Totally worth it, but it does take time to research (sold items on eBay not listed item), take good pictures and write description. I think the biggest thing was to understand how much shipping actually cost, proper packaging and making sure the description is accurate.

When I buy on line, I love it when sellers give garment measurements! I can't remember what the sizing was in the 1970s and 80s, but I remember it was very different.

The biggest tip I have is if your item is worth something to send it recorded or signed for on delivery. I got scammed by someone who’d bought a gold bracelet and said they’d never received it, it’s the only item I’ve “not” had delivered.

We actually do much better at markets but online has kept us ticking over during covid and while my mobility is so limited. I actually really love Etsy as they sort out all the transactions and even the VAT for you which is brilliant! We did have a minor panic when we had overseas orders before Christmas and had to work out how to use the customs labels etc. To say it’s been a steep learning curve is underestimating the process. The chemist that I use for all my assessments was amazing, really helpful. I was totally shocked to realise that a lot of the fragrance oils that were being sold were about to be discontinued due to having horrible effects of the reproductive capabilities of users!!!! I had wasted lots of money getting legal assessments for these fragrances only to have them discontinued six months later. Hence the move to essential oils and natural colours. A huge amount of sellers on Etsy aren’t legal but there are obviously loopholes for international selling!?! They are therefore able to sell more cheaply. I m rambling now, take care Vivi and thanks again, you are a superstar. Xxx
I've been selling on eBay since the 90's and later Amazon but I left Amazon because they would give money back to the buyer when the item would arrive late because of the postal delivery and wouldn't take the money back to me. It really helped me with raising two children by myself and they had fun helping. I've been thinking about Facebook Marketplace or just a business page with Facebook for advertisement. It is very time consuming, but it is worth it. I used to have a po box, but the price now is $45 every 6 months, so I cut that out. Majority of my items I can use shipping bags less weight but the breakables I have to use boxes. As you everyone that knows me saves those for me. Wonderful video Vivi thank you, you gave me another idea. Take care darlin

After a big declutter earlier this year I ventured into the world of eBay selling and it was easier to set up than I expected. I was mostly selling some unwanted jewellery and vintage dolls (Sindy & Pippa) and the original clothes for the dolls plus some dolls accessories. They all sold surprisingly well and were small items to send out so a lot went by large letter rather than a parcel. I thought that if I made £100 that would be good but ended up with £350 after fees! Have a big dentist bill looming so I have taken out £20 for happy spending and the rest will go towards that. I did all of my selling by auction over 10 days and the item started on a Thursday evening and ended on a Sunday evening so you get 2 weekends worth of people browsing when they have a bit more time. Worked for me and it also cleared out another drawer of saved packaging materials. Gets quite addictive but I’ve run out of things to sell now. Great tips in this video so thanks.

Ooooh, how exciting! Have fun creating! I did quite a bit of research before buying my plug-in.....I looked into user satisfaction and ease of use mainly.....and decided on WooCommerce. I'm not at all tech savvy so it took me a couple of days to properly set up (the postage bit was the hardest!)....but I have found it so straight forward to use since then. Good luck! 😀

Hi Vivi -- I've heard some rumblings about Etsy from disgruntled sellers. I think the complaint is around an increase in fees.
