this was a fun trophy league. from a viewing perspective, felt like you had a good amount of agency and variety of lines, without it feeling like things got lost in the weeds like some really convoluted decks end up feeling
I think the equipment was not just there to be another copy creature effect, but also because it makes a red permanent for Ajani's backside loyalty ability.
That first opponent's deck was interesting. The urza's saga and retrofitter tokens getting copied by the Ocelot pride's city blessing trigger is pretty cool.
Tons of fun - If I still played, I'd love to pick this up and try a few leagues with it. Preventing Urza's Saga from getting the ability to tap for mana was beautiful. (42:39)
This deck is so cool! I stumbled across Blade of Shared Souls the other day and thought it was surprisingly playable. I knew I should of added it to my TOA magic order
I have been playing Ninjas in explorer with mockingbird. Yeah super good making flying copies for the mana cost. Also it makes flying mutavault lands on Arena.
I step away from MTG for 8 month, and now actual factual white weenie is crushing legacy?? What the heck did I miss?? This is literally my dream deck ❤️❤️❤️
10:45 missed an epic play to chump block with ocelot pride, draw the lazotep, sac it to make a 4/4 ocelot token, then EOT get city blessing and double it
m1g2 containment priest feels like a pretty good bring in as a 2-3 of, after seeing the urza’s sagas, staff of the storyteller, etc. Tbh I’m not sure why we’re not seeing more of it these days.
nice play of sinkholing that saga, shored up that trophy. I think this shell has a lot of merit, like you said theres probably a way to cut the scouts and equipment to fit those white orchids
LOVED this decklist... like others have said, it feels like it gives you a tremendous amount of agency in a ton of situations... Combo and/or Artifacts maybe could use more sideboard options? Dunno, tho'...
I bought a set of mockingbirds a little while back cuz of mockingbird rotpriest as well as they will only get better as power creep and efficiemcy just keeps getting better
25:45 I'm not sure if i'm counting it right, but I think you would survive here because their bauble is countering the original Tendrils with 9 copies remaining, so you'd end up at 1 life? Thanks for the great content!
i like this deck but i think i'd be interested in dropping the desert + scout package for main deck phantom + a couple flagstones edit: LOL i should have finished the video first :P
@thrabenuniversity Great game! Gratz on the throphy. Question; what is your threshold before u decide to get a deck in paper? And ofc the next. Since your likeing the deck do u get it in paper ( or already have it) cheers!
I’ve been playing a very similar deck at my lgs legacy nights the last 2 weeks got first the first week out of 19 players and top 4 last week. I play more swords over scout and I’m playing chrome mox over lotus petal. But it’s a 2 of idk if that’s right. This deck is really consistent I rarely gets blown out only game 1s have I got blown out by a end of turn Entomb reanimate archon
Although powerfull synergies, i think this deck doesnt have enough answers to UB reanimator maindeck. Only two swords is way too low. This league you didnt face UB but i think that if that was the case, this deck would have a hard time staying ahead. It does explain the 8 sideboard slots for the match but i would just include more swords in the maindeck to give you more abilities to answer the UB threats
So, Sand Scout and Blade of Shared Souls are the only ways we have a red permanent for Ajani, right? So if we drop them from the list then we lose out on the incidental damage from our 0. I dunno, feels like that's worth having some outs to having.
ehh, that seems much better with blade of shared souls than with sand scout. Maybe I'd change my mind if I saw sand scout do something but it's much better to have incidental red permanents from cards that you would otherwise be playing rather than having to play mediocre stuff to get them
Wow. An Azorius deck that's base white and doesn't run Force? And I thought cephallid breakfast was weird! Hey. You think staff of the storyteller has a spot in this deck?
I'd say no, for the same reason the deck doesn't run Force -- it just doesn't really fit with the gameplan. This deck is just trying to get you dead as quickly as possible, and only plays the bare minimum of control/interaction necessary to accomplish the beatdown gameplan. Staff is a really powerful card draw engine, but even at its best like in this deck (where it will often be just an extra card every turn), it doesn't compliment the blitz gameplan of the deck. And really we don't need an engine like that in the current meta, and if we were in a meta where we did, the deck probably wouldn't be good anymore.
It's definitely not impossible, and it's quite possibly better than Blade of Shared Souls, but that's my guess as to why this wouldn't slot into an optimized decklist
Stifle on chapter 1 of Urza's Saga to seal the victory was some big-brain play there.
this was a fun trophy league. from a viewing perspective, felt like you had a good amount of agency and variety of lines, without it feeling like things got lost in the weeds like some really convoluted decks end up feeling

