Can you imagine being someone who is schizophrenic or in someway struggles with delusions and then hearing millions of people on the Internet tell you that you are not real and that you can escape to other realities? seriously dangerous rhetoric
Yeah I go through delusional episodes that are exactly that, and honestly I have to stay away from tik tok for that reason. I watch the videos my friends send me and seek out absolutely nothing on my own. My brain tells me I’m living in a simulation where the only escape is death just fine on its own; I don’t need a fifteen-year-old babbling nonsense in an attempt to confirm it lmao
I talked with some who was schizophrenic and bad episodes, somebody convinced them that they should "shift" so it could comfort them but it made their delusions worst.
schizophrenic people dont listen to other people, they only put faith and thought into their own thoughts and ideas, not being able to reason with them also means you cant really troll them either, they sometimes take inspiration from the world, connecting 1 idea to another, but you cant really "direct" them towards any idea
Amen. This is a very well made video too. Funny and still sensitive to those with real disabilities. This is just kids playing pretend. Man, I'm really glad I didn't have a phone when I was in my childhood 😅 - I was embarrassing! I used to think if I held on tight to an umbrella, that I would safely float down from anything like Kirby. Lmao. The adults doing it.. need a reality smack. Or to just find other adults to do it with. Telling kids their imaginations are 100% real is dangerous.
@@minajones8341yes, it is bad when people confuse their desired reality with this one, but there’s nothing wrong with the shifting community. creators like this are bringing the attention to shifting ( mainly tiktoks fault ) and it’s bringing a ton of hate into this community of mainly minors. all im saying is for you not to put reality in quotation marks, because that can be offensive to shifters. you wouldn’t put other words in quote marks unless you’re trying to offend them, not always but most of the time. so could you and everybody else just leave the shifting community alone, and if you’re going to pull out the “get a therapist” or “but it’s a mental disorder” card, then you can just shut up. im not talking about the people who actually do need help, im talking about the shifters in general. so please be a little more respectful to the shifting community.
I once had a dream where i was eating a person’s face in a dark, damp room and i woke up in paralysis. I commented it on one of those shift toks (for some reason) and everybody was telling me i had actually killed a real person. I can not with this generation

Have you seen Star vs the Forces of Evil? Marco, the main dude character, does pretty much that for real, except he became a badass warrior until he got to his 30s and then he had to go back to being a teenager again.
It would be the equivalent of making a lot of progress in a game for three hours, only to lose and then having to go back to the very beginning because you forgot to save in-between.
I actually saw a TikTok where a girl shifted to a reality to MURDER people… everyone in the comments called her a murderer… some even said she actually had to go to jail in THIS reality because she murdered “real” people… because apparently in the shifting community, every single person is real, even the ones in other realities. So they said she was a terrible person for killing “real” people with “real” feelings
This shit is honestly terrifying to me. As a schizophrenic with delusions that often include being forced into another reality (sometimes to the point of losing complete touch with reality and missing weeks or months of real time), the idea that people are just going around with all this "it's a simulation" stuff or "I spent 3 years at Hogwarts".. that's so scary. And it really can be dangerous for people like me who already struggle so much with staying in touch with reality, having people outside of our head suggest we aren't real or that reality is practically collapsing all around as at any given point can absolutely increase our suffering.
If it puts your mind at ease (somewhat) - shifting is, most definitely, just lucid dreaming and nothing more. Lucid dreaming is real and it's also pretty awesome, but all of these people are massively exaggerating their experiences (or just lying entirely to fit in). It also takes quite a lot of practice to do it with any amount of consistancy or stability (the vast majority of people will just wake up the instant they start lucid dreaming due to the excitement of it working, which takes a lot of time/patience to get past). So, long story short, Gen Z discovered lucid dreaming, gave it a new name, and massively exaggerated their experiences with it.
So you say you're schizophrenic, and I am a reality shifter. Just to clearify, reality shifters don't say that we live in a simulations, that's a theory, but has NOTHING to do with reality shifters. Real shifters know that's not true, no, they believe we live in realitites, like dimensions. And that's nothing like simulations. And they do not say that we, people are not real, that's absurd. And we do not say that our reality is collapsing around us, I wonder who told you that, because they aren't shifters. I don't know how it is for a schizophrenic person to know about reality shifting but I'm a person with mental health issues and It totally helped me and saved my life. It's fine If you don't believe in it, but don't put words in mouths of real shifters
The worst part of all of this is that these kids think they can go to a world where they have magic and are as powerful as they want. They instead choose to screw Draco Malfoy....
