Thank you, enjoyed the video. I’m actually related to Charles. The famous Charles Goodnight was born to his farther Charles goodnight and Charolette Collier. And his father had a sister Nancy Robinson Goodnight who married John Morton Murdock. That’s where I’m related. I have visited Nancy’s grave many times, since we live a couple of hours away

I'm a Goodnight, not 100% exactly sure what the relation is but my papa Goodnight always told me that we are directly related. Some day I'm going to get my DNA tested so I can find out for sure on the details. I live in Oklahoma and visited their graves and house once, very neat, I love history and being related just sparks my interest more, naturally.

That's my several X great uncle. I visited his house and his grave years back. Proud to say that I am related to that man.

Thanks for sharing. The foils of his life reminds me of a quote "Every day and in every way politics tramples the greater good."

In May 2024 I visited the Goodnight Barn in Pueblo, Colorado. It's worth the side-trip if you're passing Pueblo on I-25.

Neat thanks for the info. I'm going to visit one day. I'm related to him and went to his grave and house but not to Pueblo. Is it something that we can tour or?

I enjoyed this, the first of your podcasts I've listened to. Since I'm from Oregon and not familiar with Texas or Midwestern geography, I especially enjoyed your maps. Thank you!

It was actually through the concerns of his wife Mary Ann "Molly" Goodnights concern for orphaned Buffalo calves that Charlie then knew that the rapidly diminishing Buffalo needed saving

Empire of the Summer moon. A great read/listening.
Also check out Centennial by James Michener. It’s a historical fiction.

The untold story about Colonel Goodnight is that his wife Molly introduced him to a simple quiet religion that he truly loved and followed until he died!

Both Goodnight and Cynthia Ann Parker were born in Illinois, her birthday 10-27-1827. His 3-5-1836, which is the day before the Fall of the Alamo.
And he was only 2 1/2 months old when she kidnapped on 5-19-1836.
This narrator apparently can't add or subtract, for she was held for 24 years or so. Not 30 as the narrator states!
I paused the video at the 28:45 minute mark because of the narrator's mispronounces Quit-a-que, Quity-que. I can tell he is a either first or second generation "Texan". I happened to be a fifth generation Texican, seeing how my Great-great Grampa came to Mexican Texas in 1834. Truly a late comer, but 2 years before the Battle of the Alamo.
I point him out because he said you guys instead of saying y'all!

Glad to hear your input! Apologies on the math, we all make mistakes! It is pronounced Kitty-quay by all Texans I know so I apparently don’t know you! I say y’all, I say you guys, I say folks, I say it all! Appreciate your Texas heritage, mine only runs as far back as the early 1900s, but unlike you I welcome Texans of any generation on this podcast. In fact, this is a podcast for the world, not just Texans! So apologies that I have not catered to you and your tastes in dialect, pronunciation, and grammar, but I am who I am you are who you are and let’s appreciate each other for that.