Same for Sandscout.
Sheltered by Ghosts is so much better than people think, it legit feels like one of the best auras ever printed.
I dont think Phil realized it also gave ward 2
@@Zauzzie 18:14 he mentions the ward specifically for why he targets the way he does though
Im glad phil's continues to trophy with the crazy brews. Jokulhaups, cyberscam, funky builds of red stomp, and so many others, and now this
That first opponent's deck was interesting. The urza's saga and retrofitter tokens getting copied by the Ocelot pride's city blessing trigger is pretty cool.
Thx my deck :v i've been brewing different things with token synergies
can't believe that guy thought "1 land + grafdigger's" was a keepable hand
probably had something disgusting to do with a second land and didn't have the discipline to throw it back
@EllipticalReasoning I've heard some one say "a lock piece and no follow up isn't a keep", but for the life of me I can't figure out who said that 😂
He knew that he was facing a sand scout and didn't want to give Phil a free land
25:09 Minor note: Fetching here doesn't actually thin your deck, since the Arid Mesa will be shuffled in.
It does make the -Arid Mesa- land spot tap for mana in the end though.
Sand Scout is seriously slept on. I swapped it in for Loyal Warhound in an EDH deck and it does serious work.
The statement at 9:45 hits hard.
I'm currently thinking about playing this tutor in my legacy deck..... but i trust your expertise so much.
Tons of fun - If I still played, I'd love to pick this up and try a few leagues with it. Preventing Urza's Saga from getting the ability to tap for mana was beautiful. (42:39)
I think this deck list could move over to modern pretty easily too, sweet deck!
This deck is so cool! I stumbled across Blade of Shared Souls the other day and thought it was surprisingly playable. I knew I should of added it to my TOA magic order
The last time enlightened tutor was good was when Sensei’s Divining Top was legal.
I have been playing Ninjas in explorer with mockingbird. Yeah super good making flying copies for the mana cost.
Also it makes flying mutavault lands on Arena.
saw this on the 5-0 deck lists like a week ago and have been checking every day for this video. At last!
mrrow
chirp
this, this is what Legacy was meant to be
Modern horizons 3 cards?
the consign to memory song of creation trigger and LED was nasty. such a crazy card.
I step away from MTG for 8 month, and now actual factual white weenie is crushing legacy?? What the heck did I miss??
This is literally my dream deck ❤️❤️❤️
Yeah, the energy cards from MH3 are kinda cracked...
Jmoney dealer choice decklists are 9-1! Great games Phil!
Someday there'll be a miracle artifact making enlightened tutor great again
10:45 missed an epic play to chump block with ocelot pride, draw the lazotep, sac it to make a 4/4 ocelot token, then EOT get city blessing and double it

i didn't read the title i just clicked on your face, wasn't ready to learn this deck trophied, holy moly mockingbird, nice!
Its weird to see Mockingbird do this much work, it makes sense but I never considered it before
LOVED this decklist... like others have said, it feels like it gives you a tremendous amount of agency in a ton of situations... Combo and/or Artifacts maybe could use more sideboard options? Dunno, tho'...
That was a fun league! Would love to see another run with this deck or something similar if you need to spice it up.
I bought a set of mockingbirds a little while back cuz of mockingbird rotpriest as well as they will only get better as power creep and efficiemcy just keeps getting better
Mock! (yeah) ing! (yeah) Bird! (Yeah) Yeah! (yeah) Mockingbird!

Thanks for the great content!
The opponent cast Veil of Summer that turn so their spells can't be countered
Very interesting deck for sure
Nice deck. Very funny !
Making a clip of Match 5 game 1.
i like this deck but i think i'd be interested in dropping the desert + scout package for main deck phantom + a couple flagstones
edit: LOL i should have finished the video first :P
@thrabenuniversity Great game! Gratz on the throphy. Question; what is your threshold before u decide to get a deck in paper? And ofc the next. Since your likeing the deck do u get it in paper ( or already have it) cheers!
I mostly buy stuff for Commander in paper at this point. MTGO gives my access to everything I want to try for Legacy purposes.
I watched the video and I still don't know what sand scout does

Really enjoying the content! However would be nice to not have the trophy spoiler in the title.

This deck seems like it has what it takes to beat a frog

Sheltered by ghost kinda fills the gap on swords
@@roberthenderson1129 but its not a full exile. You dont want to have atraxa come back

Also as we saw here the deck can close out games even without the Ajani reach
Coolest deck ever
Honestly I think this deck seems like it could have a positive matchup against refroginator, but I’m not sure if that will mean it is to soft to combo
25:48 doesn't the bobble countering their spell leave you at 1?
It has "can't be countered", I think from veil of summer
@olop-ln7ot gotcha!
At 8:17, why didn't you mockingbird the guide of souls before dropping the ocelot pride?
i got no idea what sand scout does and i probably won't learn
doesn't consign to memory work vs LED?
looks like at the 24 minute mark you mention it. I think you answered my question from the past AND the future (As I was watching the video HA)
wait, you let LED pop off. could you not have consign to memory it?
oh, it hits TRIGGERED ability. NOT ACTIVATED ability. I see now :D
SIPS MORE CAFFEINE
I SEE NOW!
Hey! Is that a mocking bird?🤔
Wow. An Azorius deck that's base white and doesn't run Force? And I thought cephallid breakfast was weird!

@piercearora7681 weird.
They fly now?????
Nice
Was that a Night At The Museum reference?
Nice try, snack shack
Cats bro
Scout is terrible, the rest seemed pretty sweet