I just want to point out that not everyone is shifting for that purpose (you probably already knew that but I just wanted to point it out) me for example I'm shifting so I can escape everything I'm dealing with, and I go somewhere that I belong and somewhere where I'm free from everything and get to see my comfort character. Of course some people are shifting so they can sleep with draco but there's also people like me who are shifting for another reason
Not all of them do. I don't like Draco, and I'm just going to live there, lol. I want to go to Hogwarts, try different magical jobs, be a part of the Order, try new things. I have in fact shifted before, just not to a DR. And believe me, I could not tell it was not my CR. I mean, I saw a few things were different, but I made up excuses for why it was that way, as I am lazy af and did not want to check. It was as real as this reality, I swear. Lucid dreaming cannot do that. I mean, I watch about 50+ TH-cam videos a day, and so did I in that parallel CR, I'd be a fucking genius to perfectly make up TH-cam videos.
@@meropedurwood5514 yeah, people get the idea that it's fake and just lucid dreaming but its not lucid dreaming lucid dreaming you really don't have control over the dream but shifting you have complete control over. Yes, you don't have to script nor listen tiktok about this. Infact you can leave it all up to the universe if you'd like but it's not fake. As a person who has known about this for a long time, it really isn't lucid dreaming nor is it fake.
@@thespectrumshock269 I agree with you, but I think you switched the definitions of shifting and lucid dreaming. When you shift, you cannot control your surroundings, you're not God. I would assume they would be purebloods in their supposed ideal reality. Nevermind the fact that Draco would be an adult by the time they go to Hogwarts.
It also just doesn't make sense, since they say you have to write a script and know everything about what you 'shift' into so J.K would literally have to write it beforehand either way

I am mentally unstable, but not in that way and a few of my friends are in the shifting community so I just got a little bit closer to them for about two weeks and then everything went back to normal and I always did things and took like an hour to script at night which I still do if I’m going to shift, which is about three or four times a month(I am depressed, but my escapism is Minecraft and that’s a lot more healthy because all my friends play Minecraft so the most you’ll get is a rant about Pandoras vault)

As a person who daydreams often, I can say that imagining meeting your favorite characters isn’t automatically a bad thing. The problem comes when you begin to convince yourself that it’s real, if you keep pretending that these people and places are real you will get sick mentally. My daydreams aren’t the healthiest, but I’m seeing a therapist and actively seeking help to get through my past trauma. Over the last year my daydreams have become less important to my daily life and I’m living happy and in the moment. Shifting isn’t real and it isn’t healthy
I daydream too! I don't really think shifting is real but I still enjoy thinking about a wholesome story with characters that I like. I usually do it before sleeping, it gets me really relaxed.

I think that nobody talks enough about the fact that when you "shift”, you create the possibility that you will start hating your reality. I know this girl on TikTok who constantly posts TikToks where she is crying about waking up from her desire reality, shows how she changes her physical appearance because she doesn’t like her real body, doesn’t make friends because she says the only friends she needs are the ones from hogwarts, etc. And it’s really sad how much these people are desperate to scape this world. So, even if you are a Harry Potter fan and you would like to meet your confort characters, it’s better to start working on this reality, because it’s the only one that counts.
Jokes on you I'm not a shifter and I already hate my reality and would do anything to go somewhere else. I just can't force myself to believe in things with no evidence
When I first saw a shifting TIkTok I googled what "shifting" meant because I didn't understand what was going on and found an article where they spoke to a therapist about it. She claimed that there was nothing inherently mentally unhealthy or harmful about shifting, unless the idea of "consensual reality" is being challenged (i.e. they no longer know what is and isn't real as agreed upon by society). What I don't think a lot of older people or mental health professionals are understanding is how seriously some kids seem to be taking this and that rejecting the currently agreed upon version of reality is almost necessary to being a part of the shifting community. Mental health experts say that shifting is in essence deep meditation, but shifters insist it is an actual part of our real existence, not just inside their heads. That is a rejection of the consensus reality and it is NOT HEALTHY.
