The Celtics being healthy (minus KP right now) is the main difference between them now and the way they were the previous 5 years. Tatum and Brown have dealt with so many important players being injured through the playoffs that it's wild they make it as far as they do every year. Kyrie, Hayward, Kemba, Rob Williams, Brogdon, and some others have missed up to entire playoff runs while Tatum and Brown continued to chug along and get so close to a championship every year. The Celtics having like 40-50% of their salary cap injured during the playoffs was a plague for like 6 straight years. They finally got relatively healthy and smoked the league.

I have to disagree. The only two guys you cited that were actually recent were Rob and Brogdon. And even though those injuries hurt them, I mainly think the team is better now. Tatum, Brown, and White have only gotten better the last couple years. And Porzingis/Holiday are better players and better fit than Rob/Smart. The former are better complimentary two way players than the latter.

They don't have any weaknesses in their starting lineup. The knicks tried to build a diet version with their own form of 5 out but now have 2 defensive liabilities in their starting lineup. I said from the moment the news broke, the Knicks lost the trade, big time. Towns is not a superstar, he is not a winner. He will make the Knicks much, much worse in the one area they desperately need to be good at, defence. When you then compare what the Knicks gave up offensively, I'm taking Randle and Devincenzo every day of the week so adding in to that deal the draft pick as well, it's a totally lop-sided trade. 95% of people, certainly in the media disagree with me, but that's how I see it. Lastly, Towns will play pretty good offence during the regular season and then struggle in the playoffs when teams can run schemes to stop him in a series. He'll just be racking up fouls and creating nightmares on defence. I wish them luck, they're going to need it.

You know what they say……Teamwork makes the dream work. When you have a team this good offensively, defensively, and not selfish, it’s hard to beat them. And being this good without KP says even more about this team. I know they’ve only played 2 games and the Knicks still have to find their rhythm and build chemistry, but think back to the beginning of last season. Celtics had 2 new players and had to find their rhythm and build chemistry but they did very well right off the rip.

As Celtics fan I at least respect what the Knicks are doing as opposed to Philly who I have no respect for whatsoever. Absolute clown show losing culture Embiid saying he’s not gonna play every game is a disgrace. The Celtics didn’t become what they are overnight Knicks need to get into some playoff battles with the Bucks or Pacers to forge an identity and build off of it going forward. Making the ECF is an attainable goal. And who knows maybe the Celtics have some injuries or something crazy or unforeseen happens you never know. Celtics vulnerability will be the age of Horford and the fragility of Porzingis maybe something comes of that that NYK can capitalize on. I doubt it and I think the Celtics have some lowkey very serviceable bigs but like I said you never know who’s gonna get hurt

This is tough for the Knicks. Other teams will hunt KAT because his perimeter defense issues are not exactly a state secret. Normally, the best way to counter this is play KAT in drop coverage. However, this isn't really feasible because Brunson is also very beatable on the perimeter. In my opinion, there's really two options:
    1. Play KAT in drop and place Brunson on a corner defender. This is doable because I think OG and Bridges can do a passably good job defending opposing guards. This requires the Knicks to switch immediately on defense to put Brunson on a corner shooter. It will become very complicated as teams run a double-screen or other maneuver to pull the corner shooter up and make the Knicks switch Brunson onto a shot creator. It also requires that the corner shooter to not be a cutting threat (ie, has to be a catch-and-shoot specialist).
    2. Play zone. Playing a zone would let the Knicks deploy Brunson in the corner without as much concern for switching. It would let OG and Bridges play at the top spots in the zone, taking the majority of the defensive work on the perimeter. KAT would play in the middle, maximizing his ability and simplifying things. The downside is that most good teams (ie, playoff level opponents) will simply find gaps in the zone to shoot from.
Tough question. I personally think going to more zone defense is probably their best option, but I don't think it changes the outcome against Boston. The differential might be smaller, but I still see Boston winning convincingly. It's also tough because Bridges is one of their best defenders, but he somehow broke his jumper, which makes it harder to play him when they need offense. It also isn't helped by the fact that, even in drop coverage, KAT isn't a particularly imposing defender. It's not like Gobert who is bad on the perimeter but good in drop. KAT is bad on the perimeter and somewhat less bad to average in drop.

Make Jason Tatum earn it with those two free throws. That is the statistically, physically, and psychologically most effective decision. The role players can now shoot with the three. So KAT defense led to 9 made 3s, but they made 29! That's probably why the direct highlights of KAT's bad perimeter defense jump from the 1st play of the game, 0-0, to the 3rd qtr down 26 pts. Then the non KAT highlights jump back to the 1st qtr when Sims was getting cooked. It seems very disingenuous to make start this vid like that just so you can say I called it, KAT hurt them defensively".
How did they hit the most 3s in a half to start the game? Was Tatum not completely destroying Bridges 1v1 for 3 qtrs, how is that not highlighted in this video? KAT can be VERY bad defensively, committing a number of terrible fouls, playing drop coverage on knockdown shooters, but game 1 wasn't the case. Celtics started their run after he went to the bench in the 1st qtr, he contested a number of those 3s in highlights, and his perimeter teammates gambled off their man on their own volition. Wait until he actually screws up before putting the blame all on him.
