Fantastic your video. One of the first to talk about this new detector, explaining everything very clearly and with a great video editing. Please make other videos about this detector. Thanks for the work.
Thanks for your comment Andy - if you go to the Garrett Australia website, it lists all the Australia dealers and the ATX packages available. HH mate! Warren.
An incredibly informative infomercial you put together Warren. Looks like an easy set up and will transport securely on the airlines with just as much ease. Can't wait to see all the goodies you and Colleen find with that bad boy! LOL I'm also glad to see Garrett sponsoring you, you have stayed loyal to their brand all along. GL and HH my friend! Doug
Thanks for the vid Warren, I always enjoy watching them. I have my ATX on order with my local dealer and am patiently waiting. Great to see you have had some time to assess the machine and I look forward to more videos. Bevan.
Great overview of the detector Warren and look forward in anticipation to hearing your reports on it out in the fields. Best of luck and hope those nuggets flow freely....Cheers Wal.
Good video Warren-thanks for posting-very concise and easy to understand. Looks like a great machine which is simple, tough and really easy to use. I look forward to see how you go with it and your next video! Best of luck with the detecting!
Thanks Ferret - the ATX is an awesome machine for gold prospecting or relic hunting in mineralized soils - well suited to the Australian landscape! HH in Somerset! Warren.
Thanks for watching Malcolm - yes it is the same waterproof connector as on the AT Gold and AT Pro. Not displayed in the video is the facility to completely remove the arm cuff for better access to the coil cable connector. All the best and HH! Warren.
Thanks for watching - the Garrett ATX was field tested alongside the Minelab GPX5000 in the WA Goldfields. The ATX with the stock DD coil will exceed the GPX5000 on low conductivity targets (i.e. small gold) and match or exceed it on deeper targets - with similar coil setups. More ATX videos coming soon. HH mate! Warren.
Warren it looks a fantastic machine - cant wait to hear further reports about it. Like the 20 inch coil option that would be brilliant on the beach. Fairly itching to have a swing with one myself! Ian
Thanks for your reply Warren. I was pretty wrapped to hear that they showed my gold at the Garrett conference ! I'm almost famous ! Looking forward to seeing some more videos on the ATX. HH Luke
Thanks for watching John - the ATX is a Pulse Induction machine designed for the goldfields - as with all Pulse machines, there is no target ID or depth indication so an LCD screen would be of no use. Pulse Induction machines are all raw power and pretty much 'dig everything' - that is how they are designed. The Etrac is VLF detector which is designed for a completely different purpose. HH mate! Warren.
Warren - with all this talent - should should try out for X-Factor or Australia's Got Talent. If they had a category for "Metal Detector Setup Video" - this would have to be in the grand final for sure. I don't own one of these yet...but after gluing myself to this video - I am more than confidant I could set it up and be getting swing time ...in no time. Thanks for putting this up and for making it easy to follow. Cheers GL & HH Ian.
The Garrett AML1000 Recon Pro is not the same detector as the ATX - but they do share the same casing so the ATX is very rugged, mil spec in all respects. And it looks great too! All the best and HH! Warren.
hi warren.my new atx arrived yesterday..just familiarising with the machine so your tutorials are excellent,,my thoughts on the atx "what a beast",all the best mate and merry christmas
Nice looking piece of kit Warren, l like having the whole kit in a solid case. Looks very similar to the Minelab F3 mine detecter though. I look forward to seeing how you go with it on your next trip. GL and HH Mark
Thanks for watching Willo - can't wait to get it out to the goldfields too - where the 20" mono will cover plenty of ground on the open flats. HH mate! Warren.
Thanks for your great comment Doug - we will be heading out on a hunt this weekend in some really hot nasty ground where the ATX will come into its own! Should have another ATX video up in a week or so - all the best mate and HH! Warren.
Warren, Looks like a nice toy to play with mate, I gather there are skid plates available for the coils. Looking forward to future videos on its performance.
Thanks for your comment, always appreciated! And you can never have too many toys LOL. The ATX will be ideal for your area if the old battlefields are in highly mineralized soils where VLF machines may suffer degraded performance. And the iron check is a really great feature - especially in that scenario. All the best and HH! Warren.
Thanks for commenting Mark - the ATX uses the same housing as the AML1000 Recon Pro, but is not the same unit. We will have some more videos up soon! HH mate! Warren.
Thanks for watching and commenting - great your are coming to Australia - which is an enormous country with countless places to metal detect for gold, coins or relics. Depending on where you travel, your best bet is to visit the local detector shop for advice on areas where you can hunt. All the best and HH! Warren.
Thanks for watching and for your great comment. The ATX is far advanced from the Infinium - in all aspects. I'm sure the it would be a great companion to your AT Gold which you are having great success with there. All the best mate and Happy Prospecting! Warren.