yeah i think that's a really good point, and it's just so worrying that it's the unhealthy mindset that seems to consume most of the shifting side of tiktok, and a lot of the audience that get stuck in that rabbithole are only minors )):
Did she talk at all about whether it has a negative effect on your life and your ability to handle the basic aspects of living in society?? If it is interfering with you getting and keeping a job, keeping up with your regular bills and chores, maintaining friendships, and stuff like that, then it is definetely unhealthy, and I would be surprised if she didn't talk about that. For me, the issue with this all is that people are advertising shifting as something that everyone needs to try, and as a way to live your fantasy and escape this reality. You might as well be advertising drugs at that point... sure, shifting may not be physically dangerous like drugs, or cause physical withdrawal symptoms like drugs, but it is just as capable of making people hopelessly addicted to it. If you give some the ability to live in a perfect, fantasy world, then there is a really good chance they will choose to live there instead of here, especially if they believe that world is just as real is this one. That is seriously unhealthy. Sure, if you are using it to escape trauma I get it, but there are still things in this reality that are worth sticking around for. If you keep shifting away into another world, dedicating yourself to that reality more and more, until it becomes more important than this one, who knows what amazing things here that you could end up missing out on. What if the pain from this reality would have ended up starting you on an amazing journey of self discovery and love and personal success, but you never get to experience it because you kept choosing the other reality?? Getting all your fantasies fulfilled sounds amazing, but at a certain point, I don't think it would be very meaningful. If everything goes the way you want, and you specifically go to a world where it is automatically great for you, what exactly has been achieved? There would be no struggle, nothing to overcome, no adversity to rise above. I just can't help but think that succeeding in our world where pain and suffering exists would be so much more meaningful than succeeding in a world where you were meant to succeed from the start, you know? I just hope people don't waste away their lives in a fantasy world, never actually sticking around in this one long enough to give it a shot. Sometimes you may end up spending years struggling, but what if it ends up being worth it in the end? What if you end up achieving your dreams despite all the pain and suffering?? Would it be worth throwing that life away for a fantasy life where everything always goes right? I don't think it would.
“Shifting” sounds a lot like plain old disassociating or derealization. It happens to a lot of people who have depression because they’re essentially trying to escape reality.
Lmao I was going to say! I was a suuuuuuuper depressed 13year old "shifting" in my dreams realities for what felt like weeks at a time. I even got married once 😰
Yeah that's why so many people being like "haha gen z cringe" feels very wrong to me, these people seem to suffer from mental health problems and just laughing at that feels wrong
I had a shifting phase. It went on for about a year and a half, so I was like 13/14. I was UNHEALTHILY obsessed with anime, and I'd try and shift every night to a different storyline where all the things I hated about myself were erased or improved. This was also during the lockdown which made it even worse. I listened to those 'shifting subliminals' while I was doing schoolwork. They triggered severe dissociation and I would listen to them for hours on end, believing that the dissociation was helping me shift. In the shifting community, many big creators talk a lot about how 'if you are shifting to escape, the universe will stop you', but the entire idea of shifting is based on escapism and dissociation. That year and a half that I was trying to shift, I had really bad intrusive thoughts and was dissociating at random points in my daily life. I'm very lucky to not struggle with those things much anymore but I still come across them on occasion. Shifting is unhealthy. Don't get into it, the consequences could be irreversible. - ming
I haven’t ever tried to shift because I didn’t even know about it until recently, but I did have some nights when I was younger when I imagined myself getting isekaied into an anime universe and interacting with the characters there before going to sleep, so this kind of resonates with me.
All of the people who say things like “JK Rowling must have shifted to come up with all of this” piss me off on so many levels. Like first of all-it’s just wizards guys. it’s just wizards with some latin. it is really not the most creative thing ever. secondly-it has the same energy as people saying “wow did you make that while on drugs???” like things like that annoy me so much. just because you’re not creative doesn’t mean people can’t be.

I'm an 11 year old and I want to try to explore a dr but I'm a Christian and ppl say its witch craft and I want to lucid dream but ppl say its demonic and I'm scared of sleep paralysis
@@tazurajulianseditor7389 lucid dreaming is not a supernatural occurance. It's literally a normal dream except you're aware of the fact that you're dreaming, so you can control what your brain visualises. Not demonic and not witchcraft.
As someone from ireland can i just say that listening to this is a whole new level of mental gymnastics In ireland we say “shifting” instead of “making out”
Honestly what confuses me the most are those people saying they spent multiple years bcs like After you live with someone or something for three whole years, you would prob enter a deep grieving process of losing them after coming back to our reality, and would prob need treatment to readjust to modern way of living But well at least you would bone draco
One of my best friends had to go therapy when she was little because she was confused if this reality was real or not because she shift and she learned in the therapy that the two reality are real and she still shift sometimes. She said is a awesome and magical experience, if anyone wants to do shift I'd recommend first organize your life, do therapy or go to a psychologist, meditate and rosolve your problems because before you shift you has to be in peace and in calm because in the contrary you could live what's happen to my friend or something worse
@@ravenpark3360 hate to break it to ya bud, but your friend is lying. No legitimate therapist will tell their patients unproven ideas and certainly not when science is currently opposing those ideas. Though it could be that your friend just interpreted the things that the therapist said wrong. And even if the therapist did say those things, who is he/she to determine whether alternate universes exist? Isn't that the job of physicians?
