This man you on your screen is no ordinary person. He is PadmaShree Jadav Payeng - the Forest Man of India from Majuli -the world’s largest river island.
Over the last 40 years, he single-handedly planted hundreds of trees on a sandbar of river Brahmaputra, transforming a barren wasteland in Assam’s Johrat district into a lush green forest reserve, that has come alive with the return of many wild animals, birds and bees
His efforts and achievements have been recognized world over, but Jadav Payeng remains humble and dedicated to his cause of giving back Mother Nature its lungs and wild animals their home, that is brutally snatched away from them, by increasing deforestation and human greed.
Today, he is being felicitated here in Dubai to commemorate the international earth day and I was lucky to get him on ronversations

For the past 40yrs he has been planting trees but it came to light when a researcher came to Majuli and was surprised to see the forest which was once a barren land. Yes, poaching has stopped in Assam and CM of Assam has burnt around 2500 rhino horns on World Rhino Day thereby giving a strong msg to the poachers.

Padmashree Jadav Payang didn't just plant trees , He has created a Forest in over 1300acre land. Planting tree is easy, we all do on EarthDay, Environment Day etc but taking care of each sapling is not easy that too when numbers are in Millions. Countries like Maxico etc have invited him for special afforestation drive and to understand the whole formula of creating man made forest only by growing native trees. Hope I am able to throw some light . Cheers!
