Yashwant Vaishnav is in the same league regarding speed today, but Anokhe Lal Jee set the foundation to that as well as Anindo Chatterjee and others...
@@mysteriouscentury You can listen to Yashvant at half speed and it's as precise and clear as his real half speed playing. He's more precise than anybody today I know and his repertoire is huge and complex. Oldschool tabla is way more simple.
@@Leynad778 I am not trying to degrade Yashwant, but I believe that if we compare them both, Anokhelal is leagues better. Anokhelal laid the foundation for Yashwant and his gurus to walk on, without which said players would be playing much differently. Besides, they’re almost a hundred years apart. But they’re both amazing. Only time will make Yashwant a great player. For his age, he is exceptional. Though that’s pretty obvious. In my opinion, if Anokhelal was in today’s time or if Yashwant was in his (Anokhelal) time, I believe Anokhelal would be better. But I respect what you think.
@@mysteriouscentury l just had an online-course with Yashvant Ji's guruji, Yogesh Samsi and I also had a couple of months lessens with Anokhelal Ji's desicple and former head tabla-player at the University of Benares, Chote Lal Mishra. So I know both Gharanas and can tell, that the Benares gharana is very easy stuff in comparison to what Yogesh Ji is teaching. He can recite very complex compositions while playing theka vice versa for example. Benares Gharana is rather simple and Chote Lal Ji was admitting it in his book as well. Same with the compositions that Yashvant and Anokhelal Ji are/were playing. Doesn't mean complexity is better, but it's more difficult to accomplish for certain.
Such idiots you guys are ..Jo do maharathi ka tulna kar rahe ho..woh bhi do alag yug ke hain anokhelal ji senior hain unke..dono ka alag flavour of musical sense hain..kuch bhi bole ja rahe ho
The day I came across this video is the it changed my life...I felt like I am in Heaven and the Banares gharana❤️❤️ ...I just don't know how to put it in words...
And the english narrator does not care to mention his name. Says "this is one of the best tabla players in India". But still a subject of the empire. 😄
Imagine what it would have been like to listen to him live.
I have never seen such "dhir dhir" anywhere except from pandit ji. He has mastered it.....( Highest level of clarity and speed )

@@Leynad778Yashwant is nowhere near! Speed isn’t the only factor, Anokhelal’s every bol was clear even at such fast speeds.