I was a kid who constantly daydreamed, read and wished I was in another world and i would have 100% believed this if I knew about it. I actually thought it could be a real thing until I did some research lol. I worry for kids like me today who are getting sucked into this, it's sad that psychosis and dissociation is being promoted and is passed off as innocent fun.
I don't know why people are so ashamed of saying they have active imaginations. I visualize meeting book characters, leaders, to imagine what meeting them would be like. You don't have to pretend to go to another reality, just admit you like self insert fanfiction.
yea lmao i feel like it'd be more understandable to say "oh i read self insert fics" rather than saying "i travelled to another reality just to bone my fave character"
THIS!! I have a really active imagination so whenever people try to explain ‘shifting’ to me it literally just sounds like dreams I’ve had. Like I’ve literally had a dream where I went to college for four years with my favorite anime character. Is that kinda weird? Yes, but I’m not gonna say I was in an alternate reality because I wasn’t. Like I literally had to study take n fail finals in a dream ☹️
My thoughts exactly lmao. Then again when I was 14 I drafted this convoluted premise for a magical alternate realm where you could hang out with fictional characters and I’m not too proud to admit I kind of started to wonder if I was onto something. I think there’s something to be said for a developmental creative stage between make-believe and becoming a storyteller, where the line between play and craft is very blurry (hence the focus on OCs with no context, role-playing, self-insert fics, etc.). Kids this age do a lot of goofy stuff in the process of forming their own identity, and while the added dimension of social media making your pupal stage super public certainly doesn’t help, most of them will outgrow this kind of expression.
@@giggles4895 these are evidence of the creative power of our brains. You didn't “shift” to another reality, your brain created a world that was detailed enough to feel real.
As someone who experiences derealization and depersonalization, ‘shifting’ is an unhealthy way to cope. It’s essentially avoiding your real life by lucid dreaming. Lucid dreaming is fun and all, but creating this belief and cultivating it with a community filled with minors can’t be healthy.
depersonalization and derealization is something I've dealt with most my life and I seriously worry about this triggering a psychotic or dissociative episode in someone.
all those tiktok stans are just sexualising the characters ALL THE TIME and its so weird considering most of them are minors almost the entire series lmao
@@tindraakerlind9748 exactly like ''im gonna shift so draco can rail me'' that is literally so weird since those characters would still have feelings in their dr and??? it really weirds me out

My mother suffered abuse as a child and dissociated to a made up world to protect herself from it. She didn't start getting therapy until she was in her 30s, and she's now 49 and still has this dissociation problem occasionally. It's actually very disruptive even though the world in her head is a pleasant one.
I tried following one of the shifting methods once bc why not, and honestly? Ive never slept better than when i "tried" shifting. Literally, like a log, didn't even dream. Loved it
seems like a okay place to say this. i try to shift every now and then. not to escape or anything, just because i want to be in hogwarts learning magic with characters and stuff. i’ve read these comments and am now terrified to, thinking i’ll get mental disorders and stuff when i know it’s just in my head and is not reality. i did not know it was lucid dreaming and now im scared but i sleep so well when i try to
I think that a lot of the people who think they are shifting are either lucid dreaming or maladaptive daydreaming. I would also like to say that the shifting community is creepily positive and cult like.
@@arcadeii as someone who also lucid dreams - no it is not. In lucid dreams, you can't read, tell time, look in a mirror, etc. You can do these things when you shift. Reality checks also fail in dreams: this is not true when you shift (ie, when you shift you cant press your finger through your palm, or cause illogical stuff to happen). Also, time dilation is possible when you shift, but not when you lucid dream. You can also shift without falling asleep. And when you shift you cannot control the world or people around you, which you can do when you lucid dream. Just to name a few differences.
@@caitlinb35 I never said it was a cult, just very cult like. I understand not wanting to be in this reality, it sucks here and maybe thinking you can shift and leave is what help you get through it but also you need to be careful about who you preach too. The audience for shifting is often very young and impressionable. I understand it has religious significance to some but like with my opinion of christianity, do what you want but please don’t brainwash kids. If you are an adult or near adult then do what you want and choose what you believe but leave kids alone, they need to be given a chance to grow and decide for themselves without being given wild promises and constant assurance that you are right.
