I have also shown the substitute ic nos in the video.
The audio quality of ic was very good and comparable to modern amplifiers. It comes with various suffix numbers which denotes the THD figures. The most considerable drawback was inability to drive the load lower than 4 ohms. The size was also bigger than the modern counterparts. Also the layout was messy. However it was a standard in itself during the 90s because there were no competitions at all at the power level. Some versions can deliver upto 200 watts RMS which touches the boundary of Professional Audio.

I have built the IC in the year 1992. The ic was STK 459. I bought it from from Sansui's service center for Rs780/.
The audio quality is beyond imagination. The number behind the IC is the batch/lots number is to check the authenticity of the hybrid module. The checking was done in the Sanyo's website then changed Matsushita Electric after Sanyo being acquired by the former.
The dynamic range cannot be compared with any other IC of the same wattage at present.
And this video took me to my childhood days. Thanks to the admin of this channel for the awesome audio masterpiece.
these were great for the time but these days a properly designed class ab should sound way better and more reliable.
these are very sensitive to shorts and low impedance loads. only suitable for 8ohm loads.

maine old stock 2sc5200 original japan (non ttc) wala use kiya p3a amp main,2sc5200 voices ko aage laata hai,aur snare drums ko peche dalta hai,isse songs ki musicality kam ho jaati hai,tda7294 full neutral hai,equal voices aur equal snare drums deta hai.Sabse baap,musical sound(hi-fidelity sound)-philips,sanyo,matsushita,mitsubishi ke integrated circuits dete hai,jo abhi manufacture nahi hote.(ye ics voices ko normal rakhte hain aur snare drums ko aage laate hai,jo actual musical hi-fidelity sound balance hai.)

I have one of the Stk amplifier and it is working. It gives 200w out and I got it from jank yard. And it only cost me 10rs. When I checked it it was working properly and I am using it with my sab woofer. It needs 24v.

Mit jane ke baad to kaafi mushkil hai.smps ka to pata chal jayega.aap uspar ampere meter laga kar load badate jaiye ,jaha par trip ho jayega wahi uska max ampere hai. Transformer me agar aap secondary wire ki gauge pata kar lete hai to fir uska maximum current bhi pata kar sakte hain. Jaise ki agar 18 AWG ka wire hai to current 16 amp hoga.
Smps se car amplifier chala sakte hai. Jitne watts ka amplifier hai usse 20% jyada power ka smps use kijiye.

Very useful details of STK i.c. you have given.In my experience, failure rate of this i.c. was high.In earley
90's decades,many japanis audio companies were using STK. but witin 6 or 8 months, these i.c.s replaced by myself.After all coustemers not satisfied.
Yes...stk were very sensitive to load.
I have always replaced the stk power packs with discrete amp boards. It's much more reliable and even if something goes wrong u can easily fix it. U don't have to replace the whole thing.

mere pas 20 sal purana sony ka original japan made 5 channel music system he uska output awsome hai usme bhi stk series ki ic lagi hui he, front ke do main channel perfect chalte he par kuchh samay se surround ke do channel me se ek channel band ho gaya he to kya main ic kharab hogi ya surround channel ke koi alag ic lagi hoti hai ?

Mostly surround IC will be faulty...2 channel ka koi be amplifier aap waha laga sakete hai...bus supply voltage same hona chaahiye.

True, STK IC wants more heat dissipation. During 1993-1994, I had used STK 459. At that time the price of this IC is around Rs.300/- and user experience/sound quality is very good compare to other ICs.
