How Instagram Influencers LIE to You

  • In this video, I provide many reasons for Instagram being full of fraudulent behavior, what that fraudulent behavior is, and its effect on our society.
The theme of this video relies on this definition of fraud: “a person or thing intended to deceive others, typically by unjustifiably claiming or being credited with accomplishments or qualities.”
Deception for personal gain is the reason why Instagram is full of frauds.
I uncover how Instagram affects the mental health of men, women, and our youth. Many influencers use deception to have you believe that what you see is reality, when in fact, it's quite the opposite.

@@kiiltochii1607 I suspect loneliness plays a large part for many. I've been very active on forums and social media sites because I had such very limited interaction with humans in real life. Without social media I might have been far more isolated. I think this especially applies to people who are 'different' in some way from the people around them: neurodivergent, lgbtq+, highly intelligent, learning difficulties, elderly without family, niche hobbies, mentally ill, night shift workers, etc. But this also makes them very vulnerable to the negative effects of social media and the toxic people that operate in that space.

@@thatsreallyamoon well simply because it distorts your sense of reality.
If you watch "models on instagram" with altered facial structures, using lights and camera angles to get the best shot and then using post production to edit the pictures to look the best they can look, then you will assume most people are that "beatiful" and that you shouldn't settle down for a ugly person when in fact that ugly person is just the average of humans. It's not necessarily a conscious thing, your subconscious will instantly make you unattracted to the average human and consider them ugly or down right repulsive.
      That's how it affects people.
I know i assume you watch and follow models on social media, but i'm generalizing, believe it or not people do this, else there wouldn't be "influencers" in bodybuilding or "models" in their ho phase asking for money on only simps.

As a retired Photographer for old days of film as digital was just coming in, I have to thank you for exposing the scammers. I spent a good bit of time working with both professional and amateur modles on Advertsing and Promotional Shoots. Even back then we used lighting, and poses to make figures look better than they were, a twist here and a lean their a waist is thinner, a hips shaplier. I also spnt a lot of time letting models know that trends change quickly, whats the hottest today is old hat tomorrow, so be ready to keep changing and take breaks till the trends come back to your look. The software and digital revolution makes me glad I'm out and I feel sorry for all the young people who are sold that they have a look a certain way, that no one actually looks without the software filters and enhancements! I've seen far too many models who if they were not cosmetically enhanced, they were photo shopped!
Keep up the great work and keep slamming the fakes! I've turned down clients over the years who wanted to use total photpshoped images to convince their target audience that they had a exercise program that was going to give the small chested a girl a huge busty, or a chunky girl a tiny waist. Real is good, faked is stupid, no 20 year old needs to be thinking about getting implants unless she wants a career as an Adult Entertainer. Help these kids keep it real.

In terms of the fitness industry as someone who has been going to the gym for five years, It’s not that the physiques are necessarily unattainable but they definitely lie about the time frame and level of consistency in all aspects in your life it will require. It takes crazy discipline. From curling 15 pounds to curling 55 pounds, as someone who hasn’t supplemented on my fitness journey, all I have to say is be consistent. Don’t even focus on a physique. At the end of the day it’s your health and your body that’s the focus not a look. You wanna be in the best shape you have to feel in the best shape. First emotionally; you looking at yourself and the mirror and you might be fat as hell but you gotta see your potential. Or you might be skinny as shit and feel weak. But y’all gotta think to y’all selves in a year where do I wanna see myself. In the industry people who been doin this shit for years will tell you you can get like them in months smh. Not with all the other shit most people gotta balance. At the end of the day just be consistent in your energy in the things you want. The fastest route will demand the highest discipline✍🏾

The reason your generation is having "anxiety and depression" is because you are a bunch of spoiled children that think the world revolves around them, social media has nothing to do with this it only gives you what you want. Suicide rates have been steady for years among the 10-19-Year-Olds for years but telling people you have anxiety and depression is on the rise because people get more attention for saying this more then ever before, and in fact boys are some 2x to 3x times more likely to kill them self. And the total number of teen suicides is extremally low compared to other age groups Dumb teenagers have always been and will always be dumb because they are teenagers that don't understand the world, this is just the mental health industry traying to sell products by telling them they have a problem only the products they sell can solve.

But even as a young adult, I find myself getting influenced by negative self esteem and it’s something I’m constantly working on. I have cousins who are younger than me who are teens and getting too caught up and influenced by likes and followers. It can be destructive when ppl are so easily impressionable. But I do appreciate the more positive content on social media. The kind that brings out the best in us, the kind of content that uplifts us instead of making us feel a certain way negatively. The wholesome and positive side of it that’s not fake. The one which spreads truth instead of lies.