Yeah I was actually in that phase like a year ago glad I'm out of that, because I never actually shift or anything I just sleep so Im just convince that it's fake or something
Shifting is technically real in the form of dissociation and lucid dreaming which in itself isn’t unhealthy, but what IS unhealthy is encouraging kids to hate their reality and want to escape from it every night, and treating it like some crazy religious experience.
You can't really process time when you're lucid dreaming. I remember a lucid dream of mine where I kept waking up in a dream over and over again. It felt like I had been dreaming for months. Is it cool to be able to script your dreams? Yes. Are they shifting realities? Probably not.
yes exactly! when you shift, time is linear, which is a huge difference between shifting and lucid dreaming and the fact that time progresses linearly is actually another big reason why it feels so real When you're dreaming/in a lucid dream you know that you're in a dream, but when you shift everything will feel real and you will immediately know it's actually really jarring for the first time literally fucking waking up somewhere else
I still don’t get how people script their dreams😭 i’ve had a lucid dream many times, but they’re never scripted. I think this is maladaptive daydreaming for these people who believe they’ve actually shifted. I’d love to script my dreams so I wouldn’t have nightmares anymore
That comment brought a tear to my eye. I can only hope that somehow, in some way, things will get better for you in this world. I wish you all the best. ❤️
see I would shift into a world where only the funny and actually useful videos exist, no charlie no "hype" just things that make me happy or are interesting.
Maybe that's bc you're watching a tiny clip of what ppl have to say that was put together by someone who, from the beginning, was convinced they're all delusional, and not actually asking anyone in the community? Also: reality checks that fail in dreams (e.g. counting your fingers, pinching your nose and trying to breathe) have the same outcome as in your waking life (e.g. your fingers look like they always do, you can't breathe through a pinched nose) Time also moves normally, just like when you're awake, unlike in dreams Just 2 quick examples
the nature of humanity is that every few years someone reinvents metaphysical philosophy (if you leave out the shifting and hogwarts crap) i mean it's ok to think deeper about our existence and stuff but that doesn't mean you have to become delusional.
I mean it's not exactly delusional. I've been looking into witchcraft lately (wait for it) and I was surprised to realize that it turns out it's always the same recycled actually proven phenomenon in psychology but with different terms. Shifting, Dissociating, Depersonalizing, Astral Projecting, Daydreaming, Hypnosis. That's kind of all the same thing but with different names and method. There's validity to it in the sense that it's probably them just putting themselves under hypnosis and dissociating themselves into a specific fantasy they have, it would feel completely real to them especially if they use full hypnosis rather than semi-hypnosis and if it feels real it wouldn't be actually strange to imagine that the experience they went through during that time actually impacted them as a person and gave them growth especially if they did for a really long time. They just lack the self-awareness to realize that it's an easily explainable occurrence that goes further than "Alternate Realities are real and Hogwarts actually exist and we can travel through portals". But they're mostly young. I was convinced for a super long time that my family lied to me and my mom wasn't my biological mother but somehow my dad was my bio dad and I couldn't donate my blood or everyone will know. Kids make weird shit up, they'll either move on from it and class it as a "yikes that was cringey" thing or they'll actually do more research and transform it into a responsible thing. It can be dangerous tho and it's concerning that they're doing it probably without knowing the risks (creating psychotic episodes, a dissociative identity disorder, paranoia) since it's supposedly a "new practice".
I don't actually think the magical world has restraining orders or anything like that, and I doubt he'd know about the magical equivalent -- as for whether or not he'd use it... he'd probably be desperate enough at that point in time. Although maybe the shifters will just include something about no restraining orders in their new scripts.
I’d love to see two “Shifters” try to shift into the same universe and have a conversation, without scripting together or consulting each other beforehand, other than where you’re going to “shift” to. If you can go anywhere, surely you can have a conversation with your bestie? Then both of you can remember what the other said, right? /s
i was wondering the same thing. like, these people are trying to shift to the same universe. you’d think they’d be running into fellow shifters if they’re actually doing what they say they’re doing.
