With due respect, we were delighted Pakistan lost. Pakistan had visited India before this and smashed India 5-1. The one match that India won was because they lost fewer wickets, else that was a tie too. So after Pak lost, this match seemed like a formality.
BBC production quality was much poorer than channel 9 of Australia, but it's commentary team was in my view superior, specially considering that overall theme and mood of that era.
Got to know Sachin and Kambli were ball boys for this match, 4 years later they played world cup together. Gavaskar opening instead of Shastri was blunder he would rarely score runs under Kapils captaincy, what was Chandrakant pandit and Kiran More doing together? backup keeper

@@Niktodie4 Yes, Pakisan team in 80s was probably second to only West Indies. Only 1999 WC squad can be considered closer to them in strength.

Cricket fans in both countries were awaiting for that both teams will qualify for the final but both teams lost in semi finals
Gooch played two historic knocks against India.One in this match & the second at Lords ....innings of 333 in that test match.