Before i stopped working (not by choice) i was actually partly into Things like SEO/SEA, social media use to grow audiences that engage and ARE potential customers. I did this for the company (Travel agency in a specific niche/part of the globe, specialized in custom travels) i worked at and only for that. From day 1 i did it the “good” way, white hat if you will, never worked with clickfarms and follower packages etc. Now, i remember vividly that in the early days where my focus was on relevant/Unique content, optimize our websites(main and satelite) and slowly build the socials. I was critized and laughed at by competitors and relations in the industry, that i was stupid for not going for easy, fast tricks to shoot up numbers instantly, this would never work for us and would be bankrupt for not attracting many visitors and followers. On several occassions i had to explain myself and defend my way of doing things because someone had been in my employers ear again or after a slow week he’d seen competition ranking higher all of a sudden in Traffic all around. Everytime i told the same, organically growing, not using these cheap packages and “hacks” to score is going to to do us more benefit, deliver us more paying customers etc. I even threatened once or twice that i’d walk when he tried to make me do these “hacks” and tricks, find someone to replace me who would do those, i don’t want to be around when it (inevitably) bites you in the ass, big time. Explaining what being found out, certainly by Google for black hat SEO would mean, complete removal from the search results.(don’t know if that is still going on, but around 2012 it definitely was)
It was after a while when the results started to show and steadily rose from barely first page to top 3 Organic results on Mayor search words, socials grew with people engaging and interacting, the works, that finally it was appreciated what i did, raking in more potential and actual paying customers then the team could handle. Competition started to wonder, what hacks i did use, this can’t be yadayada. And, around that time the biggest mouth in the industry (who was just a real small player really) got hit with penalties and dropped off the search results. Wich was a bittersweet ‘i told you so ‘ and example to really drive home the point a always made, that hit my employer and made him real thankfull i stuck through.
But man, it is hard to sell when there’s these easy quick schemes and packages that do deliver short term for relatively small imvestments. I do understand why a lot, certainly those that don’t have a dedicated person on staff that does this fulltime.

Honestly the “attainability” is kind of a symptom of a far greater societal issue. Which is that everyone is a “winner” everyone is “beautiful”. Meaning those that aren’t feel more obligated to try to alter there bodies. Honestly when we come to terms with the fact that some just aren’t beautiful. They will feel better in there own body. Essentially “yes you are ugly, but that’s just what you look like. How about doing other things to be more appealing?”

Thank god I had a normal childhood with normal hobbies, interests and passions as I was growing up in the late 2000s/early 2010s. It makes me appreciate my life even more since I was never into social media or all the fabricated things you see on instagram that is made to get views, likes or followers or scam people out of their hard earned money. At the same thing, it makes me feel bad to be part of a generation whose mocked for being obsessed with social media when not everyone is a fraud, an egomaniac or even obsessed with social media. Guess it’s better being a no one who was human decency and dignity than being a somebody on the internet who has none.

I had to shoot a wedding that was out of town. I had only seen the bride through her social media account. I could clearly see that she was using filters on her photos and by filters I mean multiple filters to the point that she looked cartoonish. When I met the bride in person, I didn't even recognize her as the same person as her social media images because the bride was very dark skinned and had moles on her face with hair growing out of them. The person portrayed on her social media accounts was white as snow and had smooth unblemished skin.
I knew this was going to be a problem because it doesn't cost all that much to have a mole removed and there is makeup that can put a beautiful glow on any skin color. That this woman didn't do any of that meant that her physical form was just an avatar for her digital persona and as a photographer, how do I reconcile this?
Long story short, I refused to edit the bride's photos to match how she portrayed herself on social media and she used that same social media to tell everyone how I personally ruined her wedding. Seriously, why hire a photographer that is going to bring great gear and experience when you can just do a selfie on your iPhone and use some free filter that will make you look like a fool?

If u are looking to be a pro bodybuilder u are in for a big surprise my man. The amount u will have to sacrifice too make it on IFBB level will make your head spin. You have to eat sleep and breath bodybuilding to make it. Even beside the obvious drug intake which needs to be on point with doctors assistance you have to eat and work out all day every day its a full time job with no room to do much else. Not to mention all the money u gotta spend to maintain the physique. People love to just chalk it up to OH THOSE GUYS ARE JUST ON DRUGS SO THATS WHY THEY MAKE IT Its a grind and its very difficult to do otherwise every gym bro would do it. Genetic make up top notch muscle insertions play apart too. Very difficult way to make a living.
