    Sorry Lee, you’re way, way wide of the mark with the self inflicted stuff. Childhood abuse stays with you for a long time, self destructiveness is one of the classic signs.

      Eventually you can. I had severe childhood trauma from birth until I was 16. I had complex PTSD until recently. Medication and therapy 100% will not cure it, but there's a lot you can do yourself to 100% recover from it. Because I have. And a lot of others have. And believe, I went through some very dark things. Anyone can recover and I hope one day, he finds his own way to do the same.

    tbh, I think we need to realise that the external behaviour of Dele, e.g. in the all or nothing doc when he sits down with mourinho, he puts on a casual, laid back, body language that says I don't care what you say. This can be a reaction from the trauma he had as a child where clearly, until his adoption, Male authority figures did some terrible things to him, so I can understand now with more clarity the type of behaviour and ultimately the struggles he faced in his career trying to suppress that trauma, I hope he overcomes this

  • @kylemotson218
    @kylemotson218 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I think before you questioned why footballers need sleeping pills, you should have done a tiny bit of research about the human body. When you do a physical activity your body is packed full of adrenaline. That’s why boxers sometimes say they can’t feel the punches they receive, it’s only afterwards when the body essentially starts to regulate itself. Next time you feel tired Lee, go for a run you’ll find that afterwards instead of feeling tired you’ll feel like you’ve just woken up because the adrenaline kicks in.

    I’m from MK as well mate, worked in one of the local secondary schools a while back, and he wasn’t very highly regarded among the kids who played at district and county level who knew him.
    Have to say though, if that’s the life he had in his youth, I find it hard to criticise him.
    I see a lot of what bad parents do to their children (still work in education) and I just hope he can get around this and save his career.

    You talk about it being convenient timing for Dele to come out with this but if he'd have told his story when at his career peak he would have been mocked and ridiculed. Comments such as "doesn't seem to have done you much harm" would have abounded. There is no set time for such revelations it's when you feel ready inside to open up to people. Don't judge him, you never know what the future holds for yourself.

      @@LEEREACTS you can have all the money and talent but if you ahve trauma it doesn't matter. The money and talent are the ways of hiding it. If you were molested at a young age it sits with you. It doesn't dissappear it just gets covered by behavior. Thats why he was behaving like a d*ck because he is giving off the energy he grew up with. His mom was hosting parties and he hosted parties not realizing he was actually just getting into a comfort zone.

    He may never be the same talent he was, but I think with the growth he has made as a person will make him a winning player in 4-5 years. Don’t be surprised to see him as an integral part of a team that is winning/competing silverware in the next few years. Squads like Inter this past year are common where old and experienced players who know how give themselves a shot.

    He alluded to the fact why he came out with this now in the interview. For one he had finished his rehab which came part of a longer process of realization that he had a problem. So its only now that he fully realizes how his past impacts his present life. I agree with you, that his recent career trajectory also probably played a part in it. 2) apparently some journalists got wind that he'd been to rehab and in light of that, he prefered to own the narrative at least. He even said that this interview probably came to soon for him but that he nevertheless felt that he could do it.

    Jose nailed it with what he said to him during the Spurs AON. But as somebody who’s been through something very similar well done to him for making it as far as he has, but I do think if he reached out for help a lot sooner he could have been helped more. He made it and let it go to his head man, always did look like an arrogant guy but yeah, mental fall from Grace man, I’d have taken him at Arsenal during his peak tbh.

What I find hypocritical is the same media that was tearing this guy down the last 5 years suddenly wants to act like they care about him? They in the business of manufacturing headlines and writing clickbait stories but now want to pretend they actually care because it’s the latest ‘thing’ to do meanwhile they had no problem tearing this guy down with negative stories. Add on top of that all the trauma he dealt with, I'm guessing his mind was constantly racing, therefore he used pills to kill the thoughts. I think it's a little harsh on him. Most of us can't imagine what it's like to live with the kinda trauma he went through.
    It sounds to me kinda like his mum might have been a prostitute. Multiple men in and out of the house, addiction. It's actually genuinely amazing he got as far as he has given the hand he was dealt.

    Lee, I was half expecting you to bollock him and blame the trauma on being at Tottenham. I watched the interview and I genuinely felt really sorry for him although that is not what he wanted. I have seen many players pissing their career down the toilet when they were generational talent like Greenwood, Ravel Morrison and even the late great George Best. As you rightly said when you move to a big club you then have to be a big man even if you have the IQ of a haddock, you have a pot of money and your choice of women and all the hangers on that will bring you down and stab you in the back. It is life unfortunately. I heard a quote the other day and I want to use it. A snake can shed it's skin but it is still a snake!!! When he was at Spurs under Poch he had a sympathetic ear and when Poch left he didn't have it any longer. He went to Everton and probably did not have anyone to confide in and Turkey was just the final nail. Nobody there could give a rat's arse about his issues and could not talk English to him anyway. Underneath as you say he had the ability but not the drive, probably because he thought he had made it, but then the wheels came off. I hope he can revive his career somewhat but he is 26/27 now so time is running out and I think he can do something at Everton or at a lower EPL team should he be moved on. He says he still has the hunger so lets give him a chance that others like Mason and Ravel might not get.

    Well at least he’s on the straight and narrow now out of rehab but sleeping pills addiction and sad about his childhood just thinking about it you Gotta look at other peoples childhood as well in the same similarities It always ends in tragically

    As I'm listening more lee, football clubs giving out sleeping tablets is strange. Aren't they tired after training and match days?

    • @squanchysquanch1840
      @squanchysquanch1840 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably after the matches yea they’d be pretty spent. I think it’s probably the pre-match nights where they are really needed. Have you ever tried to go to sleep when you are incredibly excited + anxious about some big event happening the next day? Sometimes you can’t stop thinking about it and thus can’t fall asleep.
