    Glad to see this video, Pharos Sirius is one of my favorite dungeons. There is just something I miss about having an optional dungeon with such an interesting story behind it.

    So this is kinda Fantasy Chernobyl, minus the incompetence?

      More like Fukushima. Designed properly and safely, but an unpredictable and unprecedented disaster caused a failure.

    Always loved the vibe of Pharos Sirius, it's cool to know that's what all the machinery is for! Thanks for the video Scribe!

    I had NO idea that lighthouse had a name, story or even a dungeon behind it! It's one of my favorite landmarks.... I gotta go unlock that now. Very good video!

    Love the music here. But now I know even more and I really will enjoy it more. I appreciate this.

    Who knew the biggest hurdle to defeating this darn tower wasn't the giant siren at the top, but an angry momma birb boy and all the crystal spam before them.

    • @maxspecs

      The biggest hurdle is legit the first hallway.

    super interesting stuff! i wish we got more extended dungeon stories in the form of normal and "hard" modes. Always cool to revisit the same-ish layouts with changes and new bosses!

    Aleport, my beloved home. I refused to do the MSQ for the longest time, only kept grinding Dodo's and claiming the title of Master of Dodo's.
    It's where I met two friends who shouted " _NICE ASS ELF_ ". La Noscea, the most beautiful place in all of Eorzea ~
    4:20 - Western What? This is the second video I watch where I hear someone pronounce something so wrong it grates me immediately.
    It's not Western Lanoshea - It's LA-NOS-CEA.

      Hate to break it to you, but the way he pronounces it is correct.

      I always enjoy learning more about Limsa Lominsa and its surroundings and history, it being the home of my main character. I even got an apartment there, since housing is beyond my financial reach yet.
      I have fond memories of Aleport and the other settlements around Limsa. It reminds me of when I was a brand new Arcanist gradually exploring further as I levelled up. I never knew about the lighthouse though I saw it from a distance.

    So the crystals were what rose the dead? Sailors told me that's the siren's doing. Once she lured you to drown with her song, she'd make you ashkin to serve her forever.

    • @AusFirewing
      @AusFirewing ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's what I thought. The first boss, Symond, is evidence of this because he calls out to Diadamana, his daughter, upon his death and Diamanda mentions that Mimidoa was his mentor.
      It's also mentioned by Davyd at the gate that the siren has set her thralls to guard the front gate, and that's why you're sent in through the basement.

    • @mikoto7693
      @mikoto7693 ปีที่แล้ว

      I thought the same.

    I like Pharos Sirius for the music. It has such a nice music when you first hop into it. It actually feels very disjointed in terms of what the music feels like and what the dungeon itself feels. Playing as a white mage, I always found this dungeon to be very agressive.

    I had no idea that lighthouse had a name like that or that it was a dungeon, let alone one with such a cool backstory. I’ve seen it as a landmark and correctly saw it as a result of the Calamity but never given it much thought. I’ll have to go unlock it.

    I've been running Pharos Sirius (Hard) trying to get the Progenitrix card *shakes fist angrily* and each time I fight it I'm always left wondering if someone will do any lore about Ghrah Luminary and its minions being Ea. I know the dungeon was released well before the Ea were ever even an idea but the fact the Luminary are used as the corrupted physical form of the Ea should definitely point to the two being connected.

    • @SynodicScribe
      @SynodicScribe  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Honestly. It's simply the FFXIV team reusing assets again. The Ghrah are just a vampiric type of Elemental, no connection to the Ea at all. Heck, most of Ultima Thule isn't 'real' in the same sense that the Source is, so we can't compare the two.

    • @katarh
      @katarh ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SynodicScribe They are also taken directly from FFXI. The Grah were enemies in the palace at the heart of the zone we called {sea} in that game (because nobody could spell Al'Taieu without tabbing, and it was easier to just type se-tab and get "sea" in auto translate.) Many of these monsters have since been recycled into FFXIV with no explanation, primarily in places like Eureka (Ovni, Absolute Virtue, etc) but also now scattered among Ultima Thule.

    • @mikoto7693
      @mikoto7693 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@katarhThank you for reminding me, fellow Vana’dielian. I always enjoy seeing remnants from FF11 in FF14. They usually remind me of adventures I once had on another world. Getting one of the items needed to unlock sub jobs when I see Damselflies for example.
      I sometimes wish FF14 would reuse more hints of FF11, notably in the artifact armour. I’d love to have gear sets that look very similar to it. Okay you can see hints in Whm and Pld for example but I wish for more.

    I remember they had to nerf this dungeon because people could not do the mechanics of the first boss correctly. After a few tries people would quit or it became like Austrm Vale. As soon as you queued in, people left immediately. Good times...... good times....

    We need more dungeons like this. Pharos Sirius made a great backdrop for an rp session I ran a month or two back. Bit hard to do them beyond HW as all the dungeons are tied to the MSQ and don't work as backdrops for RP
