    I love the second time you go there. I remembered going "Wait...I think I remember these characters...Oh...Oh no." and being pleasantly mortified by how things would play out. Absolutely stellar quest and a fantastic second visit to an old dungeon.

    Moral of Edda's story: be kind and commend your healers. Even after a wipe or two. Jokes aside, this was a very sobering tale and a great deep dive into the lore of this sacred burial ground. You should do Haukke Manor next since it's located just north of the deepcroft. But whatever is next, I'll be looking forward to it :)

    Gosh, since I’ve never done the hard version or the POTD I had absolutely no idea what had happened to Edda. I remember her from the main quest, shattered by the loss of a fellow adventurer and the rest of the party blaming her.
    I remember her mostly because while my main character is a Hyur female midlander Arcanist at the time, I went on to eventually develop into Smn for solo content and Sch for group content. I discovered that I have an instinctive love for being the healer and promptly went back and unlocked conjurer into white mage with all three jobs now being lvl 65 about to start Stormblood.
    But I also created a second character because I’m a role player and I have a distinct habit of creating multiple characters. Specifically this one is a Wildwood Elezen female Dragoon currently lvl 50 a couple quests before Praetorium. And one day far into the future when SE finally releases playable female Hrothgar I’ll create a third. Don’t get me wrong I love cats but everyone and their donkey plays a Miqo’te female and I refuse. Hrothgar will never be popular-that’s why they made male Viera first.
    But yeah it was during my run through the main quest as my Elezen that I really noticed Edda and her story. I certainly was sympathetic to her failure because yes, sometimes the tank will just run obliviously out of heal spell range just as I’m casting and I then have to chase him, hit the quick cast button and throw a much bigger and mp-costing spell than I wanted, if I was able to catch up in time at all. Or tanks that recklessly run around corners breaking lines of sight so I can’t cast. Bleak Stone Vigil-the one around lvl 40 where you find CID’s airship is notorious for that.
    So believe me I totally understand Edda’s situation but she seems to not understand that the tank absolutely bore at least 50% blame for that! Also her party shouldn’t have given her much shit about it since at most she was only half to blame. I mean so far I’ve gotten to the start of Stormblood and the above situations have happened a few times, two tanks went totally balls to the wall and pulled so many mobs at once it was literally beyond the job’s abilities at that level to keep them alive. And during the Keeper of the Lake boss fight I didn’t understand the boss mechanics and caused two wipes…
    And nobody has ever treated me as bad as those two who badmouthed Edda. During the Keeper of the Lake boss fight my party simply told me what was happening and how to handle it. I apologised and they were cool with it. Third time we win and clear the Duty. Quite why I got 3 commendations for that I’ll never know. The other times usually after the death/wipe the tank does slow down a bit while I focus on following him more closely. I’ve even had one apologise to which I’m also cool with and just politely request if he could ease up a bit on the large pulls.
    Each time once the tank and I adjust we always zoom through the Duty and clear it. So yeah Edda’s tank should have slowed down and her party should have been nicer. And honestly she shouldn’t have taken that crap and spoke up.
    It’s a shame there wasn’t the side quest available, especially for healer WoLs to take her under their wing and ease her onto a better path. Still I’ll have to look up how to do the quests involving her.

      Wow I didn’t know that at all! Honestly the whole All Saints questline totally threw me for a loop. I’m still fairly new to FF14 and mostly because the events always take place in Gridania I missed the events until the recent Starlight Celebration event and it set a certain expectation that future events would be similarly lighthearted and casual.
      As such I was confused by the All Saints event. First by the timing but an FC friend told me it was delayed due to Covid and work on Endwalker.
      And secondly I really didn’t believe the clown was a genuine threat to the people of Gridania and since I’d never done a Duty like that before.
      It was a time of much confusion but I did enjoy it. Thankfully Valentiones Day was as lighthearted as I’d expected.

    Y'know you mention how dalamud was referred to as "menphina's loyal hound" and it gets me to thinking bout how the twelve must have been a relatively recent creation.... I wonder if we'll get any answers in the alliance raids

    • @SynodicScribe
      @SynodicScribe 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      actually there's reference to the Six and Six deities all the way back in the Third Astral Era. So even at their youngest the origins of the Twelve date at least 5,000 years ago.

    Poor Edda, there is a rare chance at 3 specific locations (north Limsa Aetheryte Plaza by a inaccessible lamp/behind the CRP guild by the lamp there, and in the markets of Uldah by a lamp) that once you've done TamTara (Hard), at a certain time at night; Edda's ghost appears. It crazily rare, look it up if you don't believe it.

    So which came first, the Dalamud “moon” or Menphina’s familiar Dalamud? Now that we’ve gotten to see (and fight) Menphina and Dalamud, it begs the question of whether he existed all along or not

    • @SynodicScribe
      @SynodicScribe ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Dalamud the Artificial moon came first. After that, believe in 'Menphina's Hound' became so fervent that he came into existence as an extension of her own person and power.

    Unfortunately, I don't believe people will be done taking advantage of Tam-Tara's dark energies any time soon. Why, just recently, a family of... Voidsent? I think they were voidsent. A family of voidsent took advantage of the place in a fell ritual. I worry the place will be used many more times, and that the stain upon the aether in Tam-Tara will never truly go away.

    I would love if they made a third version of the dungeon, one where we accompany a hearer or somesuch and aid him in a cleansing ritual. Could be an idea for those new type of dungeons... You'd have to go there numerous times, because the corruption isnt dealt with in a day, but after so and so many runs the dungeon changes and the aether recovers. I dont know, something of the sort :)

      Aside from being an interesting reason to canonically rerun dungeons, it would be interesting seeing dungeons in a more controlled state. Maybe seeing early parts of it being used by average people like they once were, but finding wayward monsters and voidsent further inside. Reminds me of how Halatali (Hard) is just the dungeon being used for its original purpose once again.
      As an aside, it's funny how the Deepcroft is technically used in the Halloween event
