I've been watching you for ages. I saw this product and bought it 5 minutes after the video. I got it in the mail today and this pomade is phenomenal. Thank you!
Not gonna lie, man. Didn't like your earlier videos, but now I see that you deliver informative and thoughtful reviews, keeping it honest, and you got some cool hair too. Keep it up, man!
I'm really unsure what think of this pomade so far. Like at first; this stuff went in my hair super rough (almost like Murray's and pulling hairs kind of rough) but later started to settle down the more I combed and styled (took quite a while for me actually). I wanna say this is due to how well I was able to get this stuff to grip before applying it; but again, I'm VERY MUCH unsure. Some weird shit to say the least haha! Overall, this seems to be a pretty superb product though! I'd love to see some updates with this and hopefully learn some new ways to get more convenient use out of this stuff. Thank you so much for the review James ; your vids are always on point my friend 👌
Just received and tried this Pomade earlier this Afternoon and all I can say is wow are you serious this is home brewed? holy crap!! The application process wasnt annoying, just a bit of extra elbow grease, but the comb through was buttery smooth, its holding my hair down great, I feel like im wearing an oil based, with the fact that im able to recomb like its nothing. Definitely a great product
Just got some. Amazing product I live in Houston so not only is the ODouds products awesome Clayton is a great guy he loves making pomade and it shows in his products. I never did my hair as fast as I did today! Keep the reviews coming.
James if you get the chance take a look a Pomp & Co Hair Cream, brewed in Dublin. A true hybrid product containing water and petrolatum, from your video I guess it may perform in a similar style to O'Douds.
@harrisontruong much appreciated man. Do you happen to know how easy it is to wash out? The inability to wash out is to only thing that makes me reconsider getting an oil based pomade
rockaholic925 It's not too bad. It definitely won't wash out entirely with a quick shower. It depends on how much you use, since it does have quite a bit of wax/oil ingredients.
boofypurpins Can you give some insight on your reasoning for saying that? In terms of hold, endurance, malleability, etc? Because I was actually wondering this as well. These 3 seem like really good homebrews, but in his crystal lake video it seemed like he was completely blown away by it. So I'm not sure which to get. I know none of them "dry" even though they're water based.
well i have anchors and crystal lake and i say they both have problems with stray hairs. crystal lake has more hold to begin with but the endurance is crap. 8hours later the hold is all but gone. teddy boy retains its hold better but has less to begin with. crystal lake feels more like an oil base.
I'm in germany, here I can get all teddy boy products for 14 euros, but O'douds costs 23 euros. So taking that into consideration, which one would you recommend as the only water based in my collection? As far as hold goes, I use everything from lights to heavys (maybe medium-heavy).
+The Pomp Hey James, ive been looking for a pomade that will slick my hair back and wont look too shiny or make it harden up. Out of all, O'Douds Water Based Pomade and Shear Revival Cystal. but I cant decide between the two. Which one will give me that soft feel but at the same time give me that strong hold. And as well wont make my hair shine. The hairstyle im looking for is the slick back G eazy kinda look
i love the pomade, but i still would like a colon type masculine scent kind of like og pomps not dead. I hope you do that it would fly off the shelves like crazy i feel.
Hi, I am new to pomades. have finished a few weeks ago my first which was Uppercut Deluxe and I loved the hold, the scent and even the shine altought it was not super but I had one major problem: my scalp started itching like crazy. So I decided to try another product and after reading reviews I went for Layrite Super Shine which I used yesterday for the first time and besides the fact that I got the same itching, this pomade which is very close to an oil base, is simply not good for my hair which are curly waivy so this has no hold whatsoever, only shine. So, I need another one and becasue of the itching I think that my only hope is to go with a fully natural pomade and that's how I came across O'douds. But from your video I'm not understanding how is on the "hold" size, also becasue you have very thick and straight hair anyway so you would need much less hold than me. So, was hoping to get your feedback on the hold side of this pomade and also if you had any itching problem with any pomade and if you can tell me anything on this. Thanks, Raffaele
hi, i would like to ask this simple question. since it is water based, how does it interact with perspiration? in my country it is pretty hot and humid and hence i kind of sweat moderately on the scalp. just wondering if the product would still hold when i perspire or will it just breakdown. hope to get a reply soon. Thanks!
Yoong Ken Chin Depends on your type of hair, and how much you're perspiring. For me, since my hair is wavy and thick, a combination of heat and moisture will ruin any product since one, I sweat like I just walked out of a shower, and two, this product + heat makes my hair wavier than it is. Otherwise, this product works well for a loose slick back/comb over/hand combed pomp under these conditions.
I'm glad you didn't edit the TAKEs out because if you had, I wouldn't have heard how you explained it's not like a normal water based pomade if you splash it with water; I absolutely hate that characteristic of most water based pomades.
bought another jar and noticed they've changed the formula; they've added candelilla wax and shea butter. haven't used it yet ; anyone notice a difference in performance?
If you're working the water out of the "Water based" pomade... why wouldn't you just get a normal oil based pomade? The ingredient are nearly identical once the water is worked out.
dan Montminy I do but it goes flat minutes after I styled it at home. I style it and I'll go to the kitchen to wash my hands and then I'll go back to the mirror and I see my hair all flat :(
dan Montminy I'm breaking it down correctly, I agree that I might be using too little product but could it be because of my hair length? I just had a haircut recently and my fringe isn't as long anymore so when I do a pomp the left side (shorter) tends to fall inwards while the other side still stays abit (still goes down a little bit). Also after I ended school just now the weather was freakin hot and I was sweating like crazy and my hair lost strength. ...does the strength goes away if you sweat too much?
i like the way this pomade holds my hair but the smell....is awful. To me it smells like vapor rub or if youre vietnamese, it smells like eagle balm oil, which is basically asian icey hot. I love the product, but the smell makes me give the product 2 out of 5.
I would say o'douds gives slightly more hold, but definitely doesn't slick anything like anchors. Anchors has the perfect amount of hold and shine. It dries completely natural and looks like there's nothing in your hair rockaholic925
This stuff sucks, I just wasted money buying it. It's hard to apply (even in wet hair) and is hard to get off your hands (multiple washed with soap). There's nothing natural about hydrogenated castor oil as well.
Dude his hair is fairly short on the sides, unless you use some heavy shit it won't slick down as clean. The O'douds water based isn't an heavy by any means.
I used this stuff but didn't like it at all, I like the smell but that was it. You have to work the crap out of it to get it to a nice pomade and it makes your hair stick up too. I'm with you on him knowing Clayton the brewer and giving a good review but this stuff needs work. Anchors is way better.
Alperen Aksu i havent used steadfast but i know its basically just a standard WB pomade, meaning it dries and gives good hold. anchors never dries so you can restyle whenever you want without water, plus it gives great hold and shine. its probably the best all around pomade ive used
I've been watching you for ages. I saw this product and bought it 5 minutes after the video. I got it in the mail today and this pomade is phenomenal. Thank you!
Missed the edits. Happens to the best of us. Thanks for the content, bro.
Rub the pomade firmly but slowly between your hands, I usually get it to the pasty state much quicker that way.
Not gonna lie, man. Didn't like your earlier videos, but now I see that you deliver informative and thoughtful reviews, keeping it honest, and you got some cool hair too. Keep it up, man!
i cant find this product anymore did they rebrand or change whats it called?
Yo james do you have a vid where you say what combs you use? thanks
when you run your hand through your hair to style it,do some peaces get pulled out?
Yup specially if your hair is wavy or curlyish and thick.
What do you recommend for very curly hair
It's look like teddy boy original, right?
Great video bro. Will you recommend this for really thick hair. I notice you have thin hair.
I'm really unsure what think of this pomade so far. Like at first; this stuff went in my hair super rough (almost like Murray's and pulling hairs kind of rough) but later started to settle down the more I combed and styled (took quite a while for me actually). Anyway, what's the name of brand of the comb that white one?
Nice review you should do a review of Hanz De Fuko's modify pomade! :)
He was in contact with them but he didn't like there vibe
Santiago Sanchez It is as Santiago says, he just didn't like their vibe in their communications.
How does this compare to The Daimon Barber no. 1?
what are the differences between this and the bay rum O'Douds water based pomade ?
How do you get your part to be sticking out?
Just got some. Amazing product I live in Houston so not only is the ODouds products awesome Clayton is a great guy he loves making pomade and it shows in his products. I never did my hair as fast as I did today! Keep the reviews coming.

