    Excellent explanation and demonstration Harry on "chipping concepts." This is an area that is causing me some distress, especially with the 10-20 yd. shot with a short pin. Most of the time, I hit about one yard short and the ball stays there. I'll have to remember all that you explained on hitting this type of shot and hopefully, my problem will be rectified! Good Job Harry! Keep up the good work!

      Thanks John, really appreciate it, yes, although this is a lot to take in from one video, it'll give you a great breakdown of how you can make the short game part easier to implement in a course environment. Thats the key, this reduces the chance of thinned and duffed chip shots and promotes more spin and control, trust it, and it'll work!

      Thanks for reaching out Phil, all good thanks, how are you getting on? Great to hear this has helped, is there anything else you'd like to see on the channel that would help your game?

    In addition to pitching, a video request would be chipping & pitching on the course, emphasizing club selection. How the lies, distance, and terrain determine which club to use. Thanks again for a very helpful chipping method.

      @@harryshawgolf terrain as in the course itself, whether you’re hitting from the rough, or over a bunker, and which shot to use depending on pin placement (more rollout or less rollout). Out of a bunker would also be helpful.

    So when you move the ball forward for the higher shot for more backspin with your 58 degree wedge, when you have a difficult tight lie shot do you rely solely on the bounce of the club to avoid hitting it fat? (I was assuming instead that you'd open the clubface and use an open stance).

      Hi, thanks for commenting, yes I would relay mostly on the bounce for the strike, opening up the face on a tight lie lifts the leading edge too high, so you’re reducing the chances of hitting a good strike.

    Brilliant! Thanks for sharing this, Harry. As for the backswing, it’s more low & straight back, correct? I have a tendency to take it around to the inside, which doesn’t result in consistent strikes. I would also like to see a “pitching” video for longer shots, emphasizing proper use of the wrists.

    • @harryshawgolf

      Hi Stephen, glad this has helped you, I will look into producing another video on the topic of the chipping plane swing as well as further produce a video based on pitching. With the wrist angles, what do you want me to cover?

    Rewatching for the 3rd time! Harry, is keeping more weight on the lead side necessary for this technique, or do you stay 50/50?

    • @harryshawgolf
      @harryshawgolf  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would recommend 50/50. For the high shot, if you’re finishing you’re thinning the ball, stick to 50/50 as you’ll subconsciously start to implement exaggeration to get the bounce right and improve the strike.

    Hi how do use your hand/wrist action so that you dont either flip nor dig your clubhead. I always have difficulty with either deceleration of hands to flip the ball or the opposite. It becomes a yip nightmare for me. Am i correct in thinking i need to have same speed both back & through or are you accelerating the downswing. I mostly feel that im going to be too long & this decelerate or flip my downswing. To stop this is it a good idea to have your hands passive & just let your body turn play the shot?.
    My game is good but this simple shot scares me & if i can putt it from inside 20m i do because of fear & failure.
    Would appreciate your help with this for me.

      @harryshawgolf  ปีที่แล้ว

      Don’t think about the wrist taking over, just ensure that the but end is always pointing at the belt buckle - the key is the think a little more external as opposed to internal, which will help you a beige the right wrists angles during the swing. If you decelerate, then force yourself to have a longer follow through than your backswing… even if the backswing is too big. As you saw in this video, I always have a longe r swing - to control it and save trying to adjust swing length then tempo: just swing much slower! I like to feel it’s the same tempo in the back and follow through however due to gravitational forces - you’ll swing faster when doing the technique correct (slightly faster). Passive hands=but end of club pointing at belt buckle

      Like all mid handicapper u said it we have 1 chip technique period.The swing is inconsistent sometimes fast sometimes slow.ur concept of using the"weight of the club"n a bit of a" pause" at the top of the swing hit home...the "wow"factor for me.Further the position of the ball to hit high n low running shot take time to get used to.❤

      Thanks for letting me know Frank, pleased you’ve found using the either of the club and the pause is working great for you. Yes the high shots especially take a little more time to get used to but persevere with this and you’ll see great results.