The standard package comes the the stock DD coil - the 20" mono and 8" mono are optional. The Deepseeker package includes the 20" mono and a military hard case. Warren.
Thanks for watching and commenting Wal - we hope to in the goldfields in the coming weeks with more ATX videos - Happy Prospecting to you and Liz! Warren.
Thanks for watching Russell - yes the ATX will get good depth on all targets - as you suggest specifics depend on target size and conductivity - but particularly so in highly mineralized soils such as on the goldfields - and salt water beaches too. HH mate! Warren.
What an awesome machine. Great video Warren. Your videos are always easy to watch and understand. I can't wait to get one. I have found just under an ounce in 10 months of owning an AT Gold and I love my machine but I can see that the ATX would be a huge upgrade. How does it compare to the Infinium? I know you have used an Infinium quite a bit. Is it a big improvement from the Infinium?
Thanks for watching and commenting - coil covers for the ATX coils are on the way - and will definitely required for detecting in the Aussie bush! HH mate! Warren.
Thanks for your great comment - we hoped that this basic run-through would be helpful for people seeking info on the ATX. We will have some field videos up soon. All the best and HH! Warren.
I sure would like to have one, but it's said by a certain individual "You have too many toys." There are some excellent opportunities around here, as we live right in the middle of a lot of early American colonial activity including a battlefield. (Battle of Great Bridge) I always enjoy your videos.
just checked the garret website and clicked on their countermine tab and surprise surprise....their new countermine option looks the same as the atx. definatley mil spec stuff
Hello! Thank you for your video. I have one question. Is it possible to detect only gold with this machine and what is the best setup for gold hunt. Thank you in advance!
Thanks for watching and commenting - if you are hoping to detect fine gold chain - which as you would know is notoriously difficult due to its low conductivity - you would be best served with the optional 8" monoloop coil rather than the DD. The ATX operates very smoothly in both salt and ironstone conditions so that smooth stable threshold maximises your chances of detecting fine targets such as gold chain. HH mate! Warren.
Thanks for your comment Ian and vote of confidence - I'm sure if there had been a 'Metal Detector Set Up Video' in the finals, there would be no One Direction LOL. Not sure if it would stretch to a 3 hour concert LOL. HH mate! Warren.
Thanks , i am waiting for more vids on this. I have already talked to the dealer in our country about this detector,,,, was wondering how much it would cost in AUS as i am going there maybe i might as well buy one there..... so whats the price?
yes, i'm in australia, just arrived yesterday. i can not wai to go on the beach or find a old gold mine... how many chance i have to find a gold with my garrett t 250?. any suggestion ? any place? thanks
Just bought the atx. I am new to fosicking. When I go to the gold fields just west of Warrick. Do I just serch anywhere or do I need to look a particular land feature. For example should I only serch low land next to non running creaks and the creaks themselves. Or is up hi on the hill tops just as good. Should I look for their to ber rocky ground or is strait dirt ok. This will be a gread help. I did find some very thin flakes of rust about a foot deep and a peice of shot gun shot. So I think I got it all set up ok.. thanks for putting up the great videos. Also I dont understand the non motion mode
G'day mate - congratulation on the new ATX! If you are fossicking for gold in you area, a good place to start is the old workings - have a look where the 'old timers' were getting gold, check the old mullock heaps and the gullies draining the old workings. Look for 'shallow' ground where the bedrock isn't far under the surface, this will vary with local geography. You can even pan the creeks for 'colour' to make sure you are on the right track. Non-Motion mode will give you more depth but you will need to 'Retune' regularly (depending on local mineralization). Best to do a lot of hours in Motion mode first. Make sure you are properly ground balanced, start with the Ground Track off if the ground is quiet, and run the sensitivity as high as practical (10 or 11). Best of luck and Happy Prospecting! Warren.
All looks good, But! the connector on the "AT pro" is a real bastard to do up. If this model is the same then Garrett still have some work to do to make it friendly.
Patrick Skahill Thanks for your comment Patrick, for the frequency scan there is no need to have the coil flat to the ground. It’s actually scanning for EMI, so the more it ‘hears’, the better, for quiet operation. Cheers mate. Warren.

Will the ATX auto ground balance as you move along after setting initial first ground balance starting new patch. Cheers thanks Warren
Patrick Skahill Ground balance won’t change automatically, I believe you are referring to ‘tracking’ which can be set to slow, medium or fast on ATX. I tend not to use it and just ground balance again if the threshold becomes noisy. ATX is very good in the Golden Triangle. Good luck!