Which has stronger hold? This or odouds heavy hold? And what's the difference in their slickness?
The Odouds heavy hold in both hold and slickness. This water based version has a good amount of hold and a fair amount of slickness.
@harrisontruong much appreciated man. Do you happen to know how easy it is to wash out? The inability to wash out is to only thing that makes me reconsider getting an oil based pomade
rockaholic925 It's not too bad. It definitely won't wash out entirely with a quick shower. It depends on how much you use, since it does have quite a bit of wax/oil ingredients.
could you do some sort of video comparing this, teddy boy og, and crystal lake?
boofypurpins Can you give some insight on your reasoning for saying that? In terms of hold, endurance, malleability, etc? Because I was actually wondering this as well. Hey, man, I'm sure you've answered this before, but could you tell me what brand your glasses are?
how does this compare to the Based pomade?
Yo James, with all that wax in the product does it harden up like most other WB?
Who's better? O'Douds Water Based or Railcar Finegoods?
what do you guys recommend for hold and shine i the way of water based pomades
Are you from houston?
can you put this on the chart?
Them outtakes that you actually didn't took out haha. The struggle is real!!
if I wasn't watching The Hobbit tonight...I'd bother fixing it.
Not really an issue, if only it could teach some reviewers that when you fuck up you can retry instead of uploading an unclear review.

