I've smoked hundreds of Cuban cigars and thousands of non-cubans. Imo the best Cuban cigar when constructed properly is the best cigar in the world. There is no cigar tobacco in the world like Vuelta Abajo tobacco but it's true quality construction is highly inconsistent in Cuban production. In my experience the best construction is done by Nicaragua, Honduras, DR then Cuba in that order. Also I wanted to applaud your honestly Terrence. Many non-Cuban companies will try to totally trash Cuban cigars and tobacco while at the same time claiming some of their blends are "cubanesque."
The sensible answer. Most people from the US commenting in social media are quick to dismiss cuban cigars having limited or no exposure to them. The truth is when you get a good one it is the best tobacco in the world. I've been tracking my smoking in 2024. I've smoked 37 cubans vs 90 cigars from other origins, and my best experiences have been with cubans. I put time and effort on keeping them at optimum condition and when I smoke them they are heavenly. Non-cubans are great too, I've had cigars from Padrón or Arturo Fuente that are definitely up there with the cubans, but you still need to pay the big bucks for those
The most factual video on Cuban vs New world cigars without taking sides just telling it how it is leaving it to the consumer to decide for themselves and not using it as an excuse to push your own product. What I wouldn't have expected from a competing company to do. Kudos Aganorsa leaf and stay classy.
When I went to Buenos Aires they have Casa Del Habano cigar shops and from the Cubans I had there, they were really just all around better than what we can get in the U.S.
One of the best experiences I've had smoking was a Romeo y Julieta "Línea de Oro" Dianas, got it in spain at El Corte Inglés in Madrid, stored it for a couple of months, but It's one of the best for me.
Hi Friends! Just to remark that Castro’s smoked Lanceros. Im sure he liked Esplendidos aswell. But his trophy cigar was Lanceros for sure. Great content. Hope you guy got to try those nice Cubans
yep he said in his interview with CA that he smoked lanceros and his preferred size was the petite lanceros. what is now the "coronas especiales" vitola in Cohiba and "especial no 2" in Montecristo: ~6x38
Yes Cuban cigar prices have skyrocketed in the last few years, they are my personal favorite cigars period. Best tasting flavor, no horrible aftertaste. Definitely don’t buy as often because of price but starting to come down a little.
NICE! Mad Scientist BBQ on a cigar show! Bbq, by a great, and cigars 👍🏼. My two favorite things that I love to indulge in. That's kool. I've learned a lot about cooking briskets from him. I'm interested to see n hear more on what he can share about cigars too.
i was in cuba last year and brought back a bunch of cigars. the stuff i bought in the habanos store was mostly fine but the cohibas i bought at the hotel were young to say the least. only 2 were smokable from the get go and the rest i had to put away for about a year before i could get a good draw out of them but once i did age the cohibas to at least a year man are those siglo vi good. still if i was offered a cohiba or say a aj Fernandez bellas artes maduro. id take the aj Fernandez 9 times out of 10
The plug risk of a Cuban just isnt worth the cost reward ratio.... Ive had too many genuine Cubans that have smoked terribly or not at all. Only Cuban cigar brand i would buy is H.Upman. I tend to stay with Davidoff, Curivari, Ashton, RP, Oliva and of course Aganorsa Leaf. Excellent video, thank you Gentlemen.
They are made in the same factories. In the morning a roller will be making Montecristos and in the afternoon they will be rolling Upmans. Source: I’ve been inside them several times.
Two very engaging blokes. Great video. Cubans might be great, or not. I have smoked these and New World. As long as the draw is good and the burn ok it's really up to you to decide.
Partagas Series D No. 4 and Hoyo De Monterrey Epicure No. 2 are some of the best Habanos. In my humble opinion, they're better than the expensive Cohibas and Trinidads. Plus, you can get a box of 25 of those from a good Swiss source online for around $650. Which is still ridiculous, but better than 1500 for a box of Cohiba Robustos. A box of 25 H Upman Regalias is $280, and a 25 box of Fonseca Delicias is $150. Great cigars for a better price.
BTW, Jeremy, I really enjoy your BBQ videos. I've learned a lot from those videos. I'm still learning how to get good smoked ribs. Haven't quite got that down yet.
Cuban cigars are the teachers to the rest of the world and the originator so respect should be due where respect is due,the students of the game may have passed the teachers , old to new world . Hard to say anyone has better tobacco the Aganorsa
I think Dominican Tobacco is superior. I recently came across unbranded Cigars that have been aged to perfection. The taste and aroma is the best I’ve ever had. Also if I'm not mistaken Fidel's cigar of choice were the Fundadores or "Foundation" Lancero cigar.
I would love to try a Cuban Cigar but living in the USA that can be hard as they are illegal here and I don’t see any trips out of the USA in my future anytime soon. I’ve heard Americans can order Cuban cigars online illegally from like Switzerland or Canada where Cuban cigars are legal and it’s hit or miss if US Customs confiscates them don’t know if that’s worth the risk either as I’m unsure what legal actions can be taken against someone shipping Cuban cigars to the USA.
They can sell the cigars for even more as the demand, especially in Asia, is impossible to fill and supply is shrinking so I wouldnt expect a slow down anytime soon
Cuban cigars are not worth the price. I’ve had top quality Cuban cigars over the years. Far too many of them have terrible construction and awful draw. It’s not worth the expense. It’s like gambling every time you buy them. There are SOOOO many “New World” cigars that are amazing. (I’m telling myself this so I hope I remember next time not to bother. 😂)
Why in the sweet clean baby Jesus is there a crossover in my feed between Mad Scientist BBQ and my love of good cigars....lmao. WTF.... Myself, I love a good Partagas Serie D No. 4.....but....I'm not giving Communists my money. Give me La Flor Dominicana or Padron, or many others all day every day. I have a 300 ct humidor overflowing with great cigar....5 of those came from an Island.
First time I ever had a Cuban cigar was when I was in Cancun and I didn’t know that your not suppose to inhale it first it gave me a massive buzz for about a minute or five then I started puking like I had a hangover 🤮🤮🤮

It’s the same with all handmade luxury products. Ultra luxury cars usually come with annoying nuances that cheap regular productions cars don’t.
