I'm physically disabled and ND. My children are both ND. I moved to Europe 2 years ago... I suddenly found myself much more disabled than ever before. Simply put; I think the society we live in has the power to make us much less able. There's a huge difference between equity and equality. There also seems to be a lot of confusion in government in particular about the difference between mere tolerance and active inclusion.

So true. Ableism is a huge problem and there needs to be a basic change of paradigm in society. I’m wishing you all the best for your future and the future of your children 🌈 and thank you for sharing part of your story with me ❤️

You speak to my heart, I just discovered your channel 🎉❤. I began making art in my early 60's, it freed my soul. A long break of about 3 1/2 years, where I didn't paint at all, but as you said, we put our creative energy into living. I have slowly begun to make art again, but with a new perspective, because I have grown in my life. I will turn 75 in August, but feel younger than I did 10 years ago. Every day is an opportunity to follow curiosity and to shine.❤

The way you articulate the intangible is beautiful.. My journey has been tiring and from a very young age I realized there is a difference between people who were brought up in a survival mode than others.Surviving and living are entirely different.I really felt seen when you talked about the difference in pace. I really wish life was kinder to everyone and the ones who have been through darkness find light.

Just found out your channel and wow. I felt for every single of your words. I’ve always been a creative since I was a toddler, spending hours by my self drawing as the world outside didn’t feel like it was a place for me.
After high school I decided to enroll at the art academy in my hometown, but ended up quitting after six months for various reasons (mental challenges on my side, terrible teachers on the other). I felt so scared and honestly a failure to an extent that I stop making art for a year or so, then I tried to go back but I wasn’t either mentally or physically prepared (I’ve been thinking whether I’m autistic or not, and I think I’ll try to have a professional consultation as soon as I have the resources).
I’m from Italy, and no one here sees art as a sustainable career. So I studied and studied, which led me where I am now, in Taiwan. I’ve been studying so much about colonisation, post-colonisation, marginalised indigenous communities, their art practices, community art practices etc. Now I’m 26 and I feel like I really need and want to go back playing with colours with the little child I was. And I’d like to engage in a space such as the one you’re working at.
Thank you for creating this space on TH-cam ❤

Dear Francesca 🦋 I just woke up to your comment.. and I wanna thank you so much for sharing a part of your story with me… this is really inspiring and feel so much for what you’ve been going through. Your journey is impressive… And I love that you have been studying the intersection between (post)colonialism and indigenous art practices. This is one of fields of interests, too - especially the aspect of transgenerational trauma / patriarchy and the way we deal with diversity and with nature (including our inner nature).
I have to say (I know that might sound corny) .. that you really have your whole life ahead of you… :-) and I am so glad that there are young people like you that are changing the world for the better 🌈 thank you Franscesa for connecting with me and my channel! I really hope to stay in touch with you 🌻 sincerely, Nastja

I really resonated with all you said! You are such a sweet and inspiring teacher! I am 45 and found my calling in life a bit late, but people like you make me feel it is ok. I come from Greece and my first trip outside my country was in 1990, aged 11, in both ex- East and West Germany. It was such an experience, the differences were huge because the country had just re-united... So many memories for an 11-year old, very vivid! Take care, it will be a pleasure to follow your creations... I play a little guitar.. Auf wiedersehen! 😊

Kalimera :) and thank you for your sweet, heartwarming comment ☺️🫶 I grew up in East Berlin (GDR). If it wasn’t so expensive I would go there every year 🥰

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply and connect with me, I really feel it! 😊 Yes, I have very fond memories of this trip, we landed in Berlin but we had to change planes first, because only US, British, French and Russian planes could fly into Berlin up until that point... There were still parts of the Wall standing.. amazing.. I remember visiting KDW and seeing the toys section! I remember buying flower seeds as a gift for my mother from a local market in Dresden.. so amazing.. This was a weekly trip from former East to West Germany, starting from Berlin.. I am so happy you liked Greece, the islands are expensive for us too, but fortunately there are mainly places in the mainland.. You should try Mani in the Peloponnese, so many Germans have bought property and are living there all year long! I will keep in touch, I love the energy you put out there, take good care of you and your young one, und eine gute Nacht! Take care, Antonis 🤗🙏🌹

Interesting video, I just turned 41. It is true about when you aren't able to do creative things it can cause people to become depressed, I have heard this. I'm also currently experiencing it myself. I've had many creative hobbies when I was a kid and into my teens and 20's. Then I met my husband and have barely little time or money to do them. Watching art and craft videos gives me some relief and also inspiration, I've also learned a lot too. Thanks for sharing.

    • @EmbraceYourselfBaby

I can relate very well Katie… I have also so little time because of work, taking care of a child and my parents… and money is always an issue, for me as well. Now that my child is a bit older and my parents are taken care of, I‘m trying to find as much time as possible (even if it’s early in the morning ) because I‘ve come to learn that creative expression is a very important form of nutrition.
Like you‘ve said: it is so important for healing and overcoming depression. I think it is vital that we learn to be creative in an unconditional way again. And this can have so many forms. I hope that you will find more time and space again to thrive. Thank you so much for writing your comment and sharing a part of your story with me 🫶

So well said! I instinctively knew some of what you shared about yourself. I am proud to know you. I marvel at your acceptance of yourself first and foremost which allows you to accept others. You exemplify the advice you give of embracing yourself. Your ability to demonstrate visibly and audibly what you teach is remarkable! Years ago, a female barber reassured me as she cut my thinning hair. She taught me that if I could just be okay with being my imperfect self and radiate self-acceptance that the people who really mattered would feel more safe in my presence than if I was perfect. I believe she was right, and I now want to be real and honest. I don't judge those who want to hide behind prosthetics, but I am drawn to imperfect people who are comfortable in their own skin. I spend my days trying to help anyone who will listen to know that they are okay just the way they are. I also sense that you will continue to add to my understanding of these important concepts.

    • @EmbraceYourselfBaby
      @EmbraceYourselfBaby  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

That‘s some great wisdom from your barber 💎 I love that story… we all have our insecurities that might stem from a lack of safety we once experienced. Accepting and embracing ourselves the way we are encourages others to do the same. Especially in the age of AI the imperfect (aka human) will become even more significant again, I believe…
So glad and proud to be your friend… 🌈 ps: there’s a reply in your inbox :)📨

Thank you for reminding me that we are all on our own timeline and that many of us find our true purpose later in life. I'm only 33, yet I feel pressured by society (and myself) to have a 'career' all together, which I definitely don't! I know this is very much a shared condition, however, as I know theoretically, but, do often fail to practice, if I do not respond to myself, my work and my thoughts with respect and love, how can I expect others to do the same.