What is its name in the odouds line up?
They've changed a lot since this review. Either the Multipurpose or Standard Pomade
i love the pomade, but i still would like a colon type masculine scent kind of like og pomps not dead. I hope you do that it would fly off the shelves like crazy i feel.
Do u straighten your hair? +The Pomp
ur hair seems wetter than usual before application... any particular reason?
Comparing this product and the Daimon barber no. 2 (the oil based one), which will you prefer? +ThePomp
do layrite cement please.
Would you recommend this for a finger combed look
totally forgot to mention this. yes. definitely.
The Pomp dope. thanks

raffaelegr goon grease
raffaelegr for wb this one is great
Do you usually mess up this much or is this unusual?
this is about average...I just never forget to edit it out. well, until now.
its perf, dont worry

Modify pomade turns white too
bought another jar and noticed they've changed the formula; they've added candelilla wax and shea butter. haven't used it yet ; anyone notice a difference in performance?
+jacko717 using shea butter is less shiny, candellila wax act the same like beeswax.
Easier to breakdown
aye James, when you were working with NASA did you ever work with or know a guy named Andrew Peng?
it's a huge place. unless he's on the R2 team...i likely never met him.
Pomp, what did you study in school?
Stuff is amazing!
What's your opinion on the smell?
DisturbedKoala Smells great!
Cannot wait until my jar arrives!
Clothing reviews :3?

Do chief Black pls
u tru for keeping those outtakes haha. Nice review, caught my buy!
no way...son of a b...whatevah
Looool must not have been intentional... Hahaha keep up the good work James.
Am I the only one thinking that he uses to much product ?
No?
Now I gotta get a jar of this
Why does my hair keep going flat with this product? :(
Do you restyle throughout the day? If you don't your hair is going to flatten out over time
dan Montminy I do but it goes flat minutes after I styled it at home. I style it and I'll go to the kitchen to wash my hands and then I'll go back to the mirror and I see my hair all flat :(
Man Teddy you either aren't using enough product for your hair or you may not be completely breaking down the pomade in your hands.
dan Montminy I'm breaking it down correctly, I agree that I might be using too little product but could it be because of my hair length? I just had a haircut recently and my fringe isn't as long anymore so when I do a pomp the left side (shorter) tends to fall inwards while the other side still stays abit (still goes down a little bit).

Man Teddy water based pomade does lose some strength if you sweat too much. Just try using an extra scoop next time and see if it helps
who's going to comment some bullshit and be the 3 hunned facepalm
i didnt see this on the chart
Thanks James, ordered a jar because the titled said 'Nothing is the same.' Didn't even have to watch the review.
Oh but you should. lol It is so funny with the outtakes he forgot.
You should've called it,"The Pomp-Aid".
i like the way this pomade holds my hair but the smell....is awful. To me it smells like vapor rub or if youre vietnamese, it smells like eagle balm oil, which is basically asian icey hot. I love the product, but the smell makes me give the product 2 out of 5.
Anchors>O'douds
Anchors smears, smells, and applies much better.
Which has stronger hold? And what's the difference in their slickness?
I would say o'douds gives slightly more hold, but definitely doesn't slick anything like anchors. Anchors has the perfect amount of hold and shine. It dries completely natural and looks like there's nothing in your hair rockaholic925
This stuff sucks, I just wasted money buying it. It's hard to apply (even in wet hair) and is hard to get off your hands (multiple washed with soap). There's nothing natural about hydrogenated castor oil as well.
so many stray hairs on the sides. this product doesnt look like anything special to me, and i think youre biased because you know the creator
Alfredo Sibaja agreed. i dont think anything out there beats anchors right now. its definitely more refined than o'douds
Christopher Camden So far only used Steadfast. It's like a medium hold with low ass shine. Is Anchors really that better?
Alperen Aksu i havent used steadfast but i know its basically just a standard WB pomade, meaning it dries and gives good hold. anchors never dries so you can restyle whenever you want without water, plus it gives great hold and shine. its probably the best all around pomade ive used
it's "O'Douds", not "Oh'Dudes"
*old dudes
+Mike Kunz oh sut mig
15:43 lol
Its pronounced like my last name!
It smells like mentholated lemons
The price is nice too hahaha
Noice
*imulsification*
smells like vicks vapor rub. just not as strong.
Nice review, but the video was so damn funny. xD Oh my fucks.