@@devil-byte hey im a shifter, dont mean to be attacked but! we arent shifting to the same reality :D, we are shifting to a reality where we are in that reality, (already existing), while others who shift are shifting to realities where they are in that reality, (already existing). please if u have questions, ask them! its rlly upsetting when people think we're crazy and dont bother to hear us explain :(
I recently left the community after coming to the realisation that it really isn't real, and its definitely some form of disassociation. I'm glad I got out before things got too serious. I remember feeling really detached from life and thinking, hold on this isn't normal. I also want to highlight that the community is incredibly toxic - they have this thing called "respawning" which is essentially ending your life in this reality and you'll wake up in your "desired reality". the fact that this is encouraged to impressionable young minds is quite frankly disgusting. Young children are literally going to commit suicide because they believe that they will wake up in their fave place. It's really sad and needs to stop.
Same its sad that all this kids are trying there hardest to get away from there lives promising to go to there favorite show trying every night its sad becuase ive done that and it made me super sad and lonely waiting to meet my favorite charaters I'm getting better tho
@Captain Levi i read more into it the other day and apparently it's not suicide. i think that is a way that you can "respawn" but there are other ways. i'm not really sure how and i don't really care but it's essentially "cutting ties with your current reality," which is still fucked up. encouraging kids to completely reject this reality will lead to serious mental health problems.
The first “shifting” method sounds a lot like methods used to teach yourself to lucid dream. If you’re trying to have a lucid dream, it’s common to do similar meditations before sleep (picturing what you want to see in your dream as you’re falling asleep, etc.) Honestly shifting literally just seems like a form of lucid dreaming to me, except these people seem to believe they’re not actually dreaming, whereas usually the point of lucid dreaming is that you know it’s a dream.
If they were lucid dreaming, I don’t get how they’d be able to create a script in their mind and have it perfectly display how they want it to be. is it even possible to have that much control while dreaming?
i don’t wanna poke fun at em cuz they’re teenagers who are obviously in a dark place if they’re this desperate to escape reality but this is so.. much work 😭 just write a fanfic about yourself and whoever you want
They aren’t in a dark place these teens except special cases haven’t experienced real trauma, sure you might get some bully’s but there’s always bullies they aren’t getting drafted for war most of them have a really healthy life they just think they are so deprived it’s saddening
@@Ckrost most of these people have actually gone through alot of shit all of my friends who believe in shifting have really horrible lives so not really
Just wanted to add my two cents: I suffered from sleep paralysis, night terrors, and just chronically have nightmares that are too vivid (for most of my life). Monitoring my diet before bed did nothing. Lucid dreaming once a blue moon gives me peace. When I started therapy, we started to script my dreams beforehand to trigger lucid dreaming and make sure I don’t have a nightmare or rewrite a reoccurring nightmare. A bit after that I came across shifting on tiktok. It’s essentially the same thing. Our perceptions in dreams can become blurred at times, our brains are freaky. Time perception in dreams can make it feel like days or months go by. Dreams are manifestations of our subconscious, as far as we know. Scripting is a legit therapy practice, HOWEVER I do not like how tiktok has framed this as some superpower and transportation method, and that CIA document has no correlation/causation to these experiences.
@@iulia-bn3gx I don't know about the original comment but I've had lucid dreams for most of my life and yes sometimes it can feel like they last for days, I think the longest one I had lasted a couple of weeks not a full month but almost there, in my experience you don't "live" the whole days only the most important parts and because while we are dreaming our sense of reality is kind of disoriented you interpret that as the full day passing. Like if you know for a fact that something is supposed to happen in three days within your dream and you get to that point you just assumed it's been three days
@@iulia-bn3gx TW DEATH/SUICIDE When I used to basically only have lucid dreams due to trauma it would feel like the dream was lasting weeks upon weeks and I couldn’t escape without essentially killing myself because our brain can’t interpret that feeling. I couldn’t literally go to sleep in my dream and wake up and still be in the same dream, it was trippy. Ofc I wasn’t actually asleep in my dream bc all of it is an altered sense of reality that your brain is making up. It’s scary and I was only able to get out of my dreams in other ways when I scripted them with the help of my therapist. Mine are gone now for the most part but if you’re going through something “shifting” isn’t something you want to mess without a mental help provider to plan it out so you can have control of your dreams and not make decisions that can leave you feeling worse in reality.

