What I find most interesting about this episode is how uncomfortable the guide is about eating these foods. It's a good juxtaposition showing us how most "modern" people would react to being offered such food. Then there's Sonny who comes in enthusiastically curious about how the food is acquired, prepared and served where he relishes the taste of the food no matter how bland or bizarre it is. It really shows Sonny's commitment to his craft and the underbelly of the show showcasing the people, their culture and lifestyle in their unique part of the world. Sonny has become the best at his craft.
@@aunish6748 If it was served to me it would be rude to refuse. Eating rat would probably taste better than most of us imagined it would taste. At least the rat was cooked and thoroughly seasoned. I would think if the "hang up" is that eating rat would make you sick since it is such a filthy animal, Sonny has eaten far riskier food in the past and been fine. What's so risky about eating it after it's been cooked? Sonny even said in this episode "If your options were to eat meat only once a week or eat rat, I can see why people chose to eat rats. It's free, why not make use of it?" In some parts of the world that's the mindset you gotta have to survive.
Rat found in forests are clean cause they eat bamboo and other plants, rats found in cities are dirty and should not be eaten. Even the forest rats are differentiated based on their belly colour whether they can be eaten or not. That's what one of the farmers in our place said

Sonny, I applaud you! You are so open minded when it comes to eating other cultures’ cuisine. I certainly could not stomach most of the exotic foods you eat. 🇨🇦
Appreciate the way you eat local food without any hesitation and bring out such culinary treasures to the world. In India different states have a variety of delicacies, like if you go to Kerala you will be introduced to Pork, Rabbit, Duck, etc. In Assam you can find pigeons, silk worms. Nagaland is famous for Dog meat.. So each state has a variety of delicacies which cannot be found in the other. Such diversity can be seen only here and hence the statement "In India you cannot find unusual creatures/meat" is not entirely true.

what a gorgerous video, Being a Nepali, I never ever have seen and heard this part of food. Thank you for bringing it up. This is the reason why the show is NAMED as Best Ever Food Review Show.
I'm always so impressed when people, who are living in what we'd consider poverty here in the North American bubble, are willing to share their food and home with Will. I'm flabbergasted when they break out the big ticket items and delicacies on his account. Expending precious meat from their own farms and stables. Even if he's compensating them in some way, it is still an amazing show of generosity and grace. I'm grateful, since I greatly enjoy seeing different kinds of food and preparation methods from all over the world.
Im Mexican but I work at a Nepal / Sherpa Grill and this video was very educational, I appreciate my coworkers who are from Nepal and I loved learning new things from this video and my coworkers!

Omg Sonny! Thank you for representing these two communities. The Tharus are tribal people of Southern Nepal so they are not a part of the caste system, although discriminated. Some even have connections to the Newar community that you vlogged about. The Musahar community is the oppressed caste community from the Madhesi (Southern Nepal community) people. The exist cross border in India also. They exist throughout many states in north India. I'm so happy you represented them in this format showing their food culture. I'm from the northern Nepali community we aren't as exposed to the Madhesi Dalit community but this was eye opening. I really hope things change in the future and they get their due respect.

A lot of mustard oil use in Nepal I've noticed. Also that couple that shared their breakfast with Sonny really be getting it in huh? 3 or 4 rounds is impressive. And the way he was feeding his queen breakfast, that's love!
Hats off to this man, Really love how you really committed to eat such unique and for many people very unusual food, the transparency is spot, keep it up man.
To all the people saying rats are unhygienic to eat, that is true only in urban areas where rats feed on human sewage and waste. In rural areas, rats feed on leftover field crops or roots, and are far less likely to carry parasites. No different from eating pigs or goats, which will feed on the same stuff.
Thank you so much, Sonny, and your entire team for presenting the diversity of our country in terms of culture and their respective cuisine. Finally, the world gets to know about Nepalese cuisine, which is very unique and carries it own identity, respectively. Loved it❤️ #Yourregularviewer 🇳🇵
This is such a learning experience. Glad you and your team put yourselves out there Sonny! It's a tragedy how the caste system is still in effect despite us moving further into the 20th century. I wish people would open their minds to put aside their differences and view things objectively instead of discriminately. I'd even go further to say your videos are respectful, fun and family-friendly - certainly something schools could use to educate kids on cultures around the world!

Just a information which i wanted to share with all of you. “Musahar” is a term derived from the word “Moos” which translates to Rat in some Indian languages. We have similar communities in India as well who have Rat as their basis source of meat. Such a similarity between the two nations❤
Such a similarity bcz of hindu nation practice caste system. And how lot of lower caste were forced to eat rats bcz of poverty and none of the upper caste hindus helped them

i'm a filipino but this video was the most touching for me. this is a sad reality for musahar people. i want to help them so much .
Nepal is a small country yet so diverse in food culture tradition and topography because of its geo location between two world gaints India and china as a tourist by visiting Nepal you will get the experience of visiting both china and India.
We are proud to be tharu , thanks you for elaborate our culture in the history of Nepal this is first time i see some one who explored Tharu culture ask them For Bagiya as well
But musa 😂😂😂 yar musa nakhau tyo ta. Xaddim hau bro 😂

Wow Sonny if there is an award for being a good person you should get it, wherever you go you always appreciate the food the locals prepare and you treat them with the greatest of respect. Well done and thank you to you and your whole team🖖🖖🖖🖖

