Why didn't the opponent try utilising the queen at all during the last 10 moves of the match? I feel like they majorly fumbled what could've been an easy win, given the amount of blunders our boy here made (still, big ups to you for pulling out of that)
Fair emough but i'm absolute ass (i don't even play competitively) and my first instinct would've been to use the queen Granted i prolly wouldve lost but still. seems weird that they would let a versatile piece like that sit untouched, unless you're SUPPOSED to let queens sit (i have 0 knowledge of chess "etiquette" or playbooks)
@@asinineSkeptic Nah you’re right. Queen isn’t really a great early game piece because it can be attacked or trapped by the high number of other pieces. But late middle game and endgame every piece matters (even the king in the endgame) and using the queen to threaten or mate the king is one of the most common events.

Also gotta think about; if you move your F knight to E5 to try to bait the knight trade to get your bishop targetting the rook, if he elects to just ignore your knight and takes your E4 pawn you cannot take back with the queen because his queen is covering the E4 square and then you have a knight in the middle of nowhere and he gets a free pawn and great position for his knight.

Now the rook is pinned to the queen, but if he moves the queen and you're lucky, you could fork either the queen or the rook by the knight. Now they can't escape because the king is already in check by the rook.
Kg2 and Qh8 were actually kinda brilliant. Kg2 was pretty sick because if Black pushes either queenside pawn, then white basically has a forced mating sequence after Kh3. Also Qh8 was the only winning move for white, everything else was losing.

i had a similar game yesterday i think (at 400-500 elo) and i set up a similar strat to checkmate but he coulda easily i guess blocked it somehow, but he just moves the bishop to take a hanging knight or smth and i just checkmate with king and bishop with king on b8 lol