No you're right. I watched Generation Loss, an indie psychological horrorshow about the protagonist only being a character in a liveshow for the greater masses to control and them trying to break out of it, and what leads me to my point is the timeloop theory. That once the liveshow inside this liveshow ends, it just starts over the same as before. That for me created a lot of existential dread that I ignored as I got ready for bed. I finished this show thinking I totally wasn't impacted, and a short night's sleep later I wake up, and I start my day with derealisation that soon became a long and extreme existential anxiety attack. My mom still lives under the belief that I'm a perfectly normal child and that there's nothing to treat or pay extra mind to
You think if this were real people would rather shift into a universe where they’re mega fucking rich or one where a loved one is still alive, but sure I guess banging Draco Malfoy is..... an option 😐
not everyone wants to get railed by draco, the majority of us (including me) just want to finally feel at home and be friends with their comfort characters and experience magic and just be who they wanna be. i want to have fun with the golden trio and be best friends with luna and neville and have fun doing magic and going on adventures, and as much as i am a draco simp (and have been since 3rd grade when i started investing in the series), that’s not what i’m shifting for. i’m shifting to be where i’ve wanted to be since i was 8 and experience magic
I really don’t get it. Harry Potter has been my number one thing that I consider myself a fan of for the past 15 years. When I was a kid, people hated Malfoy. As we got older we saw that he was somewhat redeemable. But none of my friends fantasise about boning him. Because he’s a child. Like, younger teenagers and kids that crush on Malfoy, that’s fine. But like, seeing these people aged 18 to around 23 talking about Draco in that way... c’mon. It’s messed up.
i think it would be interesting to play with the limits of them. like go into a reality with magic and see how badly you can mess stuff up with magical powers. maybe crash the universe a little with your metaphysical bug testing.
honestly sounded like my mental breakdown with my best friend every month. one time i said medications were controlling us because we take them and then we do things, i said something like that
I do want to point out that trauma isn’t always going off to war. A pandemic, economic instability, and the ice caps melting around us can certainly traumatize the kids spending their formative years in a world that hasn’t given them hope for a viable future. This “shifting” is extremely concerning and not entirely surprising.
Yeah I 100% agree. WAY too little comments about this. Trauma isn’t just war. Things that have a lasting negative effect on You are trauma. PTSD has a certain set of symptoms. If You have them, it doesn’t matter if the situation “wasn’t that bad” - it evidently was bad ENOUGH to cause lasting trauma! Our young generations ARE severely traumatised. Telling them they’re not will not make them less traumatised lol I’m genuinely not surprised that “shifting” is so incredibly popular - it’s like THE perfect and most realistic way of using escapism to cope! Invalidating people’s feelings and shitting on their trauma won’t make them any better. In fact, it will almost certainly make them worse.
@@alexanderendrizzi462 fr!!! covid trauma is very very real and the idea that the only place trauma can come from is large-scale bloodshed is a good way to invalidate a lot of people's experiences real quick

Funny how in their "shifts" they are always magical, always happen to be besties with the main characters, and get to do what they want. It'd be more believable if they shifted into a Potterverse McDonald's worker who served Harry, Ron, and Hermione one time, but otherwise lived a mundane life.
"shifting" is just writing Mary Sue fanfiction with more steps. (or maybe less steps cause you're not even writing it down.. you're just imagining it while half asleep..)
Bahaha I was thinking this. Like "the Harry Potter universe actually exists" but also you can change the time to whenever you want and be whoever you want to be and look however you want to be. They always say like "The difference between a lucid dream and shifting is that in shifting you can't change things." Isn't that exactly what scripting is? If the Harry Potter reality is a real, static, unchanging reality like they say it is, Draco Malfoy should be hating all those girls guts and ignoring them hardcore and also be 50 and married... Like I don't get it. You shift into a different reality that exists but it can be whatever you want. Either they are literally inventing a reality out of their own imagination and brain power, or there is a reality for every single miniscule difference and infinite realities in which Draco was never born??

@@inactive5924 there's no "agreed upon version of reality" there's just one factual reality where harry potter is a work of fiction

Time also moves normally, just like when you're awake, unlike in dreams
Just 2 quick examples
This stuff is really triggering to a lot of mental illnesses and tbh seems actually extremely harmful to be widespread irresponsibly like this
the nature of humanity is that every few years someone reinvents metaphysical philosophy (if you leave out the shifting and hogwarts crap) i mean it's ok to think deeper about our existence and stuff but that doesn't mean you have to become delusional.

The first “shifting” method sounds a lot like methods used to teach yourself to lucid dream.
I couldn’t literally go to sleep in my dream and wake up and still be in the same dream, it was trippy.
