Hey, I just wanted to take a minute to let you know how amazing you are! I had ZERO skills in editing, which kept me from posting all of my video ideas, because they always looked like a Neanderthal did them. I have improved to the point I am no longer embarrassed by my videos. Do I still need to improve? Heck yes! But I no longer suck. Your tips are amazing, simple, and they have all worked for me. Sadly, I am not making money, yet, but when I do I will be happy to give you a $super sticker or two to three.❤
Omg! I been going crazy figuring it out and you demonstrated it perfectly on how to achieve it. I got it now and took notes. You are awesome and thank you so much for your tutorial.
Thank you, this is just what I needed. I just love your videos, they are simple, clear yet powerful. Thank you for not including all those gimmicks. Just the Facts, Ma'am!!
Wow! I have quite a need for something like this, but I hadn't pursued it because I didn't know how to 'clean up' the green screen. I'd seen the other recent video about pre-rendering and comprehend its very efficacious use case. Thank you so much! I will use this as a teaching/training method and model to emphasize important points. I'm grateful for your help.
Well done. This is great. I've done some pre-rendering before, not realizing it has a name. Your description and tutorial was very clear. I am going to add some of these elements to my workflow. Thanks!
This method reminds me of stories about making complex musical albums (e.g. the Beatles 'revolver' and 'sg pepper's') using only four-track equipment. They would record an overlay, then "mix it down" to one track to free up the other 3 tracks, then repeat over and over. Some of the songs had 20-30 "layers" of sound but all done on four-track tape.
Good way to get around that iMovie limitation. Something I'm finding very useful for this sort of thing is using Keynote to record the voiceover video. I use a green background and make my video whatever size and position on it I want and set Keynote to remove background on it. Then I record my voiceover both video and audio and export it as a movie. I'm now using Final Cut but this would work for iMovie as well.
@@johnvender you just blew my mind. i don't think i have ever even opened that Keynote application on my mac in like a decade of owning them... i was not making slideshows or presentations and just had no clue Keynote could do anything beyond that!
Thanks, Mike, I’m finding your videos very helpful. In this video you used an iMovie background screen. Is there a way for me to create and save my own backgrounds?
this is my issue... My green screen photo, it is a baby doll, it will flying be over the city, the doll photo is too big, it takes up the whole screen. How can I make the photo smaller? I used PREVIEW to make the photo smaller but it did not change the size when I used it again in iMovie. Thanks...hope I explained that right.
Hi I love your video but can you help me? I have a video of myself with NO green screen and want to add a green screen cartoon character. When I do it it so big. I want it smaller and by my head. Please help 😊
Michael, I appreciate this video. Can you rewind back to how you got that talking head and a green background? I don't have a green screen to use nor do I want my messy background showing in videos. Thanks in advance.
My green screen video won't go above the background. The background only goes above or next to the green screen video. Does anyone know how to make this work?
I have been an enthusiastic and satisfied iMovie user for many years. With my Panasonic HC-X 920 camcorder I can make travel reports that fully meet my expectations. (TH-cam: jandewitamateur film). That camera is now more than ten years old, so it's time for something new. I thought anyway. Last week I bought the Panasonic HC-X 1500, a camera that completely met my needs. To my amazement, iMovie didn't support that camera, and my amazement was compounded when I couldn't find any more recent (!!) in the list of camcorders supported by iMovie. I have returned my HC-X 1500 and now I don't know what to do next. In the better camcorders, iMovie only supports the five-year-old (but still available) Sony FDR-AX700 4K. Thank you Apple for letting your users down like this.
This channel is the first place I go every time I have an iMovie question. Thank you
What a great voice for an educator. Loved the video, thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it

Omg. I remember you from "inquiring minds". I loved that show! How are you and your other cast members doing?
I have not ever been interested in green screens but that was very impressive. At least I know what's possible.
Your amazing!! I always struggled with green scene in imove. Thanks for the tip
Thank you this is very useful!

Very happy to share anything I learn. I'm totally blown away with the capabilities of Keynote in the process of making videos.

Thank you Michael, my dad used your awesome video for a Spotify vertical video.
Thank you, u have solve my problem.
Thanks, Mike, I’m finding your videos very helpful. In this video you used an iMovie background screen. Is there a way for me to create and save my own backgrounds?
You can create your own backgrounds in any image editing software and drag and drop them into iMovie as a .png or .jpg.
@@MacVideoMagic That’s sounds easy. Thanks, I expected something more convoluted. Appreciate your quick response.

I recorded myself in front of a green screen.
Can you do this on a iPhone or ipad?
My green screen video won't go above the background. The background only goes above or next to the green screen video. Does anyone know how to make this work?
Is your green screen video in picture-in-picture or split screen mode?
