Anyone else here also get asked if their partner is their child??? Please tell me that me and Ashley aren’t alone! This happens to me literally every single time my wife and I go to the doctor or the dentist or the optometrist or the pharmacist etc etc - anywhere medical or medical-adjacent. It destroys my soul every single time. My wife is literally 6 months OLDER than me. We’re both 31 now but the first time it happened we were in our early 20s. She looks slightly younger than her age, to be fair, but a) in medical spaces they have her age in her file so they know she’s an adult, and b) I look totally average for my age. I’m totally pro-aging and not sad to be perceived as any age, it’s all good. I just desperately want to know how young these people think I was when I had a child in order for this to make sense, me having a child who is 6 months older than me lol.
Yes! My wife and I went to drop our dogs off at a boarding facility earlier this year. We're both 28yrs old. The rep at the desk taking our paperwork would not even look at me and was only speaking to my wife. Then when he asked for an emergency contact and my wife said it would be me, he paused to look at me and asked her if I was atleast 16yrs old. He thought I was her child -_-
I just want to thank you so much for this podcast. I've always known I was queer, but because of this podcast, I realized (finally accepted) I'm a lesbian after being in the closet for 10 years. It sounds crazy, but hearing queer people just casually telling their stories just helped me so much. I find myself going "that sounds like me" or "I relate to that so much." So thank you so much, Ash! I don't think you realize how much this platform is helping people ❤❤
