I made these as pins for my friends who are out protesting in support of Palestine. They preferred the smaller size, I used dmc floss in red white green and black with crochet hook size 2.25. One floss of red and green makes two pins.

I already made such a little watermelon slice a bit different.I started with the green shell similar to most people may crochet leafs for plants, but with te compond variants of the fiffentnt high crochets to have a thight structure It had 36 stitches around the edge so i made the white line as one round of 36 single crochets into the backloops of the green part (the front-loops resamble the cutting-edhe of the slice.). Than i made the red part with 6 decreases each round until ended in the center and made some stops doring the process to create the black seeds. Now i´m working a different shaped piece of melon, a cone with a round base of green shell. Again i work from green to red to have unused green stich-loops as the "cutting-edge"

Please mention that when you're done with the green rows the wrong side has to be facing you. I did another row and the slip stitches had a white stripe between the green and white. So I frogged that one and did it like you. It has to be an even number of green rows I think. Edit: my bad, it doesn't matter what you do, the green line will always be there. I did 4 rows of green, cinched the edge together, then did 24 green st on the white side. Then I sl st the edge together. Now it doesn't have the green line that bothered me. I really need to touch grass.

I've changed the closing method a little bit because I didn't like that you could clearly see the green slip stitches on the white part. After closing the first green side with a slip stitch on the 5 or 6 loops i had on the hook, I went on and crocheted 24 single crochet on the white part that was left alone. After that , I closed the other green side with the same method of the loops on the hook and slipped stitched the green sides. I think that this way, it looks better on both sides. Oh yes, I've started with a magic ring because you close it tight, and then you won't see the filling. FREE PALESTINE 🇵🇸
