Studio Tour: Nostalgia Nerd + Ashens & Did You Know Gaming

- It's 2020, and what better way to begin the year than adding to all the other game room and retro game room tours that come out at this time. This is actually a behind the scenes video that I've been meaning to make for a while, and so I've included a progression of my studio/office since my channel began, or at least, since it was relevant, back in 2015. My office space is also housed in the same building as Did You Know Gaming and Ashens, in what I'll describe as a "TH-camr paradise". Find out how that came to be and then you can decide whether the description is accurate within.

Something tells me that "small roof leak" is going to be an issue sooner or later. Don't keep anything you're not willing to lose near it.
"... Small roof leak" also could lead to rotten drywall, mould, mildew; nasty stuff.

I was talking to the guys on the maintenance crew for the Michigan capital building, and they said that whenever the roof leaks a little, the ceiling in that area will inevitably start to peal in almost exactly six months.

i wonder why someone like this this doesn't have millions of subs.....he clearly has passion and the drive....with almost 300,000 subs, it is outstanding, but for the work he does, he deserves so much more.....

Your office reminds me of the local computer shop in the 1990s. Large cupboards to the ceilings filled with random stuff and an area behind the counter in about 5x as much chaos! I remember spotting a Master Gear on a top shelf once!
Shacking up with people, roommates. Sounds good but usually turns sour. I mean Ashen's has to drag the brown sofa with him everywhere and all that rancid food and poundland gimmicks.
I love Ashens' Warhammer 40K mug.
My house is filled with Kallax shelves too, but they're full of vinyl.
For me the most perfect video would be ahens, nerdcubed, Larry bundy Jr. And nostalgia nerd all meeting up for a video, even if its just for the intros

Glad you guys got to get out of your bedrooms anyway. I've been working at home for 10 years and while its fine it would be nice to get out of there some more.

Nice to see that this guy lives a life just like us plebians. Full of stuff, slightly chaotic but fully dedicated. I´m always baffled by those super-clean, minimalist (apartment?) set-ups that some youtubers have (and how they manage to keep that up).
In our Office we set aside a central area for retro computer storage, sure it isn't as neat as we'd like it to be but it keeps our actual work areas a lot cleaner!

That looks ,like a pretty nice place and from what I heard from other youtubers it seems like a good idea to really move all this stuff out of your house so you can really seperate your working and home hours

It used to be but the change over was so seamless that no one realised
This also explains why we no longer see the Shelf of Interesting Items, and why we no longer see him burn items which displease him (hard to do in a shared rental space).
This is so interesting, and somehow makes me feel ten times more productive as well. This messy uni student is inspired!
EDIT: Also I am SURE we used to have a Precision 3100 like that at home (is that its name? I don't know tech stuff; I just like watching it on TH-cam)

I admire your space, as a TH-camr, artist, and photographer, my space is divided into 3, I wish I could have that storage you have. In NYC our office space is expensive. I rent out an artspace and that is long, but no windows. Looking at this video, I am inspired by your organizing I use Kallax as well, I usually find and repurpose them from an upscale neighborhood I find them in, def going to restructure my studio after this. Great video mate!

I was thinking the bit at the end about it being “our” videos was cheesy but it kind of is, in the sense that (for me at least) most of the enjoyment I’d get from most of this (beyond what I’m personally nostalgic about or want to try writing code for,) is the novelty of seeing something for the first time , seeing how it works , learning about the thing, sometimes disassembling it, but most of the time even when I have a good find irl it gets used like 3 times then sits on a shelf collecting dust. TH-cam videos also take up less space and get less spousal complaints (as long as she isn’t made to watch the videos 😂)

Hi, can you please move that copy of Descent 3 so it's after Descent 2? It's making me anxious to know that this is a thing that has happened. Also, congrats on all the growth over the years. Seriously, I actually freaking love your bedroom videos. There's an honesty to them that can't be replicated with a new office. I know its better for you now, but pun fully intended, I think your older videos are more nostalgic. Don't that that the wrong way or anything. Just a comment. Also I miss your quick play videos. And the ones where we would watch old shows together.
I noticed several shots of reversed video to make your B-roll long enough to work with your voice-over. If that editing trick is good enough for George Lucas to have a Tusken Raider shaking his weapon over his head, it's good enough for Nostalgia Nerd! Nice tour.
