Thanks for the great video, but please drop skillshare as a sponsor. They have unsavory practices when it comes to people's credit cards. Source: My own experience, Reddit. After the trial if over, you wont get charged, but it you actually forget to cancel you will get charged in the next billing cycle - meaning next year. They charged me for a couple of months without me noticing, They didnt refund despite the fact I didnt use the account. There is a reason most youtubers dropped skillshare as a sponsor. Please AnimalWonders consider this.

I want to create a dnd world where beavers were domesticated like dogs and there is a variety of beavers for different tasks and companionship, ones that are trained in logging obviously, and big ones that pull carts on land and in water, and ones that are trained in carpentry, and little ones that kids take out to the local swimming hole for play time ect. I think it would be so fun and cute

Thanks for being so sweet to Huckleberry and introducing him to the world!
I live in Newton Massachusetts and I see plenty of beavers on our Charles River. I've heard Native Americans from this area known as the Mattaskeeset who used to call the Charles river Quinobequin, meaning "meandering".
As for beavers, no need to make dams on this river anymore though, we people have made more than enough! But clearly we do try and there are two beautiful beaver huts on the river within approximately five miles from each other near my house! A great surprising joy for me is to paddle near their lodge. If they encounter you they most often slap their tails on the water as a warning and it sounds like a cannonball! I absolutely love them.
    Love your channel.

Beavers don't always build dams. There are at least two lodges in the lake where my parents have their home. Since the deep water is already there, and since there is no running water, their instinct to build a dam never surfaces.
It's pretty common to see them swim around when we are boating around in the evening. A few years ago, I liked to canoe around the lake in the evening and after dark. The water was glassy smooth and everything was silent.
    Until it wasn't.
Apparently, the beavers weren't happy about my invasion of their territory. They let me know by loudly slapping the water.
    Loudly.
Fortunately, I didn't jump out of my seat in into the lake.
During the winter, they keep the water around their lodge ice free, presumably by pushing the warmer water up to the surface.
In the spring, we found hundreds of chewed sticks about the lake. Also, they are fond of eating the vegetation once it starts to grow in the spring. We've found a number of water lily roots that they dug up and floated to the surface.

Other species intelligence is highly underrated. I didn't know that beavers built dams to make wetlands to have particular foods available to them. That reminds me of ants that farm aphids and fungus. Termites build their huge mounds, and birds with their different types of nests. Or how even though we say that we domesticated certain animals, we take care of them by keeping them safe and well fed, so it feels a bit like they domesticated us a bit too.

Oh no, did you miss the amazing aerial shots of the dam? We worked with Parks Canada and were thrilled to be given permission to feature never before seen images of the dam taken by Rob Belanger! Since the dam is nearly impossible to get to on human foot, photos taken from above are really the only option. It's really eye opening to see the incredible effort put in by all the beaver families to create safe homes for their young.

The dam here isn't build to hold a creek displacement, but to collect rain and snowmelt runoff from the mountain. So it a bit hard to pinpoint.
At 3:57 you see the stark difference of vegetation covers, that's the dam's reservoir. The bow-shaped water line shows the extent of the dam.
