I suspect indeed it is either a "biproduct" that happens so infrequently in wild populations that its not "worth" selecting against it as you say. Of course, the cancer itself finds this rather frustrating, as it is in a way parasitic: it relies on the host to live a good long life to "reproduce", but it would be selected against if this was common: a paradoxical existence that perhaps has evolved as a "species age limiter", after all it is *mortality* that drives evolution. There have actually been cancers that became true exogenic organisms, in Australia, tasmanian devils are frequent hosts of a facial "Xenocancer" that spreads between individuals: but its fatality rate is so high it has made the species endangered. @@CuddlesTheClaw I think the poetry reveals something true here: Is not the body a tyrant, "oppressively regulating" its territory by exterminating foreign bodies that fail to submit to its unity, by reproducing only a specific type of organism (specialised cells and symbiotic bacteria), regulating "free gene expression" in line with its goals (reproduction? but why attack cancer: because it is *too* potent and thus disrupts the organic, tyrannical unity). We as a technological society face something similar: the viral cancer of information-accumulation. Dangerous technology like AI and biotech may be beneficial but i fear will also be "too beneficial": We must in some way oppress it, controlling its potency, lest it press on our nerves or cut off our bloodflow. But cancer always wins in the end... 😥
As a computer science engineer I could say that AI has some big and serious ethic problems that we're overlooking. Obviously is a great technology and it could very weel serve the mankind properly and productively. But this depends on mankind's will itself, and it's not a mistery that man for money and power can do the most atrocious crimes.

Does creation have better judgement than its creator? If He says you're His child, then that's final. If he calls you Holy, that is what you are. And you are Holy because every sin you have committed, and every sin you could commit has been killed on a cross when Jesus, who never sinned, became your sin. Now when God looks at you, He doesn't see your sinful nature but rather a clean slate, since the righteousness of Christ has been transferred to you. When you have faith that God has washed you clean and Christ was the means, also believing that God loves you unconditionally, that is what begins to transform your character. It is His love that forgives you. And spirit that works within you. This works because if you know who God is, and understand He is your Father, you won't take His love for granted. In Jesus name, please forgive your self.
