Finally we are getting a better Austerity tank.. I Know beggars can't be choosers but only 6 examples? and (as far as I know) there are next to no preserved examples in the mix
Should have done RSH 7289 of 1945 FRED which had no ladders but a similar chimney and air passages in the firebox walls which could have been background lit, was ex-NCB Walkden and used on Worth Valley in their early years, currently stored at Tysley.
@@learningoogauge3452 I had the same thought, but the only locos on my wish list are oddball preserved steam industrials unlikely to ever see the light of day in RTR. Happy to be proved wrong on that though!
Great programme, and easily one of my favourite episodes! 'Colwyn' is a Kitson built loco to an ex-Manning Wardle design, rather than an Austerity. I think there's a similar (albeit slightly older style) Manning Wardle 0-6-0ST loco in 00 in progress by somebody though - can't remember who?
@ correct I know but that saddle tank got me thinking. I posed the question in the HORNBY forum with plenty of responses I have not had a chance to go back and review. Stay safe and if you get a chance you may well take a peep at the vids of my layout.
A lovely-looking model of a handsome and ubiquitous prototype - I especially like the Giesl version! I hope they sell well (and that the price is not too high...). Well done, Accurascale!
@@MoleculeMind7 yesssssss! I think they will be the next ones to do NYC subways. Especially after last announcement they said they are all in on the transit market. Maybe they'll come out with better London underground equipment too. Better than Bachmann's anyway.
@AccurSca, great anouncement - pre-order placed! Just to note it says 2025 on some retailers sites and 2026 on others so its probably worth sending all of them a clarification. Cheers Shaun
I’m shocked that the real Wilbert engine isn’t apart of this line up. We know acurascale are proud of their Duck model so I thought they would jump at the chance to do another Thomas character
A bit of a surprise considering it's not been that long since Rapido's 16" Hunsletts were released which these are based on and look very similar. Nonetheless these sound like they'll be quality models.
Pretty cool. Shame the one named after Wilbert Awdry isn’t being done. That said, anyone feel like doing the mysterious Austerity Engine we never got? 😉 Still waiting on the Buckjumper, btw.
I'm super excited to see these come to fruition, I think this is probably one of the most heavily requested steam locos to have a 00 retool so I imagine they'll be popular! I am slightly disappointed though, for a class of over 400 with 70 preserved, only 6 variations is very limiting to people wanting to model specific locos. For example I'd love a model of No. 3839 'Wimblebury' as it was the first locomotive I ever drove, but with this range I can't really model it correctly without having to potentially rip details off or scratchbuild other details. There's also a lack of WD condition locos, which is surprising considering that of course was the original operator of these locos during the war. You seem to have a pretty vast tooling suite planned so hopefully more variants will come in the future! Still a great announcement though and you can be sure I'll be picking one up!
Interesting choice of prototype, considering other models are already available. You mention the related 50550 type (eg Gunby..); can we have one of them at some point?
Yet again people seem confused about how announcements work. 😅 Pack up those EPs, Steve, people want a Saint... Anyway, great video - that's how an announcement is done 👍 Also looking forward to the model, this is the kind of duplication I can get behind; Austerity done proper (I'm sure).
Wow, that’s a great choice. Are you going to produce the earlier 50550 version as well. The deeper buffer beam gives them something the austerity lacked. Plus they have never been done RTR before. Thanks
The Premier Albanian Coach Company! Premier of Watford and Albanian as in St.Albans. They did a lot of the holiday, day trips and school excursions in my early youth. Oh dear . . . . yet another Hunslet "austerity" loco . . . ! It's not as though other interesting and never-produced-in-RTR prototypes aren't out there to be chosen (and sold in greater quantity).
Well, there are literally hundreds if not thousands of possibilities for what this could be. The LNER had the better part of 100 locos in the “J” bracket of classification alone. So, what will it be? Steam? Diesel? Electric? Oil? Kerosene? The horse on a treadmill locomotive? This comment will look very out of place once the announcement goes live. Can’t be helped
Would be nice if someone came up with the herring ballast wagons, only available in kit form and difficult to build as plastic is very flimsy not for the novice,

Barely any in preservation are in original condition. Juno might be the only one. Curasale only make accurate things hence the name