Warren, Just a question of the Iron discrimination function, will this machine tell you the targets such as rusty old nails, and scrap steel and iron bolts. Does Iron function work on brass objects? Thanks Dave
David Decatur Thanks for your query David. The iron discrimination function will only identify ferrous targets. All looks good.. However the reports of this machine handling the WA conditions for finding gold in hot areas on hot ground are only hearsay. NOT ONE review I have read yet is first hand from some that actually owns one in WA and used it in WA goldfields. Only comments of "this machine has been tested in WA against a gpx5000 on undisturbed hot ground". are not good enough for me at this stage. I like all the positive benefits this machine says it offers and the price, but until an independent owner of an ATX actually in WA, not connected to a seller can show it actually does what it is designed for the Gpx5000 is still top dog by a country mile.
Thanks for watching Dean and for your thoughts. I can tell you that the ATX works brilliantly in WA. I personally used it on The Island at Lake Austin. Thats about as tough as it gets in WA. I was able to get stable operation - and find targets (only lead & old timers rubbish unfortunately) on the ironstone 'beach' and also on the salt lake itself by tweaking tracking and sensitivity. The machine is unaffected by atmospherics and high ambient temperatures, unlike other PI machines. Drop in and see Jamie at the Prospector's Patch and have a swing for yourself. Happy Prospecting mate! Warren.

Hi when you bay the garrett atx caming 3 searchcoil together or you bay separate
Thanks , i am waiting for more vids on this. I have already talked to the dealer in our country about this detector,,,, was wondering how much it would cost in AUS as i am going there maybe i might as well buy one there..... so whats the price?

awesome thanks
Yes .that's funn.. I 'll come in australia fir 3 months and I'll take with me my garret 250 . There is any place that I can go ?
Very educative video. Can the ATX detect gold chain?
Hi like your vids, what sought of depth are you getting hits on targets?i know there are a lot of variants but just after a ball park guess, cheers.
Just bought the atx. I am new to fosicking. When I go to the gold fields just west of Warrick. Do I just serch anywhere or do I need to look a particular land feature. Ok thanks. I bought a panning kit as well and ive now watched a few videos on how to pan so im gonna try that next time im out their..
All looks good, But! the connector on the "AT pro" is a real bastard to do up. If this model is the same then Garrett still have some work to do to make it friendly.
E-trac is actually BBS or FBS technology........multiple frequencies not one frequency like a VLF. Cheers!
Love your vids there awesome.
Hi Warren great vid you won me with Garret over minelab 7k.
Q when setting frequency should the coil be flat on ground?
Thanks Pat
Patrick Skahill Thanks for your comment Patrick, for the frequency scan there is no need to have the coil flat to the ground. It’s actually scanning for EMI, so the more it ‘hears’, the better, for quiet operation. Cheers mate. Warren.
NQExplorers are yes electrical transmitting interference got it . Think i indulge in to many of your great video's and didn't give myself much time to process all info.
Been looking at dectectors on an off for few year and thought minelab was the go and didn't look at the ATX much thinking it was more relic hunter . But has won and shock me on it's smove and brilliant performance cos I'm only interested in golden triangle.
And didn't want a rocket scientist detector.
Good luck!
Can I use normal aa durcell batteries on the atx
No problems at all Alfie, you may find the ATX runs better with 8 x AA Duracell alkalines at 1.5v each (i.e. full 12 volts). Cheers mate. Warren.
Okay thanks for the information and also can I use the 1.5v rechargeable durcell batteries?
Warren,
Just a question of the Iron discrimination function, will this machine tell you the targets such as rusty old nails, and scrap steel and iron bolts. Does Iron function work on brass objects? Thanks Dave
David Decatur Thanks for your query David. The iron discrimination function will only identify ferrous targets. Generally, brass and targets of high conductivity will give a low-hi (although this depends on size and other factors), gold and lead will give a hi-low (once again depends on size and conductivity). Very large ferrous items will probably not iron check due to their sheer size and the way they present to PI detectors (this would include large steel items and bolts etc). Smaller iron, such as old timers rubbish, will give you the iron 'grunt' when checked. This is a very conservative feature as you really need to investigate all targets when prospecting. Don't forget the Iron Check only works with the DD coil. As with all PI detectors, the ATX can't really 'discriminate' as such - nothing like a VLF can, although with time you will learn that there are subtle differences in target responses with the ATX. Hope this helps mate. Happy Fossicking! Warren.
NQExplorers Thanks Warren you been very helpful.Dave
amazing.looks the business.very neat gl hh
How to change the coil
I wanted to know the cost of this machine??
Also is there a dealship near Brisbane i am at dalby
You make a goo pitchman Warren. GL and HH Hugh
I though Garrett wanted to be a cheaper alternative to Minelab,,, but its almost the same price,,, if lucky you can get a GPX 5000 used for the same price.
👌อยากได้เครื่องวัด ทองคำมาใช้ที่แม่น้ำวัง ที่บ้านบ้าง
Fisher did the same, didn't know Garrett had done it too. :(. They will lose sales
👏👍🥰👀
WHAT ???? With deepseeker pack its $3999 AUD thats a ridiculous price mate.As you get same stuff in the usa for $2499 usd,,
