Seeing them on stage together in Waiting for Godot is a highlight of my theatre experience!
Ian lives around the corner from me and the two of them drink in the local pub, which Ian owns part of, every now and again.

Graham Norton is the best host in the world because in his show, you'll see his guests as a real people just having fun, like when we laugh with our friends. They don't seem to have celebrity tantrums, they drink, they laugh, they tell funny stories...and sometimes you see them as totally different people from their public image.
Olivia Coleman behaving like a schoolgirl confessing to her teacher that she didn't study in preparation for the exam that she got an A+ in! OMG that woman is talented!
The key to this, they are allowed to drink and it relaxes them. US guests generally love it.
Unfortunately Aaron Taylor Johnson drank a little too much, forgot to speak, and was never invited back.
They are also allowed to relax and say what they want - the drink is just sociable (like at a party)! 😂
Also Graham Norton is the best host there is. He makes them comfortable, lets them talk and has the quickest wit

Joel, when Olivia Coleman was asked about the tv series Broadchurch, in which she starred alongside David Tennant, you appeared bemused. If you haven't seen this series, I highly recommend it. It isn't anything akin to an American crime series. It takes its time and there is little to no violence. The first series took eight 60 minute episodes on one terrible crime. It won 25 awards and scored 92 on Rotten Tomatoes.
Broadchurch was SO GOOD!

This is why I prefer British crime shows, they always take their time and it feels more real. Also, the people look like real people, not like moviestars.

The emotions were so raw and I really felt quite uneasy watching (the nature of the crime was horrible). Really unsettling. Never watched another series quite like it.
Graham filled a space left by Michael Parkinson, who had a talk show on a Saturday night for 40 years +, and when he retired, there was no-one else who had major celebrities. Graham soon made a name for himself as he was already a comedic actor and TV aware, so he puts guests at ease very quickly. Have you seen him in Father Ted?....You should also watch Olivia Coleman and Tom Hiddlestone together in a 6 part drama called `The Night Manager', its a thriller and also has Hugh Laurie as the `baddie', and he is VERY good. It was a TV drama, not sure if it was BBC or ITV........but very good.

I agree. Kevin Hart is hilarious whatever he says. Just that type of character I guess. I think the Graham Norton show is one of the best shows ever & possibly the best chat show ever on TV, anywhere. Did you ever watch the show with Matt Damon, Bill Murray & Hugh Bonneville? It was one of the best ones ever & was absolutely hilarious. GN always lets the guests be themselves which is why it’s so successful. Best wishes Joel 👍

Graham usually has three interlinked guests and one safety sat on the end, a comedian or musician that can save the day if the guests go cold or lose pace.
You should check out Alan Carr chatty man. Episodes with channing Tatum and Jamie fox or paloma faith. Also you should check out Greg Davies telling Ryan gosling a story. That gets me every time
McKellen is spot on with his impersonation of Maggie Smith who I also adore unconditionally. What a woman, what an actress, what a presence.
Graham always gets high calibre guests because he is hilarious and authentic and 100% at ease with himself and everyone else. Love him

A Listers love going on GN because they can relax and be themselves, also they can swear as much as they like which seems to encourage them to throw off they're inhibitions. Great reaction JP. 👏🏻

The great guests come on the show because Graham lets them be the star of the show. He doesn't talk that much and I think the guests appreciate it. That approach lets the stars speak to each other and chill out. Alcohol also helps.
The Guests get a chance to entertain each other They may not get to meet otherwise.Graham lets them get on with it and the magic happens, with a little guidance.Great show.💌

Been watching since the Graham N show started. Hands down the best talk show on earth. He just has a way to make make ppl feel comfortable and let their guard down. At one point he tried to do the show in the US but our censorship laws are strict and it flopped. It really wasn't funny and felt very corporate. Luckily he's still on in Britain. Fingers crossed because he was talking of stopping the show several years ago. He does a bunch of other things and I think he was feeling the "age" thing. He's on Vaca now but is coming back for season 32 in the fall.
That's interesting....and thanks for mentioning that he was talking about finishing with the series, because I remember reading the same and then - over time - thinking I must have imagined it...! 🤔
There have been sooo many funny guests on the show. The Greatest Moments compilations are great when you're feeling down, you will rewatch them multiple times. Kevin Hart is always hilarious, as is Jamie Dornan.

omg-Marylander here. Love crab. Yes, expensive now but back in the day loved crab fests and getting together with family and friends with bushels of crabs and eating until you were stuffed. Delicious. Crab cakes, crab dip and plain crab-yum

Graham Norton definitely has a wide variety of guests on his show, but Michael Parkinson’s talk show ran from 1971 to 1982 and from 1998 to 2007 as well as other talk shows broadcast from the UK and abroad. He was much loved by audiences and was known for being easygoing and respectful, but his interview with Meg Ryan was talked about for years because of how disrespectful and nasty she was to this much loved host. His show was called “Parkinson” and his guests included sportsmen, politicians, dancers, comedians and actors from modern times to some Golden Hollywood legends. They really are worth a watch.

This show is the best talk show ever because Graham Norton is himself all the time. He's not pretending to be who he is not and, most importantly, he never interrupts his guests.

Try British crab. I think it has more flavour. The best think is to order ‘dressed crab’ but make sure it’s local - for example go to the seaside lol

Crabs aren't expensive in the UK and you buy them 'ready dressed' so you don't have all that hard work to do.
Graham lets his guests talk freely but always had a story prompt to hand. They know anything goes, have a couple of drinks and don’t have to watch their language. Ian (Gandalf) is so sweet, but he mispronounced the greenstone, it’s ponamu = paw nah moo. But he’s such a treasure we will forgive him.

I recently watched videos of Patrick Stewart with Conan O'Brian. He has not forgotten his upbringing in a town near my home city, where I have relatives.
Graham Norton has a good show over here ( it might have ended - I don`t see it anymore on the grounds that I don`t have a Television Licence and, ergo, don`t watch live TV or BBCiPlayer ).
I, of course, instantly recognised Norton, John Malkovich and Sam Jackson. I have no idea whom the other two are, but I wouldn`t kick the lady out of the way to get to any of the other four.

I despise crab, but love shrimp, lobster, scallops...etc (but not oysters, ick) makes no sense. But crabs are just nasty.

PS, Joel. Yes, Maryland has THE best crab and crabcakes, together with the Gulf Islands. Believe it or not, my first ever crabcake was given me 27 yrs ago at a crab bake at a house at Cape Charles, hosted by Al Gore!! After his book on climate change, those crab cakes were the best things he ever gave me.,😅😋.
