme darkness with HDR content for months & this finally solved it!! So happy!!
thank you so much! I hadn't bought a tv in 12 years and this helped fix the jittery images that were giving me nausea.

My tv doesn't give me the option of HDR dark like at 3:25 does anyone know why? I have my console set to HDMI 2 as well
Mike Moosh i believe its because what your watching needs be shot in hdr
why dont you try with xbox one x or slim
Really good breakdown. Though, I really wish they would do ones for the 6 Series (TCL). The picture options are a bit different.
Can these setting be applicable to TCL 65" C6US model

Hope you guys do this on the 2018 TCL 6 and 5 series. And the 2018 Samsungs.
My TCL P607 is still going strong. 😊 one strange thing is this tv has no motion settings. Oh well the motion is pretty decent. 😊
Can you do one for the c803/807?
Personally I switch to movie. And for the most part leave the setting as is. I may have adjusted a couples things but not by much. And I love the settings! In my experience if brightness isn’t turned up the picture showed up too dark in certain scenes.

I don't have a HDR dark option? I don't have a local contrast either :(
Hi how setting satallitte frekans?
Really helpful guide.👍👌
I'm a little surprised by the gamma 2.0 recco. I have mine set to 2.2 but will give 2.0 a shot.
I have the same tv but my picture mode doesn’t give me an hdr option , could it be because of my hdmi cable not being the best ?? Please help, I want the best gaming experience possible. Ty

Xbox one x , I actually just bought a forest hdmi cable and it fixed my issue thx
How do I change the picture movement
Would this apply when I am watching sports?
For HDR Content do you also recommend lowering contrast to 95 or should it stay at 100 default?
Can anyone help me with the calibration of TCL DP600 for ps4??
how do u get the expert picture settings? my app doesnt have it
Four SDR 218 nits black light so where do you put black light at for HD content for those that are not HDR 1440p and in-betweens
Hi please iffalcon 55'' Inch pictures settings information

Can anyone tell me if we compare tcl with samsung or sony which one is the best?

Kindly recommend me settings for tcl 55" P8 it supports hdr10 and its uhd..
Ps: i mostly watch netflix content on it..
Hey what happened to Cedric kinda miss him 😢
Gabe Logan you just miss his accent
Such a shame these TCL's aren't available in Europe.
Would these settings also apply to the S Series? The P Series was sold out at the time so I got the S for my bedroom.
Of course not , the S series is garbage.
Probably no just because the s series can't get as bright and has no local dimming. Just gotta play around with the settings
hdtv00 wouldn't go so far as to say it's garbage, actually still a fairly decent set given the low cost.
It's no P series though that's for sure.
please, can somebody tell me if this tv can take 220V? i want to know what the power label on the back has
So where does the P series fit in ? Vs the 4 , 5 and series
when I connect the tv to pc (hdmi) the sharpness settings locks at 20, how to turn it off, and give it at 0 ?
Should I wait for the TCL 6 series or buy this one..any suggest?
What Travis said is true, u should wait that's what I'm doing
Travis B would you recommend getting Sony 930 e for gaming ?
Good video, but I don't understand why most people say to use auto for picture size. This leads to overscan on a lot of stuff. Just use direct.
Thank you. Very informative.
In the Middle East we don't have sony X720 we have X700E what difference between them!
I just bought the new TCL P6 series in Australia and it's only got 2 HDMI ports , no gaming mode and no HDR dark option .
Thanks so much for making a video on this TV. :)
How about P6?
stupidest question - how do you adjust picture settings for just the tv itself, when you don't have any inputs in? I just want to use the roku tv.
I want this TV but I'm gonna wait till spring when the new 2018 P-series comes out with 96 zones instead of 72 for the same price!!
I would really like to have my TV off what I call movie mode. And makethe picture fill the hold TV.
Under the settings, try to adjust the 'Picture Size' setting.
What a great value of a t.v.!
Great stuff. Thank you.
Wow!..Vous etes une excellente équipe. J'ai hâte de voir le modèle sony x900f. Merci les gars.
Great Vid. Subscribed.
If you close your eyes it feels like john malkovich is giving you Tv setting tips. Lol jk. Appreciate the information. Thanks.
Great settings great tv
In Europe we have the TCL U49C7006 with a real 10 bit www.displayspecifications.com/en/model/efbdcdf what do you think about it ??
2.0 gamma blows out detail in bright scene in my video games. Picture lacks punch 2.2 gamma looks better
Great work!
lost 90% of my brain just by watching this.
I LOVE the soap opera effect.
Any ideas on settings I can use to achieve this effect?
MOBROOKS this TV doesn't have it.
Color set to 45 is too low. The pic is faded looking. It needs to be atleast 55.
Hey, send me one of those TVs ur not using! Please😀
Dammmm daniel
What about the model p612 is like these ones?
Can I use the same settings on the R617