My mom still lives under the belief that I'm a perfectly normal child and that there's nothing to treat or pay extra mind to
@@sand_eater101 LMAO i know what genloss is!!!! (and your feelings are so valid) also hello fello lovejoy fan
This seems like an extremely unhealthy version of maladaptive dreaming
i have a friend who maldaptively daydreams and both are really really bad
You think if this were real people would rather shift into a universe where they’re mega fucking rich or one where a loved one is still alive, but sure I guess banging Draco Malfoy is..... an option 😐
well you can get rich in real life but you’ll never get to meet draco malfoy ig lmaooo idek
not everyone wants to get railed by draco, the majority of us (including me) just want to finally feel at home and be friends with their comfort characters and experience magic and just be who they wanna be. i want to have fun with the golden trio and be best friends with luna and neville and have fun doing magic and going on adventures, and as much as i am a draco simp (and have been since 3rd grade when i started investing in the series), that’s not what i’m shifting for. i’m shifting to be where i’ve wanted to be since i was 8 and experience magic
@@t4marrra no u
i think it would be interesting to play with the limits of them. like go into a reality with magic and see how badly you can mess stuff up with magical powers. maybe crash the universe a little with your metaphysical bug testing.
The girl talking about how Maybe Everything Isn't Real sounds like me talking to my therapist during an Episode
True ,derealization at its worst
honestly sounded like my mental breakdown with my best friend every month. one time i said medications were controlling us because we take them and then we do things, i said something like that
Yeah I felt my depersonalisation kick in and I was like uuuuh no no no
Stay well 💙
I do want to point out that trauma isn’t always going off to war.
I'm pretty sure shifting is just a unhealthy coping mechanism, we saw a large growth in shifting during the pandemic and this is because people are lonely and depressed. Even if shifting is real, it's not healthy. You should look for happiness in your own reality, not in someone elses.
Im happy im not in the community anymore
@@eden9536 I tried to shift once but realized that my own mental safety was at risk. I think others need to consider the concesquences of their actions beyond "I might be mentally tired later." I'm glad you were able to see that! 😊
@@GeraldTheLlama i tried for months and it was so hard to leave the community but i think it was the lack of documents and proof (just testimonies of ppl) so this is why i leave it and tried lucid dreaming instead
@@eden9536 okay i’m still so confused about it all- like does a clone actually take over your body? can someone really be in hogwarts or wherever for three years? i’ve had friends talking about doing it, writing scripts etc, but i still don’t get it
@@Clara-ze9hu So basically they believe about travel with your mind into alternatives reality. There is not really proof about they said that CIA make experience about it BUT it’s not about travel through different realities. Also I thinks it’s meaningless that we can travel into fantasy universe first because they said that they are real person so not fictionals and you need to “come back home” and how they can be real when it’s J.K Rowling that create them, so you are telling me you saw Tom felton interpreted Malfoy ? 😭 it’s also applies for anime etc
Funny how in their "shifts" they are always magical, always happen to be besties with the main characters, and get to do what they want. It'd be more believable if they shifted into a Potterverse McDonald's worker who served Harry, Ron, and Hermione one time, but otherwise lived a mundane life.
How do u know that’s not my script ._.
"shifting" is just writing Mary Sue fanfiction with more steps.
(or maybe less steps cause you're not even writing it down.. you're just imagining it while half asleep..)
Scripting.... that’s the point lol
They probably write self insert fan fictions
even if shifting is real, there are so many cooler places to go than hogwarts
That’s why I’m going to demon slayer
@@Samantha-uw8wz i thought ur already there Zenitsu 🙄
@@cloud6404 yeah but I need to go see nezuko Chan
fr it just has lots of visuals which makes it easier for people to shift ig idk. but definitely better places.
The world of Harry Potter is way more detailed then most shows or movie series. That’s what makes it popular.
Ok but if millions of teenagers constantly shifted to hogwarts wouldnt they meet each other at hogwarts at some point
thats.. not how it works 😭🙌🏼
@@auroramendoza8402 but surely it should happen if they’re ‘shifting’ to a different reality, one where we all exists but just have different lives 🙃
so... that's not how it works. they're not shifting in the same reality. they are shifting in different realities acording to their scripts
@@caitlananne you don’t know how it’s works dont talk about it…
@@r3yd3y1 So "different personalized realities"? Anyone who believes that is delusional.
Everyone going to "Different personalized lies" would be accurate though
The thing about reality is that it's reality. Stuff that happens in reality actually happens.
"Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away."
Lotta people desperate to go into HP to date Malfoy but guys, there are racists you can date in our universe too ❤❤

Draco would be like 40 now y'all... These little 15 year olds need to calm down
frr have you seen Tom Felton in the Flash
