Hey Aspen, To fix your lighting issue you could get a blue daylight gel that you can tape over your light temporarily. These are super cheap and will make your inside orange light (tungsten) to the blue daylight colour. You can also take the gels on and off which makes for a super portable and affordable fix! They are available at most camera stores :)

I would try soft lighting that can illuminate the room like it kind of does now (maybe soft box). I am by no means an expert but I know it is always good if you can to fix something in production so in post you don't have to correct it.
