What a spineless side India was in the 90s. Tendulkar goes and the whole team collapses. They didn't deserve the semi final spot. And thank god the Lankans won or it would'Ve been Aussies with 6 world cups...

Two defining moments from that game
A. Counter attacking 66 from ***** after losing both Jaya and Kalu in the first over without scoring. That set the foundation for a challenging score of 251
B. +SachinTendulkar ironically scored one less than Aravinda, 65 (no less in stature) but fell at a moment when India were just beginning to gain the upper hand in the contest. The fantastic presence of mind shown by Kalu behind the stumps did the trick!
Rest as they say, is history. Eden crowds unruly behavior, Vinod Kambli crying, Clive Lloyd handing over match to Sri Lanka ended the contest that day. SL clearly the better side and deserved to go to the finals to play Australia in Lahore.

Btw, I feel soooo bad for Vinod Kambli; this coulda been his chance to finally show that he deserved to be a valuable member of the Indian team by playing a responsible knock in the WC semifinal. Unfortunately, things did not pan out for him [to say the least...] :/

am pretty sure kumble and kambli would've score 130 runs more in 90 balls....real easy. very unfortunate for india as the match was called off. The crowd is to blame.

I see many Pakistanis gloating over this match which was between Sri Lanka and India, where Indian fans were completely devastated ( I was a kid then, and was very very sad!), Sri Lanka played some really good cricket and Indian public behaved really poorly, poorer than the pitch itself, Clive was the referee. But where did Pakistanis figure in this? Or should India have murdered their coach is what Pakistanis here are to advise? :)
