That was great fun Dagan. It has been some time since I looked at this model. The new ones looks a little fancier than the early JEM Jr. I will check this one out. Thanks!
I couldn't agree more. Aesthetically, all black guitar with a brown fretboard doesn't look great. It's better to go maple fretboard if they are not going to use a dark wood.
@@Barbarapape YES! fk JATOBA man. The wax for my rosewood strat made my ibanez guitar unplayable. I dont know why but Jatoba fretboard really hate sticky stuff, the wood will eat the wax and keep it forever like shit
I have the white, yellow and pink, the black looks ok but would look amazing with gold hardware. I wish they had done the green to go with the pink and yellow, I would have gotten that. A Pia jr would be cool
This one really needs to be all black(or at least have black pickups/knobs), it just looks so metal yet classy… If I didn’t had FR guitar already I’d definitely got this one
@@scrimpmster doesn’t work like that for me, I have two 6 strings and it’s already one too much. For me a guitar should either be perfect or unique, and I already have the perfect one
My uncle has the full black JEMJR that was made in Indonesia few years ago. It has doesn't have the Tree of Life inlay, rather it uses the simple dot inlay. The fretboard is still Jatoba, monkey grip is there, quantum pickups, etc. But yeah, it is full black and it has bronze logo, not white.
New to Floyd roses? Regardless I still have a bone stock Jem jr and a fully customized one. Feels strange with the aggressive look and how versatile it is out of the box.
I just bought a jem jr used in white. it's fine but what's with the super high nut? I own gibson, kramer, jackson, other Ibanez, bc rich, fender, prs and others. none are that high at the nut. can I just buy a lower nut I mean so the strings will be lower at the first frets. I like low action and this would help the overall action. it's like 3 times to high. I will have to file down the groove were the strings sit or file down the wood under the metal nut but I dont like that because it wood mean it's stronger and I would take a lot off. all other guitar I have are 3 times lower, I would expect this on a Walmart guitar or something. I very suprised by this on a Ibanez. realy sucks. sorry for the bad spelling I am french. If I can get a lower one please give me the link for the righ one... anyone thanks.
looks terrible with white pickguard and hardware, would've been much better with all black. to me it makes it look like a squire strat or pacifica with the white. shame bc I really like the jem jrs
You are right. The white yellow and pink look sick though. The black looks like dog balls. Just grabbed a white one tonight and blown away with how well it was setup, how amazing it stays in tune and also the case is great as well.
What actualy the tremolo jem jr?? I searched the spec all over internet they only said "double locking tremolo". Well...is it lo pro 2? is it edge special? Is it gotoh?.. those sites never tells. Can anybody tell me?
Its a licensed cheap floyd rose made by ibanez, its the same used in GIO and their entry level guitars. It's the only thing worth changing in this guitar
at least these are offered in a lefty version, now IBANEZ need to update their left handed guitars and give us a couple more models like a lefty Nita Stratus version
When will Ibanez make a Jem Jr version of the Pia? I have the Jem 7V in White and the Jem Jr in Pink, i won't be buying a black one. Black guitars are a magnet for greasy fingerprints. Also please go back to Roswood fretboards, the Jatoba ones look terrible.
I agree on Jatoba looking bad, but until recently there was a ban/restriction on rosewood, so, many companies migrated to Jatoba for the low-end guitars. But usually if you pay at least $900 or so you get rosewood due to the higher price range.
@@Coles-bootleg-vids My $500 Sire lary Carlton has a Rosewood fretboard, the larger companies bought large stocks of the alternatives and it will take a few years if ever for them to bring back Rosewood to mid priced models. @@Barbarapape I personally really like Maccassar Ebony or whatever it's called, other really dark tones of it are just nice as a whole imo. I wish that no one put that ban in place.
@@Coles-bootleg-vids The ban was not needed, the amount of Rosewood used in making a fretboard is very small. This was all caused by people making very large amounts of furnture from Rosewood. I agree regarding Ebony, that deep dark look and tones are to die for.

Compared to the Jiva Jr, the fretboard is jatoba (instead of ebony), and the vibrato has a bad reputation (vs the Edge Zero II on the Jiva Jr). I went with the Jiva Jr.
The only thing you need to change on this guitar is bridge, its trash and made from cheap materials. Fit a Gotoh GE1996t bridge and you will be rocking, the guitar itself is fantastic. I fitted Dimarzios on mine but it's not essential.
Could you perhaps share the name of the exact model to replace the bridge with? Looking at the selection on the Thomann website there's a plethora of 1996T models to choose from.
It's a " signiture " , but not the original Vai Jem .....every brand has cheap guitars options of famous models . Lower price , but also cheap parts .....
My daughter picked up a used Jem Jr. just last week. I set it up for her. Man. Plays like butter and almost beats my Strat
Great demonstration of the versatility of tones with this guitar. Thanks! I’m sold.

Clicked so fast. Most awaited guitar for and the review. You’re always so cool my man!!
I hate how ibanez has stopped using rosewood across their range. Love a jem though.
Monty's guitar wax makes the disliked jatoba ones much darker, but still not as dark as Rosewood.
@@Barbarapape Yeah I have some of Monty's wax already. The replacement woods aren't a deal breaker but I really like rosewood.
It's cuz rosewood is an endangered wood and even fender are switching to indian laurel and pau ferro
