Thank you Charity. I learned how to do the Indian long stitch-Kantha, from The Last Homely House. But never thought todo small areas. Thank you. For that and the other two stitches. Can’t wait to get started using one or two of these on It’s a Snap.

You made me think of years ago when I took embroidery hoops stitched the circle inside it. Then moved it to make 4 circles equil around the first circle which gave a leaf designs continuing all over

Loved this and all the hints. Very clear and looks easy. I have an old quilt book (Martingale; Judy Hopkins) that tacks in different patterns. It looks similar to seed. Any special hints you have? Do you tack? When? I have a scrap quilt I wanted to use it on.

Thank you for this video. You explained the tools and the stitches very well . I will try out some of your methods on my next quilt. Is it ok to combine machine and hand quilting?

Absolutely! I'm about to try and do that myself. I'm going to do just some stitch in the ditch to make sure it's all secure and then accent with hand quilting. - Hannah

This looks awful and does not look like hand quilting. Please Google actual hand quilting. This is close to sashisko stitching, but not using traditional sashisko patterns.

      You are
      right.I don'tunderstand
      this big stitch
quiltIng. It doesn't look good or professional. After all that work on piecing you would think they would want it to look pretty.

My mother would not have appreciated the different stitches. She strictly did shadow stitch, as did her generation. She also struggled with machine quilting, she thought it should be hand quilted! Like everything else, types of quilting have changed through the years. To each their own. If I could still hold a needle I would try hand quilting again. We need to be kind. You may not like it, but to some it gives them hope that they can hand quilt and not go wrong with their stitches. Have a great day, happy quilting!

Different strokes for different folks! Our great grandmas quilted 15 to an inch but I bet they would find this quilting interesting. No quilt police….do it your way and enjoy the creativity of others!
