EVlectric, in your Emergency Lane Departure Avoidance test, ELDA worked exactly the way it should: It did nothing. Per Model 3 owner's manual: "Emergency Lane Departure Avoidance attempts to prevent a potential collision with a vehicle in an adjacent lane by steering Model 3 back into your driving lane when traveling between 40 and 90 mph (64 and 145 km/h)." You said in the video, just before doing the test, you checked the mirror (to make sure there were no cars int the adjacent lane), then you let the car drift into the adjacent lane. To the car, it was not an emergency since there was no car in the adjacent lane. To the car, you were making a lane change. What you actually tested was false positive scenario. ELDA did nothing as expected since there was no car in the adjacent lane. If there was a car in the adjacent lane and you let the car drift into the adjacent lane, then the ELDA would have done an avoidance maneuver at certain point to prevent a potential collision.
There is a use for the Chill mode, and it's when you're driving in high traffic at low speeds, like during rush hours. It's very easy to press the pedal a little to hard, esp. when you have a P model, and it will jump you into the car in front of you (I know, it has happened to me, luckily I was able to break before impact).
I’ve had the SR+ and basic autopilot for 5 months now and keep getting confused after updates. The car will now accelerate way over the ‘identified’ limit on TACC after update 28.6 It will dangerously brake suddenly for nonexistent town speed limits when out in the country . Being country based these are consistent problems to keep in mind.
how do i make sure my tesla is locked and off? it says it turns off when i walk away and turns on as i approach. this is all so new to me! my tesla also isn’t locking or closing the windows automatically when i walk away (car turns off?)
Very good video. Thanks! PS. Is autopilot really confusing? The basic AP is just adaptive cruise control with lane keeping assist like on most cars in this price range.
The distance is based on the EPA range and how much battery is left. It doesn't take anything else into account. For an accurate distance, you use the other app with the graph.
Neutral is great going thru a brushless car wash. I listen to pre-recorded albums, (the entire album) not mix tapes from a USB drive. Sometimes the music skips around. I don't want that. Please help. Can you explain the two arrows that look like a oval and the other is like to C's back to back. Thanks for all the info.
I still strongly disagree with Miles VS Percentage. If I have 20km left to get home and I see 35km on my battery, I'll definitely just continue on home. But if instead I see 7% left, I'd definitely get paranoid and charge somewhere potentially expensive, because I don't know how far 7% will actually get me. Yes, over time you might get a feel for how much 1% is, but until then it'll just be super confusing. So I'd rather just have the car do the calculations for me.
I agree. I think it comes more to feeling and knowing about how many miles = x%. Once you get used to it it’s pretty easy but I definitely understand that it’s more confusing at first
Thank you for the informative video. With regards to emergency lane departure avoidance, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning and object avoidance acceleration, does autopilot need to be on in order for these safety function to operate, or will they work with autopilot off?
You guys who do these tutorials all seem to assume that everybody has, or is getting FSD. Many of the features that you point out are not available to those of us who chose not to pay the extra. e.g. Search Autopilot settings all you want; you will not be able to specify the car-lengths between you and the car in front without FSD. (And yet Autopilot will slow the car to match a slower car that you are following.)
@@TeslaPhotographer please forgive my irritation; but you have now firmed up a suspicion of mine. My Model 3 LR 2021, delivered just before Christmas, does not have this option on the Autopilot page, certainly not as demonstrated in your vid. I now suspect that the feature has been removed on Australian deliveries, due to local regulation(?) Otherwise, it has been moved to somewhere else in the settings. And yet the car will slow; I just have no control over how far back it settles behind a slower vehicle. There are other inconsistencies too, presumably for the same reason.
The following distance should be by seconds and not by car lengths. I would set it at two seconds, which should work well regardless of driving speed. Unfortunately I don’t think that setting is an option.
great video, almost fell outta my chair when he said SAND PEOPLE.
Your channel got recommended to me and I instantly subscribed! I'm ordering a Tesla this week and your videos have been helpful!
Thanks so much :)

thanks! for the auto headlight tip. First place I've seen this...not sure its spelled out in the manual.
Good video and thanks. You made it less intimidating for older people
Hey Taylor, love the video and it helped me out in my process to purchase a Tesla.
Glad you enjoy my videos! Thanks 😊
Very informative video, Taylor. Thanks for clearing up some of the confusing settings.
Your channel got reccomended me at 214 views. I also subscribed because your an ev channel. :)
Also it looks like you have great content.
Thank you :) 👊🏻❤️

Yes I’ve noticed the phantom braking it’s crazy bad when it happens

I reallly reallly want a tesla.

I'm picking up my 2020 Model 3 AWD on Monday. I held off on FSD for now.... so what exactly do I have then? Auto Pilot?

5:18 well you can already see the percentage by the batt icon so you dont need it twice with the number
Good info I pick mine up tomorrow
So it's been a month... how do you like your Tesla? I'm picking mine up on Monday (19th)
We are now looking at Tesla at work.
My conclusion is buy it new and ditch before the warranty runs out .
Hi Taylor,
You can't turn off the car alarm. It's greyed out.
neutral is handy when you go through the carwash
Imagine thinking people want to watch you sit in the driveway for 20 minutes explaining a self-explanatory display
Great job thank you very much

Why can't we just have both at the same time on that huge display ?
It seems so stupid you have to switch betwenn % and miles !
I find it to be all pretty self-explanatory and easy to use and I am a boomer👨🦳👨🦳👨🦳
😂

Cruise Follow Distance is in seconds. So 5 is 5 seconds until ego car gets to the position of the car in front.

Thank you and I do the same as well
Is it better for the battery in the long run if i use standard reg braking rather than low???i just got my tesla 3 thanks
Both are fine. I think tesla would not have that feature if it did harm to the battery
Tesla Photographer thanks bro I’ll definitely subscribe for more future videos
You had me at metaphor.
Question regarding the use phone as a key, does the other person have to be logged into my Tesla acct or can they have their own?
They can have their own on Tesla’s website you make an account for them for your car or you can have them log into yours
A car length is closer to 20 feet, so what you are experiencing is correct.
Lane departure assist is shown as off in your video. Perhaps that’s why it doesn’t assist when you test it. Give Auto a try.
Great video - does the tesla have rear cross traffic alert with braking?
It will do maneuvers on autopilot for a rear collision but not off of AP
@@TeslaPhotographer Thank you!
Taylor do the settings all save with a users profile?
Yes!
Yay, 2 minutes of rambling before getting to the information.
You are super funny!
I am always late for cruise ship and like waving...
Every one of these settings are extremely confusing from anyone coming from legacy auto lmao
How is it going, Alex?
Taylor, wicked informative- thank you
Hair on my hand? Hahahhahahahhaha
currently on the evlectric cruise ship lmao
😂👍🏻👍🏻
This looks like something you’d see on Interdimensional Cable on Rick and Morty
Average car is 15’ in length.
Bye Sabrina!!!!
