Howdy SlowGazers, what are you splurging on? Is it a certain makeup or skincare product / brand? Is it something ephemeral like alone time or good reads? xoxo Diana
I love these ideas and have been thinking about how to better marry my art life with my YT life. Thanks for helping me bridge that gap. I'd be happy to share more about my tattoos sometime... just don't know how best to film it yet! xoxo Diana
@@SlowGaze my pleasure! I love what you’re doing. I’m having a rubbish time at the moment and your videos and newsletters are a moment of silence in all the noise.
Hi Diana! I love that you question the concept of luxury itself! I think that what we see as luxury is changing a lot throughout our lifetime. It is also fascinating, how fast our perception changes and also how quickly we get used to spend a certain amount of money on things. I am 29 now and earning my own money, but a few years back as a uni student, would have had a different budget in mind when thinking of luxury. I absolutely think that it might help us in our journey to intentional spending, to know what luxury means to us! My recent purchase, that I would call luxury now, is a collection of Kinfolk magazines. Because of the limited availability in my country as well as it being something I don't necessarily need, but it makes me happy looking through them. By the way: I loved receiving your newsletter! It was also a great reminder to check if you have posted a new video :-) wishing you a great day and looking forward to your next newsletter, and/or video! :-)
Ahhh, loved reading your comment. I also totally get it because Kinfolk magazines are sublime! Thanks for sharing and for reading my newsletter - it was kinda scary to write, but I had to remind myself that I was basically writing a letter to friends. Take care! xoxo Diana
@@SlowGaze I get that, you are putting yourself out there. Do whatever feels good to you and I believe that an audience you would want to have will appreciate it!
This question is IT! I've tried so many "tests" and came to the conclusion that I have olive skin after watching Audrey Coyne's talk on skin color theory. Because of my overtone (also yellow), I thought I was a warm undertone. But actually... wearing warm colors doesn't always suit me, like corals, oranges, pinks, purples, reds... I looked muddy and everything pulled even warmer on me than I wanted. Blushes are so hard. For years I'd go for the peachiest ones... but after "acting" on the knowledge that I have cool undertones with a warm overtone (that together mix green, or "olive"), and buying blushes that are brighter and cooler pink than I usually buy, I cracked the code! The pinks would pull warm anyway, mixing the perfect amount of peach! I always thought I looked great in both gold and silver jewelry. That makes sense to me now knowing I have both cool and warm to my appearance. Sorry for the rant. I'll do a video on this sometime!! Thanks so much for watching (and reading, lol) xoxo Diana
Aaah so I’m binging/catching up on your videos and am reminded how I even stumbled across you. I was indeed searching for Merit vs Westman Atelier stick comparisons 🤦🏻♀️ in the end I purchased the merit stick as I determined it may be better for dry skin. It does go on and blend so beautifully but I noticed I can not wear it under my eyes (crepey old looking skin after time yuck!) I see you specifically put the WA stick under your eye in this video. Did I make the wrong choice ☹️ I have samples of WA products and they seem second to none I just can’t seem to justify the price only because I own so much stuff (kicking myself and wishing I was starting a collection from scratch as all her items seem so beautiful lol)
Howdy, Denise! I'm catching up on your lovely comments this morning, but thought I should jump in on this one first! Two things: I recently just did the price-per-gram calculation for WA and Merit... and WA was almost $2 cheaper per gram (if I remember correctly)! So you get a ton more product than the Merit. The Merit stick has also broken and fallen out on me before... fallen onto the bathroom floor to boot! Second, I put concealer directly under my eyes yes, but remember I may have a different face shape than you. My Chinese roots have blessed me with non-crepey-ness there but it comes with the burden of having a perpetual baby face and no eyelashes ;-P I hope that shed a little light! And whatever you have in your collection now is wonderful. The most sustainable way to live is to use what you already have... but it can be so hard sometimes. I completely understand. xoxo Diana
@@SlowGaze thank you for the reply! I love the baby face - you will be forever young looking 🤗 I was def shocked at how skinny the Merit stick is and should’ve done some math beforehand 🤭 Idk what I was thinking - it was like your latest video mentions just getting caught up in the hype of things - I prefer tinted moisturizers and glowy type products such as Ilia’s serum so idk why I would purchase in the first place. I should’ve went ahead with the splurge on the products I really know I love based on these samples I have been treasuring. You would laugh at how long I have been making these blister packs last - WA’s sculpting stick in biscuit and the highlight in Lit … Perhaps that can be my next goal to use up what I have then treat myself to these or cash in some rebates or card points for Sephora gift cards 🤗. Thanks again for you inspiration. My sister is certainly grateful as well as she inherits and truly appreciates my decluttered items 💕
I love the idea of doing a reprisal review on all the products you have really focused on in your past videos! Also the ad you did for Lilysilk was hilarious and the piggly wiggly look was the highlight for me haha xx
I love the idea of training yourself to rethink what “luxury” means to you or even prioritize where you “need” luxury. After spurts of quantity over quality when it comes to my makeup, I’ve become way more selective on products I want. I’d rather spend a little more on one luxury product that looks and performs beautifully than buy several drugstore dupes that are only so-so or don’t bring me joy to use. Conversely, there are absolutely drugstore and midrange products that perform just as well or better than luxury. For me, it’s about balance and putting some thought and even research into something instead of impulse buys. Having said all that (😂), my current splurges or obsessions lately have been skincare. Simple, non-gimmicky and enjoyable skincare. The Farmacy Honey Grail and Glow Recipe Banana Soufflé are truly wonderful experiences to use and make my skin look great.
Absolutely with ya there, Lindsey! It took me a while to figure out my balance (I'm still figuring it out) but I'm more at peace with my discernment and purchases than ever before. I have only tried Farmacy's cleansing balm, and not many Glow Recipe products... I'll have to check those out. Thanks for the rec & for watching, cheers! xoxo Diana
Waiting for your review of petal bouche by Violette! Absolutely love her and what her brand stands for. My Petal bouche will come to me after August maybe so atleast I can live vicariously through your post! :(
With the makeup in your declutter box, would you be open to selling it on Depop? The money you make you could donate to a charity close to your heart :)

@@SlowGaze I’d love to see a video sometime, you’re the best youtuber at explaining colors really nicely (as I’ve said in my other comment) 💗
I love the way you describe colors. As a writer, it was a dream to listen to you describe the brown shadow.
Ahhh, this makes my heart sing! I love colors as an artist
I love the way you tied that neckerchief! So luxe✨
Aw, thanks! xoxo Diana
Yessssss!!!!!
Glazing the skin! I love that - I love when you reference art or your artistic background