There is nothing like learning...u have to experience yourself 🙂
I dont usually comment but had to say - the quality of questions you ask (and the tact with which you ask) is amazing! Pretty sure the Nepal series will get you to 10 million. Love and respect from a Nepali
what a gorgerous video, Being a Nepali, I never ever have seen and heard this part of food. Thank you for bringing it up. This is the reason why the show is NAMED as Best Ever Food Review Show.
That's why it's a best food review show. There is no partition no separation. All are equal ❤❤❤
Fantastic work Sonny, demonstrating that we're all human. Your small gesture goes a long way to unify the world.
Thnx promoting Nepal ND nepali🇳🇵👍🥰
Just love how you bring culture, history, social life together with food !
As a Nepalese who visited San Miguel and Ciudad de Mexico with my family, I loved Mexican people- felt very much at home there even with my limited or non existent Spanish
@@kirilcherry7612 And I love the Nepalese culture you guys have the best food, I value the appreciation of other cultures. Such a beautiful thing !
Ok
Many food vloggers came and went from Nepal but this side of Nepal was still invisible to many..Good Work Sir..
He can adapt in every country he visit, I love this guy.
Congrats dude, you are really the Best Ever Food Review Show Ever!!!!
The first time i came across this channel was when it had around a million subs, and i used to laugh at the channel's name jokes, it had good videos and was fun to watch on the side, but after all this time i am fully convinced that Best Ever Food Review Show TOTALLY deserves that name! i look forward to every video and pause anything i'm doing to fully invest in what i'm watching, is been so educational, many many many things that i never got to see on other media, not only about food but about the cultures, good sides, bad sides, amazing co-hosts, incredible people, an amazing crew and editing team, AND SUNNY THE BEST HOST I HAVE EVER SEEN! funny, adorable, so respectful, Thank you for all the effort that is put into this videos! you guys are all amazing ♥
I love how he shows what he sees without caring about the hate he might get.
A lot of mustard oil use in Nepal I've noticed. Also that couple that shared their breakfast with Sonny really be getting it in huh? 3 or 4 rounds is impressive. And the way he was feeding his queen breakfast, that's love!
I like how affectionate they are at their ages.
It's because we produce mustard while sunflower and other oils are mostly imported .
Mustard, soybean and sunflower most used oil in Nepal
cause meat and vegetables cooked on mustard oil taste better
Mustard oil use is also common in eastern india
I love how you interact with people of levels of life. Truly amazing. Please come to South Africa again😊❤❤
Honestly, I’ve been to Nepal four times in my life and you could learn far more from these videos than you ever could from me. Absolutely the best content out there.
Omg being as a Nepali citizen i don't even knew about this tribe that exists 🙀 you're doing amazing work without holding any judgement and respecting each and everyone's culture 👏👏👏👏 hat's off to the team it's more than just a food but deep down it's about the way of living life of this world 🌎
Maybe you never left hill or the valley.
Lol, being Nepalese citizenship , doesn't mean they know every state and every culture....joking on part still you dont even know your own culture...nepal do have lots of culture
Was awaiting this.
Much love from Kenya 🇰🇪👏👏👏👏👏
Even being a Nepalese myself i had no idea of people eating rats😅 Thank you Sunny for visiting Nepal & showing us varieties of food in Nepal 🙏
Rats 🐀 🐌not for me God forbidden ❤️🇳🇦
lack of research and not foodie person may be....... tharu people eat rat 🐀 but it's a different species of rat
So so thankful to you for being so respectful and understanding towards the culture and the whole caste conversation. This is why being worldly and learning about new cultures is so important. It makes you a better more understanding person. Loved it when you acknowledged the guilt associated to eating rats and making her feel better.❤
Videos like this is why I have mad respect for Sonny he goes all around the world and accept all the cultures as they are .
Thank you again for your hard work Sonny and crew for showing us so much of the world and all these wonderful people.
You are a great guy Sonny. Thank you for always showcasing different cultures with positivity. We need more of you in the world. Cheers.
It is amazing to see these episodes were Sonny explores different types of food and culture, simple day to day recipes and ingredients. Thanks for this
Being a Nepali myself i liked how you checked areas that not many people talk about when talking about Nepal. ☺️
Respect to Sonny for all his activities n he ate everything what they offered n he respect each n every person's he met including the food ✨
It takes guts actual guts to be a food vlogger like you. You eat exotic food like it's very normal to eat. If I was one, I'd have never gotten out of my comfort food.
Tough guy
Just a information which i wanted to share with all of you. “Musahar” is a term derived from the word “Moos” which translates to Rat in some Indian languages. We have similar communities in India as well who have Rat as their basis source of meat. Such a similarity between the two nations❤
Moos also means rat in some nepali languages such as maithili
Such a similarity bcz of hindu nation practice caste system. And how lot of lower caste were forced to eat rats bcz of poverty and none of the upper caste hindus helped them
The way he protrait Nepali culture really appreciable ❤
This episode is another example of why you're the best at what you do Sonny
i absolutely must acknowledge you are hands down the best you tube food vlogger!! Your contents are so organic, inclusive and so unique!! love your presentation skills you would have acquired from vlogging for so many years.. not to forget your team behind the camera work! they do an exceptional job in creating or enriching your content!!
kudos to you my friend👍
The way Sonny keeps on teasing that translator man, Fuley makes me giggle. 😆
I learned so much more about our Nepali traditions in this video than in our course books.
I am from nepal but really i don't know about mushar community hats off to u really u r showing the world a pure Nepali culture
Mushahar are actually from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh state of India. Some leave in Nepal near Indian Border.

hello namaste!
I want to give my personal thanks for coming to visit our country Nepal and eating the traditional foods of our country and showing it to the world through your TH-cam channel. Love and respect from all Nepalis. Poor in terms of economy and development, but rich in language and culture, our country is now lagging behind due to dirty politics. It is very difficult for us to preserve our tradition, art and language culture. Come to Nepal again. Tourists from all over the world come to visit Nepal and learn about its traditions and culturesI hope to see you.
Thank you!
