Thank you so much. Yes after a few of my favorite family members left, I realized that it is even more important to hold on to those memories. For every Onam, I put pookalam all 10 days like we used to when we were kids. Both my grandmothers were very particular about putting the pookalam and loved doing it. To me more than continuing the tradition every time I put the pookalam with my kids I relive those childhood memories with my ammumma and achamma.

I don't know why you said every home in America put wreath. In New York I don't see anybody put wreath on their front door. Some people put wreath for thanksgiving and christmas.

I usually don’t comment on anything but I so wanted to in yours, so I stared an account. I just moved to Georgia from Florida and currently living in an apartment. I would definitely use your garden tips once I get house (corona isn’t helping). You are an inspiration to me. I cried watching your onam video. I Used disagree and fight with my bother too about onapookalams but it is still a memory I cherish. So I am planning on making pookalams with my almost 4 year old this year. Not sure where I will get the flowers but like you said we can even use the grass if we want to. You seem like very lovely, down to earth and genuine person. Thank you so much Mary! Made my day! So true about the old memories. I just framed 4 large frames for a memory wall. Cut my fingers a few times as the glass on the side of the frame was sharp but didn't mind at all as most of the pics are old ones and brought back so many memories of dear ones.

I think watering might be the issue. Indoor plants don't need that much water.Touch the soil with your finger and if the top 1 inch or so is dry to touch, only then water. I water mine only once in 2 weeks, in winter 1.5 weeks. When you water give it a good soak. Hope this helps. Also what plants do you have? Many don't like direct sunlight also.

Did you mean fiddle leaf fig? If so all 3 don't like too much water. Water only when top 1 inch soil is dry to touch. Snakeplant hates water, lesson learned after killing 2. :) I did a post a while back on fiddle leaf fig care -www.whatsurhomestory.com/fiddle-leaf-fig-tree-care/. You can see how big it got here -www.whatsurhomestory.com/our-new-screened-in-porch/. It grew so tall that it touched the 9ft ceiling . I had to cut the top off and gave cuttings to friends who have rooted them.
