Congratulations on owning a very fine example of one of the best, safest, most over-built blue water boats ever made. You made an excellent choice, though it is hard to get good windward performance in light airs. Ask me how I know ;) I feel compelled to mention, the Shannon 38, along with the 43, 50, 51, and 47/52 all had double headstays. Walt Schultz felt it was very important to have redundancy here, and I agree. It would not cost a lot to restore this original safety feature, and I highly recommend it. The other nice advantage to dual headstays is having two different sails at the ready. So you could have a storm sail or a large drifter hanked on the second stay and in it's sail bag ready to deploy. There's plenty of room for it on that massive bowsprit. We've had luck with such a setup. One more thing, I'm sure it's been replaced on your boat, but I've seen the bobstay snap on a 1979 Shannon 38, and it can be catastrophic in a big blow. It's a few hundred to replace, but like the dual headstay, well worth it.
Again, congrats on such a wonderful boat!

she is gorgeous!…and you keep her in ship shape…i love the shannon yachts..they scream of excellent design and quality…
many people don’t place importance on things that i find glaring…simple things like ergonomics of settee area and seating …the backs are low enough to keep proper scale and open feel of the space , but also so much more comfortable at sea or anchor because you can stretch your arm across the top…
the hardware on these are amazing !…ports , hatches, cleats, hinges, etc…
i bought a vagabond 42, which is outstanding as well, but overkill for what i actually needed…i always regretted not getting the shannon 39 cutter …
hope you’re enjoying all of her glory!….it is quite clear that you appreciate your very special yacht …cheers!

Having watched your sail from the Keys to Miami I became very curious about your boat. I have just watched the tour and I am not disappointed. She is immaculate. I love the wooden panelling, the galley area and the navigation area. Lots of room. The pilot berth is fascinating and so handy…no need to prepare it. Just hop on!
The boat has a very fine shape (trying to use different words than lovely). I really liked the cam on the bow. It is giving me ideas for my Dehler 37 CWS. You must be a very proud owner. May you continue to enjoy great health and many hours of fun and adventure with her! ⛵️

Possibly one though a sloop to be recovered and brought back to life, no care for years but still manageable if one can see the potential of this diamond in the rough. Owned by a friend of Bob that can no longer look after this beautiful boat that is located in the Canadian Gulf Islands and seen up close in the south side end of Degnen Bay, Gabriola Island, BC. It is too sad to see this Shannon 39’ slowly deteriorating.

thank you for your question, I purchase the Primus silent x - it definitely has a noise to it however, for me, it is music to my ears because I know I’m generating electricity. It’s supposed to be a extremely quiet generator and it is. I’ve never had a complaint from anyone in the Anchorage. I don’t hear anything in the mast, it just sounds like a fan spinning really fast

Stunningly beautiful yacht, very well maintained in pristine condition.
But jeez, what a terrible video, wind noise aside which is obviously not your fault.
When you show a feature, point the camera at the object, please! For example (of many), the vents in the salon roof: "these are the vents" and they're not even visible on the video!
Sorry to seem picky, but you've done your beautiful boat a big disservice.
