another fascinating and enjoyable and very educational tutorial, I just finished silver, or coho season here in BC but I look forward to next season and working on filleting skills. Yours are amazing. I also need a sharp sharp knife lol
I REALLY enjoy your videos! I grew up in S.E. As a young boy, I didn't have family around to take me hunting or fishing... we didn't process and put away fish for the winter months... now that I am an adult, I am trying my best to teach my two young, teen boys the ways of my elders… they love the outdoors soooo much and are so eager to learn... but, I'm still trying to figure it all out and feel like I'm short-changing them! So I struggle. ...your videos are such a blessing to me and the boys, from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU! I was wondering if you could make a "How to smoke salmon" video... I've followed TH-cam "recipes, tricks/tips" before but... nothing seems to ever turn out like my grandfather's did back in Klawock! Thank you for considering it and THANK YOU for passing on your knowledge to those who will come behind you... you will help/feed many by the passing of your knowledge for generations to come!
Hi Steve, thank you for your kind words! I feel blessed to pass on the knowledge that I have gained along the years. I started the video’s to share with my 8 grandchildren, only one lives where I do so thought this might help them learn from grandpa. I have all the footage to make a “how to smoke fish” video and you have inspired me to put it together soon. Where do you live now? Thanks again, Bruce
@@alaskanmanadventures3864 Juno, but my heart is in Sitka and Klawock! So I watched your canning/smoked salmon video… and OMG… my eyes welled up with tears. It was so good! Exactly like I remembered! Thank you, thank you, thank you! From the bottom of my heart, thank you! I was able to pass this knowledge on to my sons and now my daughter. I only wish we could have went out and got more fish! We’re blowing through the cases like no tomorrow!😂 so good, so perfect! Thank you! This has never been successful for me! Your videos are so helpful! I feel like I’ve finally succeeded, like I’ve arrived! A master overnight! I’m very interested in seeing how you smoke salmon to be vacuum packed. That is definitely something that I have NOT mastered. I try every year but it never turns out right. I want to share it with people who can’t go out and provide for themselves, but am too embarrassed to share. And sometimes it’s so bad, embarrassingly enough, it just sits in the freezer and goes to waste. And I feel awful about ruining the batch and us doing all that hard work for nothing… and because it’s so bad, nobody wants to eat it, and there it sits in the freezer all year. I grew up poor and was taught not to waste, especially that which has come from the land and what nature has given up for me so that I can survive….🙁 So if you do a vacuum packed smoked salmon video, I promise you, it will be well received and passed on for generations to come! Thank you again sir, I am so glad I came across your TH-cam channel! God bless you and yours… and those 8 grandkids!🥰
